R&B/Soul: Joy Denalane feat. Bilal – “Should Have Never” (Jake One Remix)

I’ve been up on Germany’s Joy Denalane for a few years now, but new songs from her don’t pop up that often from the multilingual soul singer since the 2006 release of her “Born & Raised” project. It was her standout track “Change” featuring Lupe Fiasco that really caught my attention coincidentally after I had returned back to Atlanta from a trip visiting with friends in Germany.  Her solo appearances & collaborations are still rare releases but she still pops up every now & then on joints with fellow R&B artists like Dwele & Bilal as well as popping up on a few rap artists & producer based projects like on Virginia’s NOTTZ song “How Long Will It Last” from his “You Need This Music” album two years ago.   So with her relative absence in releasing any new material for a few years it was surprise to see OKP premier this new remix from Seattle based producer Jake One.  Joy Denalane is set to drop a brand new project on April 3rd entitled “Maureen” which apparently has a much deeper significance other than it just being her middle name. It’s makes even more sense considering the early reports that the album has a dark bluesy & soulful edge to it that is quite difficult to fully categorize.  Looking forward to some more goodness with this….We’ve waited long enough

Skyzoo On TheNewContent (Video)

TNC – JAYFORCE with SKYZOO (exclusive)Skyzoo stops by Atlanta’s premier hip hop radio show, Beatz & Lyrics Show with Jayforce, & chops it up about his early career, being influenced by Biggie who lived on his block growing up, the new album “A Dream Deferred” due in September, & not over compromising his style, sound, or image just to further his career. As always the TheNewContent was there to document what went down in the studio…..

R&B: Ameriie – “Every Time” (Prod. By Focus…)

Our homie & part-time radio show co-host, Focus…, played us a gang of bangers in his studio that he produced for cats but I can’t remember if this newly released Amerie Ameriie joint was one of them. I also noticed that his signature “producer tag” is different so it’s possible this is a much older unreleased track that may have been recorded a while ago. It wouldn’t matter either way because damn near everything Focus… touches works because he can go in a variety of directions or audio “textures” as he would say. Not sure what’s up with the slight name change with an additional “i” in her name from the beautiful blasian songstress, but as long as her next mini-LP “The Prelude” sounds as good as this joint does who cares.

AZ – “My N*ngaz” (Prod. Buckwild)

AZ links up with D.I.T.C producer Buckwild for this new joint that’s supposed to appear on Mr. Anthony Cruz’s upcoming album “Doe Or Doe II” he’s set to drop this year. I have my fingers crossed that after Nas drops his “Life Is Good” album & AZ let’s this Doe Or Die II  project go that they’ll get in the studio with some great producers & knock out a collaborative album. Some wishful thinking that I pray comes to fruition….

Vintage Tux – “Draggin” (Video)

The 5 man crew Vintage Tux drops more dopeness with their latest joint “Draggin”,will be released on the upcoming album Crock Pot Muzik, which still has no official drop date. They are definitely one of the groups I will be checking for this year as they continue to drop quality songs straight out of Tallahassee, FL which isn’t known for pure hip hop but acts like T-Pain. Groups like ‘VT’ proves that quality hip hop exists everywhere, you may just have to dig for it….
