The Hip Hop world is still mourning the passing of Sean Price. His music will live on forever and the lives of the people he touched as well. With that said he still leaves behind a wife and children and if you reside in Atlanta you have the chance to attend a cool event and help his family out as well. DJ Kerosene of The Coalition DJ’s has teamed up with Louisville Sluggah of OGC/Boot Camp Click to organize this tribute going down Wednesday August 19th at the Sound Table (485 Edgewood Ave SE Atlanta, GA). It will be hosted by Fort Knox & Louisville Sluggah $5 entry from 9pm-2am with proceeds going directly to Sean Price family. There will be original art of Sean Price on display along with Jeremy Avalon, DJ Dug Boogie, & Jaycee on the tables so this is official. Not to mention Kerosene will do a special Sean P tribute mix as well.

Music Festivals are in full swing this Summer all across the country. Â One of the best Music Festivals that begins in the Fall is the A3C Festival which takes place right here where we reside in Atlanta, GA! Â People ask how A3C has grown so big with it only being ten years in existence? I would say one of the reasons is A3C does a good job of working with people in the Atlanta scene not just rappers but media & sites ( like Jayforce.com) but also visual artists. Â The Atlanta Art scene is close knit and buzzing so I was excited when I saw that FRKO & Sean Fahie were helping to spread the word about A3C. Â Watch as they go around the city with one of the founders of A3C creating original artwork on posters from Old 4th Ward to East Atlanta. Piph is also a positive force in Hip-Hop worldwide; even teaching about the art/culture on a United Nations trip a while back. That’s right, and that ain’t all. To me… What is really so dope though… To this day my brother answers when I call, does what he can (for whoever he can), and is a straight up and down good person… who just happens to be one fly azz emcee! I have borne witness to that since back when he appeared on a talk show I produced years ago.

Do you remember that post we did about the dream Golden Era super-group The Alumni (here)… back in 2012??? Nothing coming of it really has been a source of lamentation for us. Thought maybe we saw Monie Love and her folks ride off in the sunset, huh? NOT! Came across some pure uncut DOPENESSS (with 3 sss) the other day from Monie Love and her super-group Heresy (comprised of lady emcees Monie Love, Dominique LaRue, Carolina Dirty and MyVerse). “Da Call Out” hits soooo hard with its social commentary! Too much degradation of our sisters – of us all – especially in Hip-Hop. Heresy calls out the perpetrators (hardest line ever: when Monie comes in with F#CK WORLDSTARR… deeeeeeem) and stands ready for whoever wanna say whatever about it! These ladies are first in my opinion (yep, that just happened).
Ready for the icing on this cake? Mister Lawnge of Black Sheep did the beat! I am overdosing on this dopenesss!

Shade Balls: Los Angeles Is Fighting The Drought… With Science (Video)

How about that? Engineering (e.g. applied science) solves another real life problem. The world is better when more and more smart people are around to think about and fix problems. Los Angeles (California, USA) has been in the grips of a deadly drought. And in the rest of The States, we have looked on helplessly. But I think they are onto something here.
This is a good case of ‘black-balling’… deters water loss from evaporation, development of algae, wildlife contamination… PLUS, I cannot stop watching the cool clip of a big batch of shade balls being dumped into the LA Reservoir.
