Beanie Sigel Facing Jail Time for Tax Evasion

In a report on ABC News Beanie Sigel is facing jail time for tax evasion. Beans admitted to not filing or paying taxes from 2003 to 2005. He entered a plae of guilty in Federal court in Philadelphia Tuesday. Beans faces up to 3 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 18.
The prosecutors claim he owes $350,000 on $1 million of untaxed income.
Homeboy Sandman Signs with Stones Throw

Big Boi Arrested On Multiple Felony Drug Charges In Miami

“Hip-hop artist Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, one half of the legendary hip hop group Outkast, faces three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance & one count of possession of drug paraphernalia according to booking information posted on the Miami-Dade jail website.
Patton was charged with illegal possession of Viagra and Ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and drug paraphernalia with intent to use, the website said. Bonds totalling $16,000 were set, the site said.
His lawyer, in a statement provided to CNN through his publicist, said Patton was re-entering the United States when the contraband was found.
“While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage,” attorney Daniel Kane said. “I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.”
Patton, 36, is half of the Atlanta-based hip-hop duo Outkast.
OutKast collaborator Killer Mike told CNN last week that Big Boi has reunited with Andre “3000” Benjamin to record again.

August 1st J.Period, Pete Rock, Smif-n-Wessun, and Da Beat Minerz will form like Voltron to record a mixtape live on Beatminerz Radio. The mixtape will be called Live Mixtape: Monumental Edition.
Thsi should be dope. J.Period will be mixing and re-mixing songs along side Mr.Walt, DJ Evil Dee, and Pete Rock and Tek & Steele wil be dropping freestyles. They will also be unreleased tracks from the Monumental LP.

Jay-Z & Kanye Snub Indie Stores

Record Store Day penned a letter to Jay-Z and Kanye asking them to provide independent record stores the same opportunity to sell the Watch the Throne album as Best Buy and iTunes have. These big chains get the exclusive right to sell the album 4 days before the physical release of the album and the indie stores can’t compete with that advantage.
Best Buy has the exclusive deluxe edition of the album for 10 days before anybody else can sell it. People hoping to buy the album are made to buy the album from only these big chains and the mom and pops suffer.

Amy Winehouse Covers Latest Issue Of Vibe Magazine For Aug/Sept

Vibe Magazine wasted no time in their decision to place Amy Winehouse on the cover of their 16th Annual “Juice” issue following the soulful songstresses death. It’s expected that in the upcoming issue they will dive more in depth on the life, career, & various people in Amy Winehouse’s life. One of those people was producer Salaam Remi who had this to say in the following excerpt:
“I’m in London now. I’m out here because [Amy and I] were supposed to go to a wedding today. And before I could get to her yesterday she passed. We were going to the wedding of Nick Symansky, who is the person who really found her. He found her when he was a scout at 19. And he was the manager before they got the Universal deal.
They went ahead with the wedding. All I could do was sit there and imagine how many jokes she would have been cracking with me. We were in the middle of working on the album. She finished writing the record. We just hadn’t recorded.
For the last couple of weeks we were video chatting regularly. I was just talking to Nas. Both her and Nas were born on September 14, so we were going to Barbados with all of them for her birthday. She really doesn’t look forward to her birthday, you know what I’m saying?”

Dame Dash Owes IRS Big Bucks

The Detroit News is reporting that former Roc-a-Fella Records CEO and Jay-Z’s former business partner Dame Dash owes the IRS nearly 3 Million in back taxes.
The IRS just filed a nearly $3 million tax lien against him on June 30th with the New York City Register’s Office.
Dame sold his Roc-a-Wear, and Roc-a-Fella shares years ago and has been making moves with the art gallery, DD172 and with several music acts.
New Wolverine Movie Gets A Villain

Hugh Jackman mentioned during his presser at Comic Con that the next Wolverine flick has a script and is based on the Chris Claremont and Frank Miller limited series from 1982 in which Wolverine battles with The Silver Samurai. I didnt dig the first Wolverine too tough but I’m down for a new movie. Hope this one comes out a little better
