Alternative/Soul: Willow Smith – “9” feat. SZA
Well, well. Willow isn’t whipping her hair on this one. This is grown folks music. Quietly steering for calmer musical depths, Willow has SZA joining her on a… dare we say… much more sensual-sounding track. Definitely more grown up. Worth a listen. This is “9.” Get Will & Jada Smith’s baby girl’s current EP entitled “III.”
Georgia Anne Muldrow – “CIAO”
On SomeOthaShip… You can get this Georgia Anne Muldrow single – “CIAO” – and the whole album “oLIGARCHY sUCKS!” We linked ’em for you. But wait though. You can stream the “CIAO” single right here (below) to see if you feel what you hear. Good laid back alternative to the run-of-the-mill.
James Brown – “I Feel Good” (El. Train Remix)
Do you know your James Brown music when you hear it? Okay, well hold on. Throw that sound you have stored in your music memory bank for “I Feel Good,” but go find your dancing shoes. Alright, dancing shoes aren’t mandatory; but give this very different-sounding take on this Mr. Dynamite hit (submitted by hip Brit El. Train) a listen.
So my dad (Mr. I Know Everything About Music) said I should be playing a 10 minute James Brown track as an intro to all my sets. This one’s not quite 10 minutes but it is the legend himself or my interpretation of him…

Saigon – “Mama Thinks I’m Crazy” (Video)
She know I sell smoke, but she don’t know I’m moving a ton.
Another one off that “GSNT 3: The Troubled Times Of Brian Carenard†(out now, linked to earlier post below) by Saigon. Here’s the video for “Mama Thinks I’m Crazy.”
R&B/Alternative: Coultrain – “Kiss Of Deathâ€
Off the “Side Effex Of Make-Believe; divided for love’s sake” EP from Coultrain, this is “Kiss Of Death.” Don’t sleep. It’s a bit of an unusual take on R&B, but give it a good listen. Words by Aaron M. Frison. Music composed by Stoney Rock. Backing vocals by Dharma Jean. With a title like “Kiss Of Death,” of course the St. Louis crooner is singing pain – about a woman.
Raiders Of The Lost Art (Part 1) [Documentary]
I’m gonna keep boom-bappin’ it…
– DJ Premier
Damn right. Preemo spends every day in the studio. Royce da 5’9 getting it in in the gym [nearly] every day to keep his body, mind and rhymes tight. Grown men do grown things. Grown men in Hip-Hop… might just save this thing. Pay attention to part 1 of this docu-series narrated by Bun B (of UGK) about the lives of the duo behind PRhyme and their giving life to their self-titled project giving new life to old school Hip-Hop style!

The Cobbler (Trailer)
“It’s a privilege to walk in someone else’s shoes. But it’s also a responsibility.”
Adam Sandler. Dustin Hoffman. Steve Buscemi… and Method Man. At the very least, this should be interesting.
(On the other hand, what is it with Sandler and gadgets in movies? Didn’t he already do “Click” with the ‘remote control of life’ thing?)
But yeah, besides the interesting cast. Discovering you could become anyone whose shoes you stepped into – as “The Cobbler” – whose shoes would you choose? Watch Sandler’s character’s choices (and lessons). Trailer promises a thought provoking, touching film.
Ludacris – “Nutmeg Freestyle†(Word To Ghostface) [Video]
Tell you what. Not much better could anyone else have done that “Nutmeg Freestyle” submitted to Soundcloud (posted earlier here) by Ludacris. But what’s better… there’s a video for that thing. Check it! They call this one “Ludaverses Vol. 2” (hit the jump to see Vol. 1).

Big Daddy Kane Talking About “Sex” With Madonna (Video)
Very cool: Madonna knew who Big Daddy Kane was back in the day; and was trying to school her fans on how great he was. Now, before you say Ms. “Like A Virgin” was on BDK’s jock… take a look-see at the pics from Madonna’s “Sex” book. She kinda let the K-A-N-E on her … um … ‘jock’ (wowww)!
Big Daddy Kane shares the story about how he met Madonna, and later posed for a racy spread with her and Naomi Campbell in the pop star’s “Sex” book.

Tony Hawk Hoverboard (Video)
Alright, the last viral hoverboard video was a hoax, and Tony Hawk was in on it. But this ish right here… apparently the real deal. Arx Pax has invented the world’s first hoverboard (called the “Hendoâ€). Four hover engines on the bottom of the Hendo Hoverboard help produce a magnetic field over a conductive surface like aluminum or copper, causing the futuristic machine to hover an inch above ground. Top speed: 15 mph (according to TMZ).
Nas Spits “The World Is Yours” A Capella For VICE Japan (Video)
I believe this was a very slick way to get a Nas a capella for producers to rip from this video & do a remix to it. I see what VICE in Japan is doing.
In celebration of Nas’ 20th Anniversary of his debut album “Illmatic,” we got to hang out with him and record his a capella version of “The World is Yours†using our Music Video Recorders from Sony.
Lord Jamar Agrees With A$AP Yams: “2014 Could BeThe Worst Ever” (Video)
Whew, ! Well, A$AP Yams said it. And Lord Jamar pretty much seconded it. He kinda made some points. Ask yourself… Did 2014 mark the release of any instant classics in Hip-Hop? Name ’em. Now, how many trash LPs can you name? Wow. You might not want to speak on it (too painful for Hip-Hop heads); but Lord Jamar (of Brand Nubian fame) will. Don’t worry. Watch.
But there is hope for the future… I’m trying to do my part…
