Personally I’ve always been one to break new music. Been doing it for years & years on the radio because it was necessary & its also where I find my solace amongst the wack musical landscape. I never had interest in joining some outlets if I didn’t have some freedom to discover & put people onto new things. I needed a voice. Although I have been in radio for quite some time I’ve also been writing for blogs & some websites for a few years. I also used to work at two major media outlets as well but just never put my name out there like that. I started this blog because I want to promote the music & interests I enjoy & for anyone else who can relate. It also serves as a supplement to my radio show as well. I see alot of people in the industry complaining about there are too many new DJs & some bloggers complaining about there are too many new blogs. Personally I feel like no one cares & they shouldn’t care about that either. The only thing a DJ, Blogger, Artists, or anyone else should care about is if you enjoy what YOU ARE doing. If you enjoy doing something it will most definitely show in your work. People who don’t do it because they genuinely love it will be rudely awakened. Doing ANYTHING for a check will leave you feeling empty & unfulfilled.

One of my friends sent me this video & I laughed out loud after watching it. Seems like some Brazil men are being admitted into hospitals all over the country for massive ‘bunda to head’ trauma! It’s actually pronounced ‘Surra De Bunda’ which means ‘Butt Slap’ in Portuguese. No need to worry because It’s just like good music…when it hits you there is no pain. Haha! (Sigh) I miss Brasil.

Alot of people were wondering why Phife only attended the Sundance screening in Utah & assumed that most of the brothas didn’t support the film. Ali Shaheed had been on a European tour & couldn’t make Sundance. Seems like before members of the media started making assumptions they should have probably reached out to them individually. Assuming that members of the press had tried at all. I’m still looking forward to seeing the film. A Tribe Called Quest is one of my favorite hip hop groups of all time & I’m also proud to enjoy a friendship with Phife, Jarobi, & Ali Shaheed.

Every week or two I’m gonna do what I call ‘Take Em To The Cleaners’. It’s gonna be a post of clean music for all my folks doing radio or events that require clean versions of songs. As a radio DJ I spend large amounts of time editing music myself or seeking out clean music to play on my radio show. I don’t plan on editing every song from every artist but just the ones I genuinely like or I’ll post ones that are sent to me that are good & cleaned already. Even though I’m cleaning some of these songs myself I still encourage you to always give the songs a good once over in case I missed anything. Some words I may leave in depending on the context of the song or subject matter, but generally I adhere to the 7 deadly sins of radio & television standard as set by the FCC. I’m committed to breaking great music & artists so the thought is to share what I have for all of you that need the same thing. So let’s break & expose some great music to our audiences fam!
