Dave East – “Numb” (Prod. By Triple A) [Video]

I’m still hustlin’
Only difference is I don’t feel nothin’
Dave East

Damn. Dope! Classic lyricism delivered by Dave East over a major league beat produced by Triple A. Appropriately stark visual treatment for East’s joint “Numb” off his “Hate Me Now” project (out now). You can get that via the link to an earlier post below.

J Dilla – “Dillatronic #7” (Instrumental)

Wow. There are no words for this “Dillatronic #7” instrumental track from J Dilla. None needed. We know how you’re feeling as you listen to the stream above; scrunched up face, head nodding, body rocking. Yep.

A new track off the upcoming J Dilla collection “Dillatronic,” a series of unreleased electronic-influenced instrumentals from the iconic producer. Order now at dillatronic.com. Presented by Ma Dukes and Vintage Vibez Music Group.

Hopsin – “No Words” (Prod. By Don Cunana) [Video]

Hahahahaaa!!!! Nothing better than a bit of biting satire to kick today in its azz! In this case, to kick folks putting out that bullsh!t (as well as those that believe what they do is cool) dead in their azz… For all those weirdos (as Stro might call them – “Skrrr”), there are “No Words.” Hopsin (er… ‘Hash Brown’ …is here to say so, to laugh AT them (not ‘with’ them); and he will get a laugh out of you, too.

Thing about it though: You know Hop is telling the truth here.

You can get this hot ‘Hash Brown’ banger (on the low…make it your secret shame…HA!) by grabbing a copy of Hopsin’s album “Pound Syndrome” (out on iTunes now).

Dom Kennedy – “2 Bad” feat. Tish Hyman (Prod. By Mike N Keys) [Video]

One of my favorite Dom Kennedy songs gets a brand new video. Kennedy’s foreign policy looks like something we could get behind (translation: Dom picked a cute li’l dime piece for Eye Candy in this vid). This is “2 Bad” (featuring Tish Hyman) off the “By Dom Kennedy” project linked below. Beat by Mike N Keys.

Public Enemy – “Mine Again” (Video)

Damn. The landmine…

From the latest Public Enemy album, “Man Plans God Laughs,” this is the visual for “Mine Again.”

So it’s cool to be black until it’s time to be Black?
Ain’t never too late to go back and give back.
So, I let born-afters
know I rap for Africa,
to give to The Motherland,
to see what’s “Mine Again.”

NPR: “Tiny Desk Concerts” Series Welcomes “The Internet” (Video)

Straight outta Los Angeles, and Odd Future, The Internet – featuring founding members Syd The Kid (vocals/production) and Matt Martians (keys/ production), as well as Pat Paige (bass), Jameel Bruner (keys) and Chris Smith (drums) – falls through NPR to do a “Tiny Desk Concert.” The kind of Alternative that The Internet brings to your ears… well… it’s hard to describe. Good thing you have the above video to watch (and the “Ego Death” album link, via earlier post on here, to listen to).

Here’s an attempt at description: Think R&B’d out Hip-Hop swagger meeting homegrown Neo-Soul with a 21st century twist.

Yep. That’s the best description for it. And nope, that doesn’t quite cover it. But yep, you will enjoy it… perhaps enough to cop the album here.

Miguel Gives A Mini-Concert To Raise Awareness And Help Poor Working Class Families (Video)

This is what art is for: touching the lives of people where they live. Miguel, doing so sharing his music and a personal backstory to connect, gave a private mini-concert in partnership with the Make Room group (www.MakeRoomUSA.org). About 35 lives will never be the same. People packed into a small home outside Detroit (Michigan, USA), singing, clapping and getting a little chocked up; while Miguel uses his gift and platform as a performing artist to raise awareness of working single parents struggling to keep roofs over their families’ heads.

Start watching above as Miguel does “Coffee.” Then check out “What’s Normal Anyway” and “Adorn” after the jump to round out the set.

Grammy Winner D’Angelo Talks With Tavis Smiley About “Black Messiah” And More (Video)

Come to think of it: Was there ‘Neo-Soul’ music before D’Angelo? Not much, if any. He was a founding father of the genre, so to speak. From the son of a Baptist preacher, heavily influenced by church music, to making that funky stuff that grew from steeping in all that Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, James Brown, and Prince growing up. Then he got ‘extra-grown’ for the ladies with that “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” song and video. That earned him a Grammy (Best Male R&B Vocal Performance).

And then…nothing…for like over 10 years.

Now D’Angelo is back with his latest project, “Black Messiah.” And here he is talking to Tavis about it and more. Hey, it took two episodes to convey the convo. Keep watching after the jump.

Mac Miller – “Brand Name” (Video)

Mac Miller was not meant for the Average Joe 9-to-5 life; the concept isn’t even a reality he can grasp. His “Brand Name” video exhibits that and the skills for real. Straight off the “GO:OD AM” album (out now).
