Closed Sessions: ATX is a 10-song project featuring the Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, Kidz In The Hall, Rakaa and Babu of Dilated Peoples, and lots of other artists. Closed Sessions and RubyHornet.com set up a studio in a Texas Mansion and artists from all over the country came through to collab on new music and share stories. The people over at Terez Owens caught up with Lebron James’s former teammate Delonte West & asked him the question that everyone had wanted to know from his own mouth. After all the rumors spread of Delonte West having a sexual relationship with Lebron James’ mother Gloria James, a random fan approaches him with a camera with the million dollar question & Delonte denies it. Personally I think he’s lying by his mannerisms & body movement. 80% of all communication is non-verbal & he doesn’t appear to be that forthcoming when pressed. I guess what else is he gonna say when a camera is pushed in his face.

This is the rebroadcast/podcast of the show that aired on Saturday 6/18/11 complete with nothing but non stop quality hip hop music! This episode is not only full of new & exclusive music designed for mixtape style radio warfare, but we had a few special guests stop by the studio! In the first segment of the show we were joined by Harlem based rap artist Donny Goines who ran a few tracks & talked about his upcoming projects & career. In the second segment of the show we were joined by Atlanta by way of Memphis emcee Eddie Meeks blessed us with a few new bangers & discussed his return to making quality music.
The third & final segment of the show was reserved for the “Queens” as we had Tampa Bay via Queens NY emcee Dynasty grace our studios to talk about working with DJ Premier, the Tampa Bay area rap scene, women in hip hop, & plans for her future projects. Kanye West Gets Intimate With The Essence Music Festival Crowd (Video)

It seems like damn near all of Atlanta went to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. A number of people I saw on twitter talked about Kanye West’s performance. Some people were dissing it, but after I watched this video it was clear to me that Kanye was just amongst family. If you’re touring all over the world you can’t get intimate with fans like this who don’t really know you. I guess that’s why Kanye also explained why he also doesn’t talk to the press anymore. Can’t knock the brother for trying to do something different by playing with the crowd who knows good black music & probably knows him best. Plus the Essence Music Festival organizers probably couldn’t afford Kanye’s million dollar performance fees & he may have wanted to participate in some capacity for his core audience.

Scarface Still In Jail, Owes Owes Over $123,000 In Child Support

Scarface has been incarcerated since October 2010 for failure to pay child support & reportedly owes over $123,000. According to XXL magazine, the hip hop legend has spent his Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, & will now spend his July 4th weekend in the Harris County Jail in Texas for four separate child support cases.
According to police documents obtained by XXLmag.com, bonds have been set on all four cases—one for $93,376, a second one for $50,000, another for $30,000 and the last one was set at $500.
As of this time it is unclear how much longer the former Geto Boys frontman is expected to spend behind bars, but a media relations rep for Harris County’s 7th precinct states that ‘Face will be held until these women accusing him of not paying child support are compensated to some capacity.

This is a pretty ‘dope’ project that sort just dropped out of nowhere under the supervision of producer NO I.D. The collective known as Cocaine 80s consists of an assortment of musicians, singers, producers, & songwriters such as NO I.D., Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba, & several other players that have yet to be fully confirmed as this time. We posted the only rap oriented track featuring Common called ‘Summer Madness’ on the site previously, but there are many other quality joints on this 7 song EP that stand out like two of my favorites ‘To Tell You The Truth’ & ‘Anywhere But Here’.  Dope project that it’s obvious that the creators are allowing the product to speak for itself & you’ll keep coming back like a good customer. It’s dope……but for the ears.
