Technology: The World’s First Supersonic Skydiver (Video)

Okay, I tagged this one “technology” but it should really be “adventure.” This past Sunday, Austrian former paratrooper Felix Baumgartner finally got to fulfill his latest mission… to skydive from over 24 miles up AND become the first human to break the sound barrier without a vehicle! Interestingly enough, Chuck Yeager celebrated the 65th anniversary of his breaking the sound barrier (in a supersonic vehicle). Whew! These guys are a couple of man’s men… and NERDS (can’t do this and be stupid y’all)… at the same damn time! Big up to space research like this… and to those who BOLDLY go where none have gone before. Respect!

This joint will be on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to “The Man With The Iron Fists” (a Quentin Tarantino film, directed by and starring RZA). Former ‘Reading Rainbow’ Host Levar Burton Speaks on Romney’s Promise to Cut PBS Funding (Video)

Levar Burton is not alone in his outrage over U.S. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s debate declaration – that he would cut funding for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) – but Burton went a step further in expressing it. Burton says it was, in effect, a declaration of war on underprivileged children!
On Soledad O’Brien‘s “Starting Point†(video from CNN above), Burton continued:
Now, I enjoy PBS programming; but I am a full-grown, educated, man. I can ‘do without.’ But when Burton focuses on the impact to children’s access to educational programming…well, it should give us all pause. Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks on Current TV) covers the Bill O’Reilly – Jon Stewart face-off last Saturday night. The “Rumble In The Air-Conditioned Auditorium” was not the first time the two men have debated, but this time discussion was long enough to be called a debate. With lots of humor woven in, the two made points in their signature spirited (but not mean-spirited) manner. Cenk, in the video above, recaps the event held at a university in Washington, DC.
