BamaLoveSoul gave much love and propers to Alaska-based producer, Duncan Gerow, for his latest Erykah Badu / Hi-Tek blend. We give respect to BamaLoveSoul for sharing the wealth and bringing this jewel of a joint to our attention. FREE download below!
Gerow skillfully places Badu’s vocals over one of my favorite Hi-Tek produced beats. It quickly reminded me that Erykah actually did do an official remix to Reflection Eternal‘s lead single “The Blast†but I always felt like I got robbed a little bit cause all she was relegated to were hook duties. So to hear this blend gives my imagination free license to wander/wonder a bit as to what she could have done on this track with a little more leash and leg room.

Nice Black Western coming up! “They Die By Dawn” stars Erykah Badu, Michael K. Williams, Rosario Dawson, Giancarlo Esposito and Isaiah Washington. Jeymes Samuel directs what is sure to be a good look for the massive movie ticket and popcorn taxes they hit you with at theaters. Not cheap… just saying… spending hard-earned money sucks more when the movie sucks. Doesn’t look like that’ll be a problem with this flick. Look at Erykah Badu flex with the shottie. Nice!

Robert Glasper is set to release his “Black Radio” album that I’m very much looking forward to this February 28th. The album will be an infusion of Blues, Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, & a variety of other ingredients that should musically define what “Black Radio” should be. A few of the songs that leaked early featuring Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild, Chrisette Michele, & R&B trio King let’s me know that this is shaping up to be a very good project. RE:GENERATION is a documentary film that follows DJ Premier, Pretty Lights, The Crystal Method, Mark Ronson, and Skrillex as they remix, recreate and re-imagine five traditional styles of music. Gods’illa- “Sal’s Pizzeria” (Video)

This is the new video from DMV representatives Gods’illa, from their CPR Blendtape hosted by Erykah Badu. “Sal’s Pizzeria” is a tribute to the classic Spike Lee joint “Do the Right Thing”. The CPR Blendtape was most definitely one of the best releases of 2011, which displayed these brotha’s abilities to spit content and substance over a variety of styles while maintaining a quality sound. I had the pleasure of meeting Gods’illa in 2010, and like I said then, these cats are going to do damage in the game for a long time, so get used to the name.Enjoy!
