Quadron is a Danish duo consisting of singer Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj and producer Robin Hannibal. The duo makes electric soul or what some call emo soul. I don’t understand the term “emo soul” because if it’s coming from the soul it’s always emotional. This joint is nice song to relax to. The beat and the vocals work together so well.

Snoop Dogg Recording Session For ‘Detox’ with West Coast Producers (Video)

Snoop Dogg gathered some of the West Coast’s greatest producers for a special recording session geared towards Dr. Dre’s upcoming ‘Detox’ album. DJ Quik, Battlecat, 1500 Or Nothing, & DJ Pooh are given a pep talk from Snoop about what kind of heat they need to bring to get Dr. Dre’s attention for the project. This video is really dope because it shows the true friendship among many of Cali’s finest, but it also displays another side of Snoop when it comes to articulating what he wants from a production standpoint. Snoop also makes a great point that if the song doesn’t bang in the first 10 seconds nobody, including Dr. Dre, will like it. I tend to agree with that theory for the most part. Mos Def Demands BET Awards Show Tribute For Troy Davis (Video)

Mos Def & Talib Kweli were scheduled to perform here in Atlanta last Thursday night, but the show was cancelled following the recent execution of Troy Davis by the state of Georgia. As Black Star, Mos & Kweli opted to cancel their show in protest. I’m not mad & I applaud them for doing so. Troy Davis will officially be buried this Saturday & almost simultaneously the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards will be taking place in Atlanta. While at their Miami show Mos Def took the opportunity to send a message to the powers at BET to make sure they dedicated a segment to a man who was executed with no evidence of guilt. Should be interesting to see how many other artists will speak out if given the platform.

Singer & producer Syd Tha Kid is a part of that Odd Future collective that has been gaining plenty of publicity in the media. Syd, alongside fellow Odd Future member Matt Martians make up the duo called “The Internet”. The jury had been out with me on Odd Future outside of the great work of Frank Ocean, but if the rest of the collective keeps turning over quality like this “Love Song” right here then they’ll have a new fan in me. This joint right here is straight R&B/Soul, but the only problem I have with the song is that it’s way too short….
