R&B: Miguel – “Candles In The Sun” (Video)
New soulful offering from Miguel entitled “Candles in the Sun.” Check out the visuals for it above; and what the singer has to say about his joint below:
“It’s so easy to ignore what’s right in front of us sometimes. I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life as I know it in the world that we live in.”
Miguel’s latest effort – “Kaleidoscope Dream” – is available now. We got that link for you to cop (from an earlier post) below.

Phil Beaudreau – “This Is Why” feat. Dawaun Parker
This is on some old soul and jazz with a little boom bap for the rap. Not gonna fret over what to call it as far as the genre. Phil Beaudreau’s “This Is Why” (featuring Dawaun Parker) is good music. That’s what it is. And check the lyrics:
And it’s got a message. This is why it’s dope.
R&B: Om’mas Keith – “All 4 You” feat. Erykah Badu x Shafiq Husayn (D-Felic ReFix)

R&B: BJ The Chicago Kid – “Honey”
BJ The Chicago Kid has some great music that I’ve been occasionally going back to over the last year like his “Good Good Love” collabo with rap artist Rapsody & my favorite “Good Luv’n” off of his “Pineapple Now-Laters” project. With that said it’s a good thing he’s not one of these artists that’s been constantly throwing out disposable material on the internet every day of the week. His label reps over at Motown are claiming that this new joint “Honey” produced by B!nk is his official first single. Right away when I peeped that producer & singer/songwriter combination I knew this joint was gonna sound good & I wasn’t disappointed. Nice little nods lyrically to Aaliyah’s hit record ‘Rock The Boat’ & the Bee Gee’s heavily sampled 1979 classic ‘Love You Inside Out’.
Phil Beaudreau – “This Is Why” feat. Dawuan Parker
I haven’t heard not one subpar record from newcomer Phil Beaudreau upon discovering his music within the past year. His unique vocals coupled with the production talent of producer Dawuan Parker is a winning combination for him. Without question “This Is Why” I believe this kid could make an even larger impact in the music industry if he wants to & if the stars align properly.
R&B/Soul: Tweet – “Enough”
Good scoop from SoulBounce. Tweet is finally dropping her EP “Simply Tweet“ after teasing us with weekly #TweetTuesdays leaks last summer. Tweet recently signed to MC Lyte’s DuBose Music Group. So… Lyte doing that work for the Jordan campaign… and the Tweet signing and coming release… Hmm. Nice moves.

R&B: Dawn Richard – “NLX”
Time and again, I say again and again: The industry is sleeping on Dawn! Here’s “NLX” by Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane and Diddy Dirty Money), off the deluxe edition of her album “Goldenheart.”
DAWN RICHARDÂ -Â GOLDENHEART (ALBUM)
R&B: Elli Ingram – “Poetic Justice” (video)
Respect to for TheNext2Shine the scoop on this one. Elli Ingram, a 19-year old singer from the United Kingdom, has been making YouTube noise as of late. Above, video of Elli and her remake of “Poetic Justice†by Kendrick Lamar and Drake (a retake of “Any Time, Any Place” by Janet Jackson). New music built from the old – Young Guru really dropped the knowledge on stuff like this. See an earlier post on that here.
Alternative: Frank Ocean – “Novacane” (LAKIM Edit)
LAKIM puts his spin on “Novacane” by Frank Ocean. Remember when we posted on Young Guru speaking on how modern music gets made by taking-and-remaking? This is that… in the best and most classic way! Good trance music refixx for weekend vibing. Respect to DJ Rahdu over at BamaLoveSoul for hipping us to this.

R&B: Kevin McCall – “High Remix” feat. Tank
Cali singer, songwriter, & producer Kevin McCall returns with a remix to his very good “High” joint but this time the only major tweak to the original version is he’s added R&B singer Tank to the record. I’m gonna drag this joint into one of my R&B slow jam playlists & put it on one of the next R&B mixtapes I put together. In the meantime you can check out more from Kevin McCall on his upcoming “Definition” mixtape that drops on Valentines Day February 14th.

Drake- “Started From The Bottom”
Interesting Drake’s new song “Started From The Bottom” almost has a traditional boom bap sound to it & he’s doing more rapping than singing on this particular joint…I can dig it…Seems like he’s getting back to basics & bringing it ‘back from the bottom’ with this joint.
