Mobb Deep – “Cop Hell” (Prod. By DJ Premier)

This joint is so ’90s! A step to the left style-wise for the Mobb. Up-tempo flow. Preemo beat work from Havoc and Prodigy (RIP) to beat up! Previously unreleased heat that was shelved when Ice-T caught mad bad heat for dropping “Cop Killer.”

THIS SONG WAS PULLED FROM THE “JUVENILE HELL” LP AFTER THE WHOLE ICE-T “COP KILLER” SONG WAS SHOCKING THE WORLD; SO MOBB DEEP’s LABEL 4TH & B’WAY REMOVED IT AS WELL…

SOME COPIES LEAKED, BUT MOST DJ’s DON’T HAVE IT.

ME, PRODIGY AND HAVOC GOT PULLED OVER BY THE COPS IN 1993 AND THEY WERE ON SOME FOUL SHIT, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITHOUT THEM FINDING OUT HOW DIRTY THE CAR WAS BACK THEN…

SO WE WROTE THIS SONG ABOUT IT…

HERE IT IS UNCUT…

WE ARE GONNA MISS YOU PRODIGY…(R.I.P.)

CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY…

Havoc Speaks On Coming Up In Queensbridge, Mobb Deep, And Losing Prodigy (Video)

RIP Prodigy for real. And if anyone, ANYONE, should be heard on that, it’s Havoc. They have been through it in all ways – on the come up, after the Mobb fame wave ebbed, falling out with each other, squashing the beef finally, and then… damn.

After the untimely death of Prodigy, DJ Vlad sits down with his longtime friend and the other half of Mobb Deep, Havoc. Havoc details what it was like growing up in Queensbridge, their first rap names, and reveals Prodigy turned down a deal to work with him at first. The producer then goes on to talk about making their first album, Prodigy teaching him how to sample and them getting a deal at LOUD records.

Throughout the conversation Havoc discusses some of the milestones in their career from the ‘Hennesy’ shirts, creating “Shook Ones,” dissing 2Pac before his death, their beef with Jay-Z, and what it was like seeing Lil Kim write her “Quiet Storm” verse. Hav also speaks on the rumor of P choking on an egg and the cause of his death before looking back on the legacy that they left in Hip-Hop.

Listen to Havoc pay respect to his brother above.

Just hours after news of Prodigy’s passing got out, Fat Joe was already over at Mass Appeal HQ, so staffers pulled The Don in front of the camera to discuss P’s legacy.

When you talk about the New York sound, you know, nothing is more authentic and true to the New York sound than Mobb Deep… I place [Prodigy] in the Mount Rushmore of Hip-Hop… He’s a real treasure.
– Mass Appeal

Look at Joe. It’s like he cannot believe Prodigy is gone. Neither can we.

ESPN and Hip-Hop go together and the relationship don’t stop. Word to Stuart Scott – RIP respect. Mobb Deep – “All A Dream” feat. The L.O.X. (Video)

It may seem like a dream but it’s real. Mobb Deep & The L.O.X. connect on some Queensbridge-Yonkers type ‘ish for this new video with the Biggie sample from his classic ‘Juicy’ record. It’s crazy to think it took this long for Prodigy, Havoc, Styles P, Sheek Louch, & Jadakiss to collaborate altogether in some way.  Maybe it’s a start of good things to come in terms of crew collabos.  For now peep the new video & cop the song off the latest Mobb Deep album ‘The Infamous Mobb Deep LP’ that’s out now.
