Captain America: The First Avenger – Shield Fight Scene (Movie Clip)

It’s been a pretty good summer so far with the action adventure & superhero flicks that have come out. I’m hoping Marvel’s Captain America:The First Avenger is pretty good when its released in theaters next week. Check out one of the fight scene clips from the film that just hit the web….

Captain America (Movie Trailer)

Marvel continues their summer onslaught of superhero flicks. X-Men:First class was really good & I gave it an A+, but I felt that the Thor film let me down.  I gave Thor a C+ grade. Captain America is next in line this summer as it hits theaters July 22nd & if the movie is as good as this trailer appears then I expect that I’ll be grading Captain America with high grades as well. Excelsior!!

KRS-ONE Reviews ‘Bad Teacher’ (Video)

How smart is it for the the director of this segment to get ‘The Teacha’, KRS-ONE, to review the new film Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz?! Genius for that alone. Check out the video to see what KRS-ONE had to say about the new comedy that’s in theaters this weekend.

Moneyball (Trailer)

While I was sitting in the theater over the weekend waiting for Green Lantern to begin, the preview for the upcoming film ‘Moneyball’ came on. Due in theaters September 23rd, the film revolves around the struggling Oakland A’s Major league baseball franchise & one man’s attempt to change the franchise’s fortunes around. After watching the trailer I was excited to see this film starring Brad Pitt as it’s based on a true story story & book written by Michael Lewis.

Beats, Rhymes, & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest (Trailer)

This is finally the official trailer of the one of the most anticipated documentaries in music due to drop this summer! Directed by Michael Rapaport with a total running time of 1 hour & 37 minutes, the film is slated to be released in theatres July 8th

Warrior (Official Movie Trailer)

Set in the tough as nails city of Philadelphia, this upcoming film ‘Warrior’ due in theaters this September looks like the Mixed Martial Arts version of the classic 1976 ‘Rocky’ flick starring Sylvester Stallone. Back then Sylvester Stallone was a little known actor & it became a classic & iconic film that defined a city & Sly Stallone’s career. Will ‘Warrior’ be a classic in this MMA era? I surely doubt that but its obvious that the growing appeal of MMA has Hollywood taking notice. If history should repeat itself then films that focused on the ‘sweet science’ of Boxing will continue, but they may be less focused on two fisted pugilists in favor of the MMA’s newfound popularity. This is only the beginning…

Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon (Official Trailer)

This looks like it will be pretty good! Opening day is right around the corner & I’ll be there watching on the IMAX. I hope this joint is better than the last Transformers film…..the last one was Basura!

X-Men: First Class Starts June 3rd (Trailer)

Immortals (2011 Movie Trailer)

I guess I didn’t see this one coming under the deluge of films slated to be released this Summer 2011. This upcoming ‘Immortals’ film is due for a November 2011 release. The makers of the popular ‘300’ movie turn to Greek mythology to see if Zeus will allow lightning to strike twice. I noticed they casted that sexy chick Freida Pinto from the Slumdog Millionaire movie in this film too. Overall I’m not sure about this one, but even ‘300’ was slept on at first until people went to the theaters to see it was good. We’ll see how the Greek Gods favor on this one……..

‘Source Code’: A Mindbender That’s Easy To Follow by Nikki Liverpool (Film Review)

Source Code: A Mindbender That’s Easy To Follow by Nikki Liverpool (A Chick Who Digs Flicks)

It was great to watch a film that immediately puts you right into the action. No set up, no
back story, played more like you walked into the middle of a conversation, yet you
donʼt feel like you need to be caught up. Source Code, Jake Gyllenhaalʼs latest in the
time-space continuum trend, introduces us to Colter Stevens, a helicopter pilot in the
Afghanistan conflict. Heʼs on a Chicago commuter train in the middle of a conversation
with an attractive woman, Christina, played by Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone)
but he needs to be caught up. You get the feeling that this is going to be a sci-fi
Groundhog Day because certain things start to happen and Stevens reacts as though
he were expecting these minor occurrences.

What Stevens learns is that heʼs there to find out who planted on bomb on this train, as
a precursor to an even bigger explosion in the heart of Chicago. This we find out as he
is transported to some sort of apocalyptic pod with only a screen to communicate with
Vera Farmiga (The Departed), a Department of Defense official whoʼs there to gather
information. Who is on the train in the last eight minutes before of the explosion: what it
the comedian? The nervous, middle eastern looking man, who runs into the bathroom,
where Stevens finds the bomb in the ceiling vent? Is it Christina, who almost purrs
when she talks to him? What happened before? As he jumps back and forth,
Gyllenhaal makes the most of the eight minutes every time he goes back, gaining more
information, accusing the wrong person, beating them up, etc. At the end of each
transportation, the commuter train explodes.

Jeffrey Wright (Shaft) plays the head of the DOD source code program, who at first
youʼre not sure if heʼs a villain (he does walk around with a crutch, after all, a la Samuel
Jackson
in Unbreakable), but is merely a scientist that wants the program to be a
success to prevent any future terrorist attacks. If it means Stevens doesnʼt die as
promised when he finds out who planted the bomb, then itʼs a small price to pay for
saving millions of lives. The promise to die has to do with how Stevensʼs brain is used
to transport back and forth.

Source Code was directed by Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie, who is obviously a
fan of the sci-fi genre. He doesnʼt play for laughs much; he takes his subject matter
very seriously and directs with a confident hand. Itʼs no Inception, but thatʼs a
compliment because youʼre not trying to remember what happened when youʼre trying
to figure out whatʼs happening.

Transformers 3: Darkside Of The Moon Movie Trailer

Hoping this movie is 3 times better than Transformers 2 was. First thing the creators should do is remove the ‘gold toothed coonbots’ that appeared in the last film.
