N.W.A. Nominated For The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

It’s so crazy how two of my favorite groups of all-time have both been nominated for the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. We saw the announcement from DJ Lord & Flavor Flav about their group Public Enemy’s nomination, but upon closer inspection we also see the guys who put Compton on the map get nominations. Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, & DJ Yella as N.W.A. get the nods as well & the timing couldn’t be anymore perfect as there is already a biographical film that’s currently in production directed by F. Gary Gray to tell their story. Dope!

DJ Lord used Twitter to let the world know that the legendary group Public Enemy, for whom he deejays, has been nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. USA Today posted a brief online reporting the announcement and information on the final selection process:

What’s dope about performances on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ is that dope artists are brought together with the baddest Hip-Hop band in the land. Dopest band = The Roots. Dope artist = Kendrick Lamar. This live performance elevated the enjoyment of “Swimming Pools (Drank)” to another level. Nice! Change In The Game (Film Trailer)

Shout out to Will Feagins, Jr., who has directed many a hot music video we’ve posted on here. Now, the brother brings us “Change in the Game” – a documentary that ‘discusses some of the changes that have affected how Hip-Hop is created and received as well as factors that influenced those changes such as, technology, commercial success and the relationship between the artists new and old.’ Looks like its going to be a dope film indeed. If you want to be among the first to see it, come to Atlanta’s A3C Festival 2012 (follow the link to our prior post on A3C below), where the film will make its debut! Epidemic – “Psychos” (Prod. by Jesse James) [Video]

Epidemic is maintaining momentum for “Monochrome Skies” – the group’s forthcoming full-length album – by releasing a second single (posted the first, “Infinity,” on here recently). This is the video for the single, “Psychos.” Here’s what members Hex One and Tek-nition had to say about the song:
‘“Psychos” is based on the stories of two M.C.’s. One, a jaded underground artist who becomes fed up with the influence of mainstream rap culture, and decides to kidnap, torture and kill one of its main protagonists. The other, a rapper who sold his soul to the industry, lost connection to his roots and became ashamed and discontent with his new-found life. He then decides to end it all.’

Iron Mike Tyson Recuperating After Having Neck Surgery

You know… maybe Iron Mike wasn’t lying when he said he had a spinal injury back in the day (see video after the jump). TMZ has reported that the champ recently underwent neck surgery for a degenerative disk. Apparently, things went well, and Mike will just need to wear that brace for a few weeks.
