WTF Moment Of The Week: Gucci Mane’s Ice Cream Tattoo On His Face

Upon hearing the news of Gucci Mane getting 3 scoops of ice cream tatted on his face, the owners of Ben & Jerry’s decided to offer a new flavor ….”Gucci Mango”. BURR! (Sigh) If the rap career & the money dries up there’s always work at the circus. I don’t understand the obsession some celebrities & people have with getting an excessive amount of tattoos on their face, but after the jump take a look at some who have.

Mr. Porter Nas “Untitled” Beattape

Mr.Porter
From Mr. Porter’s Twitter.

How many people got a problem with the word NIGGA?
So the reason I asked is, Round the time Nas album was titled it I was submitting beats for it. This was also a good start to jump back into the game because after the tragedy of Proof and Dilla I wasn’t fucking with music. So while coming outta depression I made a beat cd for the Nigga album. When I submit music to artist I do a album worth of songs the way I hear the album and they pick what they like (yea it’s my OCD way of submitting music). Any way I’m gonna share that album with my fans and friends this morning.
God sent snow today so since u niggas aint goin no where enjoy these beats that never saw the nigga album”. – Mr. Porter

Raekwon – Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang

DOWNLOAD:  RAEKWON – SHAOLIN VS. WU-TANG   DIRTY VERSION |   CLEAN VERSION

Although I’m running a blog now I’ve always thought it would be a smart move for artists to release a clean version of their music first so commercial & college radio DJs can give a song some burn before dropping a dirty version for free.   I understand most fans want the dirty version right away, but I would rather see an artist let the buzz on a song build a little before releasing the uncut raw.  Just my 2 cents, but its that type of work smarter ethic that allows artists like the God Raekwon to keep winning these last couple of years. Check out the title track from Raekwon’s upcoming album ‘Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang’ due March 8th.

Documentary: J Is For Junkie Trailer (Video)

J Is For Junkie is a documentary directed by Corey Davis following the lives of people in the streets of Atlanta who are battling crack addiction. From the director:

“Greedmont TV and Creative Control presents J or Junkie. This is my first serious attempt at film making… Growing up I never had a father, because he was out running the streets getting high… Right around the time I was born, the mid 80′s, African-American communities across the country was struck by the crack epidemic. Which robbed us our prideful culture and instantly perverted it into a counter-culture where playgrounds became warzones and families were destroyed.

Growing up, I never really respected junkies… I Just always knew they couldn’t be trusted and they made fucked up decisions… But one day in October, I decided to start filming a group crack addicts in Atlanta who live outside in a small cove behind a Texaco, infamously dubbed as the “Living Room” who share their stories and tell us what it’s like to battle a deadly addiction to crack-cocaine. Their stories would change me forever… [Directed by Corey Davis]”

Atlanta Based Emcee Cali Carma Is No Longer ‘Tired Of Rap’ (VIDEO + MP3s)

DOWNLOAD: CALI CARMA – HEAR ME OUT (CLEAN VERSION) | DIRTY VERSION

One of my favorite tracks from last year was sent to me in a rather nonchalant manner by the homie Cali Carma. I always knew Cali Carma & his homie Tommy Nova were two ill individuals on the mic, but didn’t know what to expect when they broke up as a group & decided to do more solo work although they are still close friends. I think I’ve known both of these guys since they were young 16 year old spittaz doing their thing in Atlanta. Tommy Nova has been working with Raekwon from Wu-Tang & doing more production work, while Cali had at one time mentioned he was ‘Tired Of Rap’. Ironically it’s the name of his new mixtape. Although their styles are different Cali Carma has been on tour with the Atlanta swap/rap group Travis Porter & gaining new fans in the process. I didn’t know how dope this joint “Hear Me Out” from Cali was gonna be until I found myself playing it on the radio show almost every week. It’s a certified banger in my opinion. He needs to shoot a high quality video for ‘Hear Me Out’ as well because it bangs. I know Cali said he was ‘Tired of Rap’ & his lyrical talent hasn’t waned, but it’s good to see he’s inspired again. “I Got A Tupac Frame, But I’mma Do It BIG” – Cali Carma

Producer Illastrate Draws Musical Pictures With Eddie Coleman’s Friday Night Theme Music

Although he originally hails from the midwest, Illastrate has been one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets on production duties for a few years now. He’s been the go to guy for many artists representing quality Soul & true school Hip Hop music. He recently dropped a new album on his birthday at the end of 2010 called ‘Eddie Coleman’s Friday Night Theme Music’ with the track ‘Inner G’ as the lead single. The Inner G track is so smooth I’ve even used it as a music bed on my radio show to talk over. I’ll give you a taste of the the Inner G track in this post but make sure you check out & support illastrate’s bandcamp page & website Working Class Music Group. Quality work

PrimaDonna: DJ Premier & Madonna Collaborate On New Music

DJ Premier has been doing plenty of production work for a number of pop artists like Christina Aguillera in recent years. There were also rumors that swirled that even Madonna reached out to DJ Premier to record with him. It’s rather ironic considering DJ Premier didn’t make the cut on Kanye West or even Eminem’s recent albums, but he still gets the nod from pop icons. Well it appears the rumors of working with Madonna appear to be true as a snippett of one of the new songs makes it’s way to the web. DJ Premier + Madonna = PrimaDonna?
