Never been the most crazy lyrical cat in the game, but he definitely has an ear for beats & new young hungry producers like Mark Henry who produced this “So Fly” joint from his The Darkside II Mixtape that’s out now. It’s as clear as day that Fat Joe simply continues to make good records over the years. Not mad at all with this new video either….
Somali Pirate Movie: “Fishing Without Nets” (Video)

Check out this trailer to the short film that’s currently being screened at the Sundance Film Festival based on the lives of the pirates of Somalia. “Fishing Without Nets” has just won the Jury Prize in Short Filmmaking at the Sundance Film Festival & the timing of the film’s win couldn’t be any more coincindental with the recent news coming out of Washington. The U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six, that killed Osama Bin Laden, just successfully completed a successful rescue mission of a kidnapped American under the orders of President Barack Obama. The timing of this film directed by 25-year-old Cutter Hodierne couldn’t be better as the movie, unlike major news outlets reporting of these events, is coming based on the perspective of the Somali pirates themselves. From a production standpoint the director only wanted to shoot in East Africa for 3 weeks with his team, but their stint there grew into 5 months in which their own lives were at risk among other hardships.

I thought this is a pretty cool song from Grammy nominated artist Karina Pasian. The former Def Jam artist just put out a good R&B/Soul EP called “Trips To Venus Vol. I” last December, but this song doesn’t appear on it at all. The beauty of this particular song from the Dominican R&B singer & pianist is the simplicity & the production work from “Needlz” on this joint right here. It’s a crazy daydreamer’s type of song, but I genuinely dig this joint. You may call it “Lazy”, but “It’s Whatever”…..

Earlier this evening, Atlanta emcee Tez McClain had his official listening party for the Wishful Thinking Vol. 2 mixtape hosted by Don Cannon at Diddy’s famed Justin’s restaurant here in Atlanta. Great turnout & many familiar faces from the Atlanta music scene were in the place as Tez walked the crowd through various tracks on the mixtape & his thought process going into each joint. Probably my favorite joint I heard played was called “2 Minutes Of Game” which Tez, at one point, stopped the music & spit it acapella for the crowd at Justin’s. Tez McClain’s “Wishful Thinking Vol. II” mixtape is scheduled to drop tomorrow January 24th.
