Chicago Hip-Hop icon Twista is well-known for his tongue-twisting, rapid-fire rhymes, so Genius put his fast rapping expertise to use for the latest episode of ‘The Cosign.’

Twista, who was named in the 1992 Guinness Book of World Records for rapping 11.2 syllables per second, gave his take on some of the new generation’s fast flows. Dame Dash Evaluates Some Of The Hottest New Female Rappers Out Now (Video)

I will admit. This is not entirely what I would have expected from Dame on this topic, but there’s nothing out of line with what the boss says. You don’t have to entirely agree. I don’t. But I do entirely respect this piece. And all the Eye Candy… I mean… It is noon (c’mon son)!

Dame Dash made a name for himself as a co-founder of the iconic Hip-Hop label, Roc-A-Fella, so he knows a thing or two about emerging artists. For this episode of ‘The Cosign,’ we recruited the self-proclaimed “boss” to review videos from up and coming women in rap.

From Megan Thee Stallion’s “Big Ole Freak” to Bhad Bhabie’s “Babyface Savage” to Melii’s “See Me,” Dash shared his thoughts on some of Hip-Hop’s newest acts.

Production is handled by Mannie Fresh, who served as the architect of Cash Money’s signature sound from the early ’90s to mid-2000s.

Styles P & Dave East Discussing If Lyricism Still Matters In Hip-Hop ‘For The Record’ (Video)

Does lyricism still matter? In a word, YES! Whether you believe it is ‘necessary’ for a joint to be called ‘real Hip-Hop’ to have it… that discussion being a thing, even today, lets you know that lyricism is still a thing.

Although Yonkers MC Styles P and Harlem rapper Dave East represent two different generations of Hip-Hop, each artist is known for his lyrical prowess. The duo recently teamed up for their joint project ‘Beloved,’ which densely packs vivid street tales throughout its 13 tracks. On the latest episode of ‘For The Record,’ the New York natives sat down with Genius’ Head of Artist Relations Rob Markman to discuss the collaborative album as well as the decline of lyricism in Hip-Hop.

So, in this video we hear from the man standing next to the man (RIP comedian Robin Harris) on the single “LOVE.” off Kendrick Lamar’s album ‘DAMN.’

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ was one of the most acclaimed album releases of 2017, with all 14 tracks hitting Billboard’s Hot 100. Why Drake And The-Dream “Shut It Down” As A Team After 2010 (Video)

Ha! Read that title and in for the dramaaaaa, huh? Nope. No real drama. Just grown men. Artists who collab’d for a killer cut; whose time was up. Each ‘reaching out’ in their own ways, their ways just didn’t jibe. And thus, no follow-up collaboration. It happens. Dr. Dre and Rakim, R. Kelly and Jay Z… things run their course; some courses shorter than others.

In 2010, The-Dream collaborated with Drake on “Shut It Down” from his album ‘Thank Me Later.’ In this excerpt of the first installment of Genius Level, Terius “The-Dream” Nash explains why the two haven’t worked together since.

Joey Bada$$ Breaks Down “Land Of The Free” (Video)

What’s really cool about these videos where artists break their lyrics down… we get to learn not only about their throught processes with the lyrics, but about their thought lyrics as a person. For this Joey Bada$$ break down for his “Land Of The Free” jawn, even more so. DOPE!

Joey Bada$$’s politically charged track “Land Of The Free” was released on his birthday—and the day of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. It’s a single from his forthcoming album AABA but serves as his personal statement on the current state of America and his ambition to create change for the future.

Young M.A Breaks Down “OOOUUU” (Video)

Okay, I’m not the first to admit. But I wasted several clips – at several minutes each – that tried explaining what the hell Desiigner was saying on “Panda” (Panda… Panda Panda PandaPanda ggtthhrrrtaak!!). It almost made me not want to look at another lyric breakdown video again. Nut for Young M.A, oh hell yeah. She has EARNED the time I give in study of her work. I’m a fan. And her expo of the “OOOUUU” flow makes me even more so. Check it out.

Rap artist J-Zone, who just so happens to also write for Egotripland.com, unearthed some rare footage of the Wu-Tang Clan in their early stages for an interview on a cable access television program. This reminds me that I really need to digitize all the classic interviews I’ve had with artists from my time doing my ‘Strictly Hip Hop’ video show on cable access from around the same period of ’90-’95.
