Rewind: Goapele – Closer (Video)
I NEVER EVER…EVER…EVER…get tired of this song. NEVER. It’s Sunday so why not post this modern day classic back up & rock with it….
King – ‘Story’ (Video)
Not everyday you hear music that gives you chills, but when I heard this I got instant goosebumps. Not much is know about the trio other than them having a 3 song EP entitled “Story”, that is catching on like wildfire. The group is comprised of twins Paris and Amber, with Anita as the 3rd vocalists. They all hail from LA but met in Boston while attending college. All arrangement and production is done by group members, which blows you away when you hear the complex melodies and harmonies that blend smoothly like cocoa butter on ashy skin. They have created something that musically reaches out the box, and spans beyond R&B music thats mostly superficial and materialistic. Hopefully we will get more from KING soon but until then, it always feels good to find quality music organically and being able spread the good word about it……SO ENJOY!! – IsReal
DJ Khaled’s Single With Drake Called ‘I’m On One’ Should Include Talib Kweli (Opinion)
When I first heard this song I thought it was a good R&B record for Drake, but later I found out it was for DJ Khaled’s upcoming album. I haven’t been a fan of DJ Khaled’s recent projects because they had the terrible distinction of being & sounding completely the same from the concepts to the audio soundscapes. From the looks of this video DJ Khaled can recognize like I can that Drake gave him a hit record with this song. It’s easy to see why DJ Khaled is going all out with a full promotional campaign with ‘I’m On One’ theme, but I can’t help but think about Talib Kweli rocking with ‘I’m On One’ earlier this year. Maybe they should find someway to do a full on R&B remix with Talib Kweli doing a verse in some way. Maybe put Talib Kweli on an extended remix or something to those type of fans. Many people probably wouldn’t like that, but I think you should show some type of props to Talib Kweli for rocking with that phrase & song this year first. In case you’re slow I’ve included the link to Talib Kweli’s record from his Gutter Rainbows album below….

Mar – ‘Inglewood’ (Video)
Dutch soul singer Mar returns with this soulful Oddisee produced joint dedicated to that Wessyde city located in the greater Los Angeles area. For more hotness from Mar, make sure you checkout his bandcamp page at MarMusic.bandcamp.com
Young Chris – ‘Hey Lover’ (Trailer)
Young Chris delivers a pretty dope remake of the LL Cool J & Boyz II Men classic ‘Hey Lover’ which will appear on his upcoming mixtape L.I.F.E. (Ladies In Free Everywhere) dropping May 24th. Lyrically I’m not mad at this at all & it works because Young Chris is one of those types of artists that I believe could weave in & out of that ‘ladies man lane’ rather effortlessly. The L.I.F.E. Mixtape drops next Tuesday, but you can download the full song below….
DJ Jamad Returns With The ‘Frow-Powah Hour’ Show (HipHop+Soul+Jazz Mix)

DJ Jamad & Frolab bring it back to also celebrate his new show on commercial radio every Sunday called TrueSchoolCafe with DJ Scrap Dirty. Sit back & listen to this good combination of hip hop, soul, funk, & R&B joints. Just click the PLAY icon or the artwork above & you’ll find the tracklisting plus additional information…
Little Dragon – ‘Looking Glass’ (Trackademicks’ Quasar Gazer RMX)

Damn this is a hot remix of Little Dragon’s ‘Looking Glass’ joint….nothing like great music. Hopefully the Trackademicks team will be able to get some official joints commisioned for Little Dragon in the future. Â Trackademicks have been doing some good remix work & it’s possible we may see some of their musical work land on Teedra Moses’s upcoming project now that she’s signed to Maybach Music Group. They did a few tracks on Teedra Moses’s last album Royal Patience so it’s definitely possible. Check out more from the Trackademicks team from their website Trackademia.com

Wonderlove – ‘A Tribute Mix To Stevie Wonder’ by DJ Rhettmatic

Many of us have heard Stevie Wonder’s whole catalog of hits & underappreciated gems over the years, but often times it takes a dope DJ to get you to hear something differently & also expose you to tracks you may have overlooked. DJ Rhettmatic put that type of effort in this special mix dedicated to people born under the sign of Taurus just like Stevie. You can never go wrong with a good Stevie Wonder mix. This is just LOVE…. Wonderlove. Complete tracklisting & information from DJ Rhettmatic under the hood…..

The Weeknd – ‘What You Need’ (Video)
New video from the artist known as ‘The Weeknd’ from his ‘House Of Balloons’ mixtape. Between The Weeknd’s House Of Balloons & Frank Ocean’s ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ projects R&B has been going in a great new direction that these cats are taking them into. Now if The Weeknd can just shoot a dope ass video for ‘The Morning’ then I’ll really be hyped. ‘The Morning’ is my favorite song from his project. In case you’re behind on The Weeknd I re-added the link under the hood….

Mayer Hawthorne – ‘Impressions’ (EP)
The kid from Michigan recently dropped this 6 song EP of cover joints for free download. I like the fact that he chose to cover most of the lesser known works of the artists he’s tapped in this project for inspiration. Check out the website for more information on his thought process in completing this EP. I’m still rocking to some of Mayer Hawthorne’s previously released material like his No Strings Roller Boogie Remix produced by the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff. I’ve included both projects below for download….

SONG OF THE DAY
New Music: Focus… – ‘Music Of The Misinterpreted’ (Album)

Focus… is grossly underrated as a producer & artist. It should literally be a crime how much is talent is overlooked. I’m dead ass serious. I seriously doubt Focus’s music could be ‘Misinterpreted’ with a good ear for music. I don’t think it’s ‘Misinterpreted’ moreso than he’s largely not in the spotlight as much as those with far less talent who are always clamoring for camera time. In the long run & on the road to legendary status it’s really about quality music & Focus doesn’t disappoint with this new free album ‘Music Of The Misinterpreted’. Focus dropped a few tracks prior to releasing the album that we posted earlier, but now you can cop the full album here. Listen & download this bangin’ album & be sure to tell the ‘Misinformed’. Complete tracklist under the hood…..
Bobby V – ‘Sweetness’ (Video)
The beginning of the video gave me a few chuckles with the kids & the ‘Eyez Kreme Man’ skit. I like the song & the fly model in the video, but there’s a few clips that are borderline NSFW.
Foreign Exchange – ‘Return Of The Mack’ Live (Video)
Who would have thought that Phonte would perform this Mark Morrison joint live onstage?! They even mixed in a little Get Boys ‘My Minds Playing Tricks On Me’ into the repetoire. Hahaaa! Looked like everyone was having a good time down there at The Foreign Exchange’s Virginia show….
