Don’t know what the hell is going on but I’m one of the thousands of people anxiously waiting for Jay Electronica to drop his new album. Raphael Saadiq – “They Don’t Know” featuring Common & Ledisi (Unreleased)
Apparently this pretty cool joint produced by Steve Spacek was recorded back in 2004 with Raphael Saadiq, Common, & Ledisi. Not sure why it was never used & it’s quite possible that the song isn’t even finished. I can just imagine all the other soulful dopeness that’s probably laying around on the hard drives of Raphael Saadiq or even Steve Spacek for that matter….
DOWNLOAD: RAPHAEL SAADIQ – THEY DON’T KNOW FEAT. COMMON & LEDISI (UNRELEASED 2004)
UPDATE:
“Back in 2004 Raphael Saadiq opened his studio doors to Spacek to produce an album for one of his sub-labels. The album was suppose to be called Pookie Blue Room and features 10 songs produced by both Steve and Morgan with Raphael singing on all of them and featuring guest appearances by Common , Q-Tip , Ledisi, Steve Spacek and Sir Bentley (you know it was 2004 when you see Sir Bentley’s name, ahaha)…anyhow the album was never completed and therefor never released…” – Mathieu Schreyer
SlaughterHouse – “HammerDance” (Prod. By AraabMuzik)
You see this sh*t right here?! This sh*t right herrrrrreeeeeeeeeeee?! THIS is that real hip hop music! Bangin’ track produced by AraabMuzik, ill lyrics from the Slaughterhouse gang, & a decent hook puts a nice little ribbon on this joint! This sounds like something I’m gonna bang in the whip at like 9:00pm with the speakers on blast around the city. Looking forward to their next project “welcome to: OUR HOUSE” dropping May 15th…

Nothing else left to do but ‘Pop Sh*t’ over this ill ass track right here off of the Virgina group’s upcoming “God Mad Durt” project. This is definitely NOT soft serve hip hop right here from the Durte Muzik Prahdukshun crew….

Vintage Tux – “Piece of Mind” (Video)
Peep the new jam “Piece of Mind” from my brethren from Tallahassee, FL featuring local songstress Socorro. The group Vintage Tux consists of emcee/producer M.E.R.C, dj/producer Seven Cypher,dj/producer Ish, deejay AtotheL, and distant relative deejay Maniac Magee. The concept behind the group is to bring a new refreshing sound to hip hop but with a vintage feel to it. This video, also directed by Vintage Tux, addresses what many of us face in this country when money is low, work is scarce, bills got to get paid, and thoughts of getting on your grizzly comes to mind. Be on the look for more dopeness from this sunshine state group.Enjoy

Tabernacle Mcz – “Silly” (Produced by Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra CreativePartners) [Video]
Now this jam “Silly” from midwest duo Tabernacle MCz is a hilarious joint that I know most of us can definitely relate to when “chasing the cat”. In the spirit of Slick Rick the duo trade tales of trying win the affection and hearts of different harlots from their past over this banger produced by Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra Creative Partners. I always love when artists take a break from being super hard, super thugs (word to Noreaga), and take a more lighthearted approach to making music, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Enjoy

Esperanza Spalding feat. Algebra Blessett – “Black Gold” (Video)
If you need a little uplifting in the mist of your daily trials, this joint “Black Gold” by the beautiful, regal, talented virtuoso jazz bassist/singer Esperanza Spalding featuring the equally beautiful and talented Atlanta native soul singer Algebra Blessett will provide that. The video is awesome in depicting a father taking the time to teach his sons about their proud African heritage then taking them to a local block party to enjoy some good tunes. As corny as it may seem to some, we need more positive songs and images for the youth to see and digest. Esperanza Spalding’s new album Radio Music Society releases March 20th, be sure to cop that when it drops….
