I have four years of Art History under my belt so I have seen Impressionist, Renaissance, Baroque you name it. Happy to say that Naturally Born Strangers has shown me something I have never seen in regards to Fine Art. In this new visual “Jameson Ave” NBS who consists of Adam Bomb, Rich Kidd, and Tona they literally shoot the video inside of a painting. So instead of seeing men perched on horses in regal poses and clothing. The video shows scenes of the guys with ladies in bikinis, Rich Kidd doing donuts with Rob Ford in the passenger seat Tona hurling into a toilet. If I were an Art History professor I would have my class do a lesson on this video without question. Well done fellas well done.

From the obvious (riffs and passages within the catalog) to the obscure (samples of Miles’ in-studio instructions spoken after false starts), Glasper has built something unique but still unquestionably Miles.

Playing this, it sounds just like you’d expect “Gangsta Boogie” to sound. Snoop & Kokane do the right things lacing this special J Dilla track. And make no mistake, all of the late great Dilla’s tracks are special. But this one, just that much more so because it is off “The Diary.”
The Estate of James Yancey has revived J Dilla’s longstanding company PayJay as a functioning imprint to release Dilla’s long lost vocal album, “The Diary” on April 15th, in conjunction with Mass Appeal Records. Initially intended for release in 2002, “The Diary” is the final batch of unissued material that Dilla had assembled for release during his lifetime.

Lots of meaty gravy to extract and spread all over the tracks. The result was a dope beat; so dope, Shaka Zulu was already mouthing lyrics to it as he and K.R.I.T. listened.
