Last night on Saturday Night Live the crew poked a little fun at Jay-Z, Beyonce, & their newborn daughter Blu Ivy. With all the media hype surrounding the birth of the hip hop couple’s kid this skit follows what it would be like if Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver (played by Justin Timberlake), Prince, Taylor Swift, & other guests stop by with well wishes. On a side note, Justin Timberlake needs to do more comedy movies or television. Dude has such a great comedic sense & is a pretty good actor…

Heavyweight Championship Post Fight Press Conference Brawl (Video)

Like most people I haven’t been that excited about Heavyweight Boxing in years man…It just hasn’t been that interesting or exciting to me & the increasing popularity of Mixed Martial Arts doesn’t help either. British Boxer Dereck Chisora lost to the big Russian Vitali Klitschko over the weekend & during the post fight press conference Chisora got into a shouting match with former WBA Heavyweight champion & South London product David Haye that escalated into a crazy brawl & concluded with verbal threats of shootings & leaving individuals cut by shards of glass. I spotted this video over at Terez Owens & I’d have to agree that lately these press conference antics are more exciting than the fights these days. Even the Pre-fight press conference was filled with controversy when Klitschko was spat on by Chisora….

Satuday Night Live: “Linsanity” (Video)

The Jeremy Lin “Insanity” that’s been happening OFF the court has been borderline racist at times. ESPN recently fired one staffer for the insensitive “Chink In The Armor” headline & suspended one of their sportscasters for a month for repeating it live on air. It wasn’t just ESPN taking things a little too far as NY print media have even fallen victim to it, but SNL’s skit last night was a well played lesson on some of the absurdity of all the racial insensitivity that’s been carried out in the media recently. Hopefully people watching got the underlying message & not just the jokes….

Jon B used to be that dude with some quality R&B work & collaborations. His “Cool Relax” album still gets some burn from me from time to time because there were so many great joints such as the title track “Cool Relax” , “I Do”, “Bad Girl”, “Shine”, “Don’t Say”, “They Don’t Know”, & his collabo with Tupac “Are You Still Down?”. I didn’t even know he had a new album coming out independently until I saw someone tweet about this new video of his called “Only One”. The song appears on his new album “Comfortable Swag” that just dropped on Valentines Day in iTunes. Yeah I know what you’re thinking….I hate the use of “swag” in the title as well, but I definitely dig the song. I’m gonna have to give the new album a good listen…

New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin aka “Super-Lintendo” took a minute with Fuse to speak on his music tastes & artists he’s feeling. Being a devout Christian it shouldn’t be a surprise that his two favorite artists would be grounded in Christianity in some way. After ESPN’s recent controversially racist “Chink In The Armour” headline following the Knicks loss Friday, Jeremy maybe thinking “They need Jesus” & gone ahead & forgive them by sending ESPN writers some music from Christian rapper Lecrae and Christian rock band Hillsong.

Malaysian artist Yuna dropped this new single produced by Pharrell called “Live Your Life” back in January & since then I’ve had it on repeat quite a few times in one of my itunes playlists. It’s such a really dope song that you subconsciously find yourself hitting repeat on it. Now Yuna is going to have us hitting repeat with this cool new video for “Live Your Life” that will appear on her upcoming album due this April on the new FADER label. Make sure yall check for it….

I ran into the homie King I Divine at Boog Brown’s birthday party in Atlanta last week & he sent over this song that he & Brooklyn emcee Scienze put together for their collaborative “Divine ScienZe” EP that officially drops March 13th. Already familiar with King I Divine’s production skills I just knew the song would have to be fiyah & I wasn’t surprised when I finally heard the joint. I had to bang the jawn out on my radio show last Saturday night something serious. Right when I’m enjoying the audio the brothas put out a new video at just the right time too. Niiiiiiice!

I saw massive amounts of people tweeting about DJ Premier rocking on Hot 97 in NYC at noon for their Black Fist Friday series in celebration of Black History month. At the time I wasn’t in a position to listen in live & as a matter of fact I still haven’t gotten around to fully listening to the mix that Questlove did in honor of J Dilla last week, but I’ll get to that eventually this weekend. After a few hours I noticed DJPremierBlog had it up on Primo’s site as well as MissInfo who works at the station. Had to download it & peep it once I had time like now…. I like how DJ Premier started things off with Jeru Tha Damaja’s underground classic “Frustrated N*gga”. Dopeness…

It’s been a minute since Colin Munroe dropped something where he wasn’t just the featured artist on someone else’s song. I can definitely say I’m a fan of his music & would like to see him eventually get more just deserved fruits of his talent in a greater capacity. Ironically with a song called “The Fight Of My Life” maybe the Canadian singer, songwriter, & all around musician is beginning to turn the tables with Pusha T as the featured on his new joint.
