Lifestyle: You’re In Los Angeles. You’re High. What Do You Do Next? (Video)

A weed travel show. Excellent idea! And an appropriately laid-back episode to boot.

On VICE’s weed travel show ‘BLUNT REVIEWS,’ we trek to places where weed is legal to review things a cannabis-consuming tourist can do while they’re stoned. On this episode, VICE’s Darlene Demorizi spent a day getting blazed in Los Angeles, where she cured her munchies at Pink’s Hot Dogs, a historic restaurant that tops franks with guacamole and nacho cheese. Then she unwound at Lit Yoga, a THC-friendly studio, and stopped by Puff Pass & Paint to make a little art over a glass of CBD-infused wine.

Travel: Cab Drivers Earn More Than Doctors In Cuba (Mini-Documentary)

Yep. You read that title right: As far as earning potential goes, Cab Driver > Doctor (or Engineer, for that matter). Where they do that at? Cuba (read the title)! But you may also think to ask, ‘WHY and HOW does the societal value of driver work out to be higher than that of a degreed medical practitioner?’ Well, the above mini-documentary will explain. But bet that you will still find yourself saying ‘wowwww!’ Especially when you hear what an average Cuban earns in salary each month…

Cuba’s economy works as a central planning model, where government ministries dole out resources and set everything from prices to inventories to salaries. The fact that a taxi driver can make so much more than a physician is a reflection of the Cuban government’s heavy focus on tourism. For years, the central planning apparatus has valued tourism as a key mechanism for both bringing in revenue as well as propagating the idea that Cuba is thriving. Many pesos are collected by the high prices on everything related to the tourism industry.

Nelson Mandela’s Old Johannesburg Hideout Gives South African Artists & Entrepreneurs A New Home (Video)

Nice! Shout to The Daily Beast for bringing this Johannesburg gem to light. A center for entrepreneurship and culture that was once at the heart of the anti-apartheid movement. In South Africa, if you want to realize a dream, this is the place – apparently to work it or witness the work come to fruition. Great look at the people and art of Johannesburg in this clip.

The hostel reputed to be Nelson Mandela’s apartheid-era hideout is now the center of a network of cultural entrepreneurs who have helped revive the South African city.
