Yeah, this is gonna work! Denzel’s capability to bring new life to classic gritty concepts (exhibit A: his performance in “The Equalizer”), combined with some weighty co-star casting and that the target audience will be folks who’d like a reboot of the original “Magnificent Seven” movie AND folks who may not have even born when that was released… And the trailer is kick azz. Let’s go!

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ “The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). Shame (Short Film Trailer)

Talk about selling an album and a movie… at the same damn time! Tying in Tyrese’s last album “Black Rose” with this new Denzel Washington-produced short film “Shame.” The film casts Tyrese as the lead, playing an up and coming singer in 1968. The storyline was inspired by the single “Shame” off the Tyrese album. The super sexy Jennifer Hudson plays the wife, suffering through abuse and infidelity while trying to stay strong.

Ran across this interview with Denzel Washington that my homie DVD out in L.A. put me onto. In this interview Denzel speaks on turning down a role in a movie he called “The Nigga They Couldn’t Kill”. I thought what Denzel said in this video was very powerful in terms of the ultimate decisions he made with the film & the advice he sought & was given from the legendary Sidney Poitier regarding his choices.
