I’m not too familiar with the NYC songstress Yobi, but this joint right here sounds pretty dope. She’s rocking over a flip of Nas’s classic Represent track produced by DJ Premier. Plus you can’t go wrong when you have Jadakiss & Styles P to spit a few verses for you. Sounds like it’s time for me to put together a new R&B/Hip Hop mix together with some of the good stuff we’ve been finding recently. It’s coming, but no official date has been ‘Set In Stone’ with me yet….

Nikki Jean has been dropping gems here & there over the last few years that really caught my attention enough to keep checking for her. Her new album ‘Pennies In A Jar’ just dropped on Tuesday the 12th. One of the key songs from her album is this joint right here called ‘Million Star Hotel’ featuring Lupe & The Roots frontman Black Thought. Don’t get it twisted though. Her album isn’t a R&B/Hip Hop album with a multitude of guest appearances, but guest appearances from quality conscious artists like Lupe & Black Thought make sense for Nikki Jean whose sound ranges from classic Motown, classic pop, & on back to Philly soul. Check out the track & preview the album from itunes.

The interview can be heard this Saturday, July 16 (approx 12noon) on www.DaFlavaRadio.com during the Sunsplash Mix Show (weekly 10:00am to 1:00pm) a good music radio show for Reggae, Dancehall and Interviews.
Below is the promotional mix for the Root Of Life Tour by Jah Prince for the Ghetto Youths International. This is the dancehall selections that were mixed by Jah Prince and physical cds passed out to the patrons of the now 6-year monthly club party in Atlanta called ‘Face Off‘. The hip hop selections that compliment this were mixed by DJ Rasta Root.

Back in the day on MTV Jon Stewart had an hour long talk show in the 90s similar to the David Lettermans, Jay Lenos, etc but the show didn’t last very long. Although Jon Stewart’s show didn’t last long on MTV, he’s doing very well in 2011 with The Daily Show. In this rare footage from Biggie’s performance on the show he performs the So So Def Remix to “Big Poppa” along with Lil Cease & Puffy backed by a live back. I love it when vintage clips like these surface.
