This is one of my favorite joints from the late Children of the Corn and D.I.T.C emcee Big L, “Put it On” produced by the ever hype Deejay Kid Capri.It is a bit disheartening that his murder still remains unsolved , as he was destined for mega success as rumors of a Rock-A-Fella signing loomed. In my opinion had Big L singed with “The Roc” Jay Z might not have been what he is now, with L at the time being the more polished and lyrically gifted emcee(check any of the old freestyle with the 2, Jigga is fighting to keep up with Big L most of the time). With all passings of our legends lets focus more on uplifting and appreciating our greats while they are still alive…..

Last Saturday night I interviewed Atlanta emcee Tez McClain on the show & one of the new female singer/songwriters based in Atlanta that we talked about was Nikkiya who also lent vocals to his latest “Wishful Thinking II” mixtape hosted by Don Cannon. I told Tez that night on air that I’ve been seeing her name come up a lot lately on a variety of projects & sure enough here on Valentines Day she drops a new video shot from some high rise here in Atlanta.  Apparently this is the first single to her “SpeakHer Overload” project dropping March 20th. Seems like she’s getting a ‘Hold On’ more people like me checking for her work….

I found this video to be pretty interesting from a scientific aspect as nightclubs are being being used as research labs. Topics covered in the video refer to how music can affect bar sales and people’s ability to multitask, how it determines listening patterns, and how the stock market can affect mood, which in turn predicts the characteristics of popular music. The above lecture quite frankly breaks down social nightclub behaviour with a particular emphasis on music and how it affects people at an implicit level. Spotted at 2DBZ
