T.I., Killer Mike, And David Banner Speak On Community Building & Hood Economics (Video)

You’re already free. Now, act like it!
Killer Mike

Okay, ComplexCon got something here. I mean, that Revolt TV panel event (here) was pretty dope… but this panel event is FIRE!

Killer Mike joins friends Clifford “T.I.” Harris and David Banner for an honest conversation on the economic issues facing neighborhoods of color. The rappers-turned-businessmen share their personal perspective on the importance of buying back, rebuilding, and transforming those communities for the better. In the spirit of giving back, they also discuss the value in teaching kids how to better themselves, and the benefits of working a legitimate job instead of hustling.

Politics: Jeff Johnson Leads A Power-Packed Panel Of Pundits In Discussing Today’s Black Agenda And Campaign 2020 (Video)

This feels like what a TV station calling itself REVOLT should be doing with its platform, at least in significant part. Very varied viewpoints from and in the Black community are presented and explored here, which is a good thing. Folks (e.g. we and the people who want our votes) need to understand that we are not a monolith, a block, a sector, a checklist item, etc. for the campaign… nor do we necessarily ‘win’ when ‘our candidate’ (whatever that means) wins.

Go get a snack and a beverage, and come back focused. ‘Bout to be some real talk. Necessary talk!

T.I., Killer Mike, Candace Owens, Steven Pargett Of Trap The Vote, Katrina Pierson, & Tamika D Mallory have an open and honest conversation about politics, and the culture we live in today.

Be forewarned: You will get agitated and frustrated. Hang in there. Especially because there is thoughtful, useful insight shared EVERY TIME we get a chance to hear from Killer Mike. Much respect and respek on the name Michael Render!

Killer Mike Speaks On His Upbringing In Activism & Campaign 2020 (Video)

‘Trigger Warning’ is as much a tribute to public broadcasting television as any Michael Moore film… PBS taught me it’s okay to put a message in what you’re doing. It’s okay to be overtly positive in that message. I got that directly from Public Broadcasting…
Killer Mike

That’s DOPE! And many people shed a tear over that Mr. Rogers documentary to be certain.

C Tha God & Killer Mike with some REAL conversation on segregation, reparations, Bernie Sanders, the 2020 Campaign and more. Great episode of Emerging Hollywood.

Killer Mike Speaks On How Buying Black Benefits Society As A Whole (Video)

Mike calls Vlad a friend and vice versa. Wonder if he considers Vlad an ‘ally’ like his RTJ homie El-P. Gotta watch “Trigger Warning” to really get the fullness of the difference, but an ‘ally’ is down for the cause; way past friendship.

Killer Mike spoke to VladTV about working for ten years to get his new show “Trigger Warning” picked up before Netflix came along. He explained that FX was originally interested and allowed them to use the footage that they filmed for a demo roll to shop to other networks. During the conversation, Killer Mike spoke about the first episode, where he lived within a Black-owned economy for 60 hours, which he offered as a challenge to viewers. To hear more, including Killer Mike’s thoughts on why it should be easier to live in a Black economy.

Netflix & Killer Mike Are Giving Us A “Trigger Warning” With No Due Respect (Trailer)

And wowww… How about Killer Kill From Adamsville is getting his Netflix and no-chill on, too! Killer Mike will have a six-part mini-series that is like… well… Hasan Minhaj meeting Sacha Baron Cohen at a WTF rally with Dr. Umar Johnson as the featured speaker.

“In six episodes, we explore the human condition using nontraditional approaches. Not everyone will agree with my methods (and some of what we’re putting out is f**king crazy), but this show is about embracing your freedom to challenge societal expectations and conformity. This show is as if an anarchist determined the status quo.”
Michael Render pka Killer Mike

“Trigger Warning With Killer Mike” debuts January 18, 2019, on Netflix.

Killer Mike & Colion Noir: The Controversial Gun Conversation (Video)

Interesting and compelling. Usually, the rhetoric on gun control gets dumped onto either side of a ‘wall’ – (1) take the guns or (2) don’t take my guns – and folks on either side of the wall call folks on the other side crazy (or worse).

Well, when we get someone that maybe both sides should LISTEN to, then decide on how ‘crazy’ or not their arguments are, maybe we can take some bricks out of that wall and see good points to consider on each side.

But who is such a ‘someone’ though? How about Killer Mike? Seriously. Watch.

Colion Noir sits down with rapper, actor and activist Killer Mike to have the gun culture conversation no media, politician, celebrity or anti-gun protestor has the courage to engage in.

Just remember: Mike will speak his mind in the clip. Just saying. Now get to playing…

Killer Mike On Why People, White And Black, Are Mad (Video)

Damn. Michael Render with the real talk. Gotta use Killer Mike’s government name because it’s so real! Ever wonder why poor and working class White people vote against their interests… aligning with Republicans who want to defund programs that benefit them and give tax cuts for citizens who make way more than they do? Because the flag-waving and make-American-great-again chanting has them thinking the ‘trickle down’ from those ‘job creators’ will become a wave of prosperity they can ride to the top [and someday join the 1%]?

Nah… Mike says it’s because they’re mad, son!

I think poor White people are mad because the system that promises you something based on that isn’t ever going to give you that … Poor white people during the civil rights movement in Mississippi they were treated as badly as any Black worker. But because there was an imaginary line of race got put there and they can still say they are superior to this person, they never joined with the Black worker to fight better conditions for them all.
Killer Mike

But hold up, Black people. Mike has some biting words for his people, too.

A must watch!

(Yeah. We ALL have a right to be angry. But what are we gonna do about it?)

Don’t Walk! Run The Jewels… NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (Video)

Let the E&J and lyrics and booming beats FLOW! RTJ on NPR for an intimate, but no-less-energized [Tiny Desk] Concert with rhyme buddies El-P and Killer Mike. Okay, in case you don’t follow Run The Jewels… have any kids leave the F**KING room NOW! Liquor and lyrics laced with profanity and adult dopeness. Party time! Let’s GO!

Mina Tavakoli | February 6, 2017 — Like any good pair of twins, Run the Jewels have a freaky sort of unspoken fraternity. When El-P and Killer Mike strode in with their usual uniforms — Mike in a gold chain as thick as a garter snake, El in a fitted Yankees cap and pair of blue-mirrored sunglasses — the two didn’t have to do as much as nod to one another before upending three tracks from their latest LP, RTJ3, in strange and perfect symbiosis.

El-P (née El-Producto, née Jaime Meline) — rapper, producer, and all-around godfather of the backpacker scene of the late-90’s — and Killer Mike — known for guest features on tracks by Atlanta’s Dungeon Family in the early-aughts, solo work in the mid-to-late ’00s, and perhaps most widely for his very public support of Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign last year — have out-mused each other in a supergroup that somehow seems to get better, louder, and more pertinent since their start in 2013. They represent an ideal evolution of underground hip-hop to mainstream success, mixing a fundamentally activist animus with IMAX-level production without losing a speck of vital force.

On an unseasonably beautiful day in D.C., Run the Jewels was sweaty and sulfuric, ad-libbing with one another in an exchange so slick, easy, and conspiratorial, it felt like we were in on their shared language.

Run the Jewels 3 is available now!
