Fatin – The Boondocks Backflips

Fatin worked along side 9th Wonder in creating the soundtrack to The Boondocks Season 2. Fatin is a member 9th’s Soul Council that produces a majority of the beats for his artists. This project is a mesh of tracks used for the soundtrack and unheard beats tagged with sound clips from the show.

The people over at Brooklyn Bodega followed Homeboy Sandman around for this ‘A Day In The Life’ piece as sorta of a mini-doc & promo for the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival next weekend. Homeboy Sandman is on the bill & I’m not surprised as he’s one of the best performers I’ve seen on the come up. Homeboy Sandman is on the bill along with Kendrick Lamar, Random Axe, M.O.P., & too many others to name. Takes place July 16th at the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza & Tobacco Warehouse in you happen to be in NYC next weekend.

Little Dragon – ‘Ritual Union’ (Tensnake Remix)

When I heard this joint from Little Dragon’s latest Ritual Union EP I literally played this joint several times over. The band dropped this EP as an appetizer before the release of their full length album of the same title, Ritual Union, drops on July 26th. German producer, DJ Tensnake, flipped this remix & I’m honestly feeling this remix better than the original joint. This track will be on constant repeat with me until the album drops on the 26th.

Now this is just what I needed right now. Some dope jazzy soulful instrumental vibes with no emcee talking all over the track. This is just some great new cool out music right here from the Cali based DJ & producer Freddie Joachim (pronounced JO-AH-KIM). These tracks makes me feel like taking a flight to back to Brazil or something. Makes me want fly out to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, or Puerto Rico & hit the ‘Waves’. I’m gonna need to go back & load Freddie’s entire instrumental catalog into my itunes. For now we’re just gonna have this baby on repeat. But don’t thank me….Thank Freddie on twitter.

Q-Tip, Ali, & Phife (via phone), join Q-Tip’s former girlfriend Angie Martinez up at Hot 97 New York to talk about the documentary & the controversy surrounding it. The film officially hits selected theaters tomorrow, but this time Q-tip mentions that he’s FINALLY on board with the project. All drama aside it’s still a dope documentary…Not sure what Q-Tip’s real issue was but who knows. Maybe Q-Tip & Michael Rapaport created the drama to further build interest. Who knows…who cares. I think Phife handled everything well overall & I have to agree. For such an iconic group that they are I just want people to see the film.

I’m really digging this joint right here….Despite his problems with his former peeps over there at G.O.O.D. Music, Consequence has been dropping some good material. It’s a shame they couldn’t work out all of their issues. At least its good to see Kid Cudi & Consequence patched up their previous differences. Consequence is set to drop more joints like this on his Movies On Demand 3 coming soon…. Ski Beats takes us from the record shop back to the lab and flips up a few dope beats that he doesn’t keep. When it comes to flipping samples producers usually try a few different ways to run the samples. There are a lot of dope flips that they just don’t use. Ski doesn’t really feel the last flip but he keeps it anyway cause he knows somebody may like it and choose it to rhyme on. This is the same process a lot of producers go through when they are making beats.
