J. Cole – “Crooked Smile” feat. TLC (Video)

This is an impactful cut (and video) off J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” LP. “Crooked Smile” features legendary R&B act TLC. Of course, you’ll watch to the end because it’s Cole. But this one will get you! Remember to breathe midway through, and pay attention to the background music as the video draws to a close. American law enforcement should reconsider a lot of things. Deep.

J. Cole – “Let Nas Down” feat. Nas (Remix)

J.-Cole-Let-Nas-Down-Remix-ft.-Nas

So, J. Cole has explained the pain he went through – bowing to industry pressure – on his track “Let Nas Down”… thinking that he… let Nas down. Truth is, he hadn’t. Ask Nas himself

Well, that’s just Twitter. If Nas really felt that way, he’d do a song with Cole, right? Done! This is the remix.

The Day ‘J.Cole’ Retired His Mom From Her Post Office Job (Video)

I know his camp’s build up for the coming J. Cole project “Born Sinner” (due out June 25, 2013) is meant to be about Cole (Cole World, right?)… but this is deep stuff featuring his mom. Happy Mother’s Day

‘Part 1 of J. Cole’s Bornsinner.com series; a conceptual digital platform created by the Dreamville collective. The first installment documents the day J. Cole retired his mother Kay Cole from her job at the United States Postal Service.’

– JColeMusic

Definitely different from the bought-my-momma-a-house brag rap. Note the line from “Cole Summer” (song we posted here earlier) at the end. It’s real.

J. Cole – “Cole Summer”

artworks-000046825449-m6m5rt-t500x500Listen to this twice (suggestion). The lyrics go deep! J. Cole says this joint is NOT a preview. This is the real deal… He is putting it all on the line in the months leading up to his next release. And apparently, if this next album flops… it’s back to the post office for both him AND his mom! Yeah, he said that *ish. Listen! This “Cole Summer” track is probably NOT slated for Cole’s LP “Born Sinner” (due out June 25, 2013)… if you take Vibe Magazine’s word for it.

J. Cole – “Truly Yours” (EP)

j-cole-truly-yours-500x500

J. Cole has shared some music from his vault with us in the form of a five-track EP. With assurances that there is so much more in the vault and more music on the way, Cole offers words of thanksgiving and affirmation:

I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album… And I have… It’s hard as f*ck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..

The wait is over.

Truly Yours,

Born Sinner

PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.

J. Cole Rocks Lollapalooza (Video)

Sometimes it feels like J. Cole gets overlooked for regular radio airplay around the country & his popularity sometimes feels like it’s understated. If you needed any evidence of just how understated his popularity is just check out this Billboard clip of the North Carolina emcee & producer rocking this huge crowd in Chicago at Lollapalooza 2012. It’s always great to see true fans rock with an artist & can sing their songs verbatim. Niiice!

J. Cole – Sideline Story (Video)

New video from “FayetteNam” North Carolina’s own J. Cole off of his latest “Cole World: Sideline Story” album. When I hear J. Cole’s “Sideline story” single I can’t help but think of CRU’s Just Another Case” joint from over a decade ago. It’s largely because they both employed the same sample for their joints which are different but still come off dope.

Diggy Simmons – “What You Say To Me” (J. Cole Diss)

Apparently this new song Diggy Simmons dropped today was in response to what he perceived as a diss on J. Cole’s “Grew Up Fast” song that was released a few weeks back. I honestly don’t believe what J. Cole said was a diss aimed at Diggy Simmons at all. I’d bet money that J. Cole’s “Grew Up Fast” was really going at Jay-Z & Kanye West who didn’t put him on tour with them while he had a new album coming out. J. Cole may never admit it for ‘business reasons’, but I’d put $100 on that theory. Now let’s remember it’s April Fool’s Day so it’s still very possible that this so called escalating ‘battle’ is really a joke & publicity stunt. Diggy’s debut album under performed sales-wise recently & ironically the album should have had more songs like these instead of him possibly listening to his team who appears to have been pushing him to go “pop” too fast with the “copy & paste” formula without building on the talent he does genuinely possess. Like I said before….It’s April Fool’s Day so it maybe all over tomorrow.
