FUPM (Bobby Creekwater x Stat Quo) – “Old School New School” [Video]

Director Derek Deems knows what to do. Bobby Creekwater and Stat Quo (pka FUPM) definitely do work over a sweet John Frederick Harper III beat. But it needs… it needs… a little something more. A touch of honey. Thick honeys, on a sunny afternoon drive to the beach… PLUS the dope track. Now, it’s an “Old School New School” party folks! By the way, the duo’s LP “FUPM Is the Future” is out on iTunes right now.

Ceasar is back this Summer 2014 with ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ which is the sequel to the modern day remake classic ‘Rise of Planet of The Apes’ in 2011.  Look for ‘Dawn of The Planet of The Apes’ July 11, 2014….

“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”Dawn Of Apes

Soul-stirring performance in tribute to the late Nelson Mandela… in South Africa… in a Woolworths produce section. Unexpected? Definitely! Will you LOVE it? DEFINITELY! Watch.

On Saturday, 7 December 2013, Woolworths had planned a performance at our Parkview store in Pretoria to support our Operation Smile Christmas campaign. The Soweto Gospel Choir’s planned a rendition of James Brown’s I Feel Good. But, after Madiba’s passing the choir decided on a tribute instead. They chose Johnny Clegg’s Asimbonanga.

artworks-000065081623-w2towd-t500x500

The “Burning Stones” EP is the result of a collaboration between singer/songwriter Mel and producer Black Milk. The four tracks will take about 20 minutes to get into your head. But they will stay with you much longer. Quality work by the duo. Listen below.

The Dividends – “Fool’s Gold” feat. Raekwon

artworks-000064634634-9sqeut-t500x500

The Dividends (singer Sarah Jaffe + producer S1) recruited Raekwon for some Wu spice on a reggae-bouncy single off their upcoming EP “Far From Away” (due out 2014). The infusion of a raw rapper can switch the flavor of a track in an instant… mellow, and then BOW! Smooth with the roughness to finish. But this “Fool’s Gold” good stuff nonetheless.

Kanye West – “Black Skinhead” (Flying Lotus & Thundercat Remix)

artworks-000065004711-9n7x9w-t500x500The original Yeezy production – “Black Skinhead” – already went out of bounds (BOUND!) and crossed genres (and lines) on its own. Now… let Flying Lotus get in there with an instrumental, and Thundercat clown on it. Seems like we ought to call it more than a remix. Let’s call it damn good and get to playing and replaying it instead of wasting time trying to describe the indescribable, alright?

KANYE WEST – BLACK SKINHEAD (FLYING LOTUS & THUNDERCAT REMIX)

Minister Louis Farrakhan Supports Kanye West’s Socio-Political Comments In The Media (Video)

I’ve gotten into recent debates with people about Kanye West’s statements on entertainers having control of their work & more specifically the Arsenio Hall show analogy he used when he appeared on The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York.  People were quick to applaud Arsenio Hall’s response to Kanye West about what the real reason Arsenio’s late night talk show went off the air years ago, but most many have forget that it was Minister Louis Farrakhan who stated multiple times the reason why Arsenio show was threatened. In fact, when Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on one of the very last episode’s of the Arsenio Hall Show he even said it to Arsenio’s face. Minister Louis Farrakhan also recently expressed his support for Kanye West after he’s been taking heat from various groups in speaking out on a number of issues affecting the black community.  Arsenio made a comment that Kanye West should never used the term ‘Slave’ as an artist, but he never addressed that back in the 90’s when Prince changed his name to ‘The Artist Formerly Known As Prince’ & performed with “Slave” written on his face years ago protesting the same economic issues facing creative artists. Arsenio is largely to blame for Kanye or anyone of us confusing the “facts” because Arsenio never addressed Louis Farrakhan or his fans when he had the opportunity & platform to do so years ago.

Muhammad Ali Goes To Mars (Video)

Nobody does it like ‘The Greatest of All Time’ … then, now, in the ring, on the radio, on Earth, on Mars… Great PBS ‘Blank on Blank’ episode, with less animation but still an animated ‘guest’ in Muhammad Ali. And that whole ‘Mars match’ in this lost interview… was off the top of his head, with a girl in his lap! Talk about freestyling!

The Army & Navy Used Kanye West & Justin Timberlake As Inspiration For Their Annual Football Rivalry (Video)

Artist Tosa Brooks snapping over an instrumental reproduction (by Crsxh) of Kanye West’s “Blood on the Leaves” to amp the West Point footballers (aka Army) for one game and one goal…

“Beat Navy!”

Too bad hype videos don’t win games, as the Navy Midshipmen (of the United States Naval Academy) rolled 34-7 over the Army Black Knights for the 12th year in the row. Nice job though, Tosa. Maybe next year, Army.

So, how many of y’all wonder if Navy did a video. Heh heh, check after the jump. It’s al-riiighht. Hahahaaa!

Jupiter Ascending (Film Trailer)

Oh yeah! Written and directed by Andy & Lana Wachowski (mm hmm, “The Matrix”; that’s where you heard the name ‘Wachowski’)… In this story, humans are flung to the bottom of the pecking order of sentient existence. But the Queen of the Universe still needs to wipe out this one girl… because her very existence threatens to bring the Queen down. But this is way more than ‘Snow White in Space.’ Social commentary meets rock’em-and-sock’em. Classic Wachowski-style cinema.

Our world is a ‘small part of a very large industry’?

Well…damn.

Kids For Cash (Trailer)

Damn shame when we get proof corruption in the system like this. Pennsylvania judge Mark Ciavarella was convicted in 2011 on 12 counts of racketeering and fraud for accepting kickbacks in exchange for sentencing young people to a private, for-profit juvenile detention center… basically selling jailing “Kids for Cash.”; hence, the appropriateness of the documentary’s name. Watch the trailer above.

Talib Kweli – “The Wormhole” (Prod. By Oh No) [Video]

“…It ain’t The Illuminati that worry me… I’m leaking information, so follow me down the wormhole.”

Talib Kweli

Talib Kweli dropping the real knowledge on “The Wormhole” – dispelling a lot of the nonsense so-called insiders speak on ‘The Illuminati.’ Great touch at the start of the video with the late great Tupac Shakur giving some G.T.F.O.H. commentary on folks who are supposed to know about or be Illuminati. “The Wormhole” is off the Kweli LP “Gravitas” (out now).
