Teachers Give Students ‘Slavery’ Math Problems For Homework (Video)

Parents are outraged as Metro Atlanta’s Gwinnett County third graders were being assigned homework with math problems that included questions such as: “Each tree has 56 oranges. If eight slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?” and “If Frederick got two beatings each day, how many beatings did he get in one week?”. The questions created by teachers of Beaver Ridge Elementary, was said to be intended to cross curriculum social studies with math…….Really, what part of the game is that?????

I’m happy to see my former teammate doing well working for the NFL these days. Although he’s a few years older than me, former Philadelphia Eagle cornerback Troy Vincent & I were teammates in high school. Although my dreams of playing in the NFL were cut short in college, I’ve always routed for Troy because he was one of us who made it to the big leagues. One of the key reasons why Troy had such a great career in the NFL & continues to do so in a management capacity is because he’s very organized. That’s where we differ because if you looked at my desk in my home office is NOWHERE near as neat. I’m straight up living the life of a world traveling bachelor with smaller pocket change, but he’s traveling the world successful & settled down into family life. Good job Troy! I bet you he owns some stock in Zip Fizz too. Clever choice to include it in the interview if that’s the case. Troy’s inspiring me to be more organized….(looks around at my office) Ahhh well…maybe not. Hahaa!

Cassidy – “You So Phony”

I remember seeing Cassidy mention on twitter about how people that he used to be cool with in the music industry are no longer returning his calls. Soon after those tweets he leaked this track called “You So Phony” going in on many fake cats in the music industry. Cassidy hasn’t lost a step in terms of pure talent & I never get tired hearing Cass rap with the crazy metaphors & punchlines, but in this new era people care less about how ill you are on the mic as compared to if you’re if your THAT dude with the hit song on the radio who’s on top regardless of skill. It’s obvious that Cassidy wants that focus & attention back on him within the industry, but I get the feeling that he needs to move quicker & smarter on the business end for that return. Real hip hop heads like me will always enjoy his talent for what it is outside of the Hollywood element of the music game, but trying to hold onto mainstream fans in this fickle industry is another story altogether. Supposedly this song is one of the tracks that will be featured on Cassidy’s upcoming mixtape “Apply Pressure III”…

There truly is a blatant difference when Jaycee puts these joints together as compared to your average dj who just got serato & a laptop full of music. There aren’t too many artists today that can remake a classic, put there own stamp on it, & it still comes out sounding just as good if not better than the original. One of my favorite soul singers from my hometown of Philly, Jill Scott, proves with this remake of Bill Withers’ 70’s classic why she’s one of the best of our generation. Speaking of generations, this video featuring the next generation of youngsters coming up in the world was released by Jill’s former label Hidden Beach as a part of the “Have A Lovely Day” campaign encouraging random acts of kindness and volunteerism.
