Build Your Own Mini Boat (Video)

Toys for the water! This DIY boat is dope with extra awesome sauce boss! Wonder if they make a submarine kit, or maybe plan to. At the price point here, even the thriftiest enthusiast could end up with a fleet in a few short years.

These made to order $950 kits will allow you to build your very own mini boat at home.

American company Rapid Whale has created “Mini Boat,” a miniature boat measuring 6ft in length and around 50kg in weight. Mini Boat is powered by two 12-volt batteries, allowing the miniature rig to reach a top speed of 4 mph.

Technology: Whirlpool Turbines Designed To Provide Renewable Energy For Small Communities (Video)

We’ve seen this work on a large scale… Hoover Dam and others… where you wall up a huge reservoir of water and then let it go; the force of the waterfall spinning a turbine that generates electricity. It is all about turning potential into kinetic energy and harnessing the power.

So what if we could do that on a smaller scale? Oh wait, this is no longer a ‘what if’ thing. This is a ‘why not’ thing. And it is awesome!

Clean, renewable, no harm to inhabitants (including the fish), and only one moving part. Genius!

Can Prosthesis Give An Opponent Power? Yes! About 8,000 Pounds Of It (Video)

Prosthesis is an 8,000-pound, 15 foot tall, 18 foot wide, exoskeleton that is completely controlled by a human operator. It’s the world’s first racing “mech” (a class of tech that includes robots or machines controlled by people). Built by Furrion.

I mean. I know it’s tech. But it’s a BEAST, too!

Uno Bolt: The Electric Unicycle (Video)

This is cool commuter/recreation travel tech all by itself, but I am going to embed some “Spiral Zone” after the jump so that y’all might understand why this has me so geeked up!

This is the Uno Bolt, the first electric unicycle with built-in stabilizers. You can turn by leaning, accelerate by leaning forward and leaning back to slow down. The top speed is 22 mph, has a 25-mile range and fully charges in 45 minutes. An LED display shows distance, speed and battery percentage. It is equipped with an all-terrain tire and can climb hills up to 45 degrees. The lever can be used to reverse and break instantly. The LED lights can light up the night. A Kickstarter campaign is underway for Uno Bolt. One can be yours for $1,000. Now go explore, one wheel at a time.

Wait! Before You Take That Power Nap… (Video)

My brother (BoneBreaker Jones) and I speak on this from time to time. We’re both night owls trying to do us AND do our best to meet the daytime demands of ‘their’ world. Going hard, getting older wiser; we know we need rest and respect nap time. We can’t be #TeamNoSleep because that is just not healthy or even productive. But maybe we go about it wrong somehow. In the above clip, we (like me & you, bro can watch later after doing ‘their’ work) learn about the ‘power’ of naps… good and bad.

Let’s build that sleep pressure up while on the grind, then get only the good sleep.

Science: Have You Seen The First Interstellar Visitor To Our Solar System Yet? (Video)

My brother and I were just talking about this: Soooo, an INTERSTELLAR object in our real view now… scientific FACT… like a few months ago at most… and we are not gonna talk about it anywhere near as much as a science-FICTION about some long-ago-far-far-away ish???

Astronomers recently discovered a bizarre-looking object in our solar system that’s unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. It’s so peculiar that astronomers think it’s not even from our solar system. They’ve dubbed this mysterious interstellar asteroid “Oumuamua.” Following is a transcript of the video.

This asteroid is not from around here. Turns out, it came from another star system. This is the first time humanity has observed an interstellar object.

Science: Earth’s Longest Living Lifeforms (Video)

I was just telling someone the other day: I think it is a good thing that we cannot talk to animals and plants. Some species have been around way long, and live way longer, than us. They could tell us about ourselves. Really tell us about ourselves.

And living that long, that ‘reading’ on us could get ugly. Still… thinking about how long they (e.g. non-human lifeforms) live. Hella interesting!

Science: How Far Have Our Spacecraft Traveled So Far (Video)

New Year’s… on these occasions we usually look back and look forward at the same time. How about we do something like that here: As we boldly go into 2018, let’s take a look at how far we have boldly gone, into space as a human race, already.

2017 marks the 60th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, the first satellite to orbit Earth. In those 60 years, we’ve gone much further, reaching new planets and even the edge of the solar system. Watch as the human race explores the galaxy around us.

How Long Would It Take To Dig To The Center Of The Earth? (Video)

Know how when folks in The States would say something referencing ‘digging their way to China?’ Bet cash money this video blows their mind about how long (and improbable) a ‘trip’ like that would be.

If we were to journey to the center of the Earth, it would take a lot longer than you might expect. Here’s how deep humans have dug underground.

Advice: Stranded On An Island? Don’t Panic…

After a day of overstuffing my belly with a house full of loved ones, I just thought it interesting to come across this vid about maybe starving and dying alone. Macabre much? Hahahaaa!

Still full (burp) from Turkey Day though. Not starving for a loooong time homie 😉

Science: How Will We Evolve Over The Next 1,000 Years? (Video)

Interesting insights and predictions. Maybe we’ll be around to see if the ‘experts’ that put this clip together got it right. Maybe. Unfortunately, we are definitely doing our best to bring the Armageddon… choosing world leaders who are killing us or are gonna get us killed (or letting them stay in power)… eating and drinking poison (by choice, by ‘design’ or by inaction or incompetence of our leaders)…

Okay, okay. Staying positive. And THANKFUL!

Science/Technology: The Hydrogen-Powered Rasa Car Looks Good On Paper… And On The Road (Video)

Okay, let me beat you vroom-vroom car enthusiasts to the punch. Zero to 55mph in 9 seconds is certainly NOT blowing the doors off anything. But c’mon son, 300 miles on one tank AND no emissions at all… Slow ya roll and save the world… literally!

The Rasa car is powered entirely by hydrogen and looks straight out of a James Bond movie. It can reach 55 mph in 9 seconds.

Science/Advice: Lower Your Chances Of A Being Attacked By A Shark (Video)

YES! Finally, I get an expert to say what I have been telling folks ‘on the record’… if you want to avoid getting ‘shark bit’… don’t be in the damned water with them!

But some of y’all ocean-lovers, including my SCUBA-diving brother BoneBreaker Jones, just HAVE to do it. So, okay, watch this clip and learn how to minimize the risk of being victimized (e.g. being bit the f*ck out of) via shark attack.

The U.S. Military Budget Is $600 Billion. What If NASA Had That Kind Of Budget? (Video)

The military strength of the United States eclipses that of the armed forces of the next 20 nations or so ranked behind it… together! So, let’s say America’s lead is “comfortable” to say the least. What if we threw more of that military money at NASA instead of shrinking its budget? We might already be living on Mars or something.

Check this out.

Batteries Not Included: Cell Phone Powered By Light And Radio Waves (Video)

Alright. I will tell you from the start that this is NOT going to be anywhere near as badass as your super-duper-smartphone. But if you spend your time picking at what this cell phone cannot do, you will miss appreciating the glorious technological step forward it represents. The holy grail of power systems is developing a perpetual motion-driven energy source (does not exist), but a very acceptable step down from that is powering things with virtually limitless source energy (like solar). BUT… what if we took a half step down and eliminated the need for a power source altogether? THAT is where THIS is going!

Researchers at the University of Washington have created a cell phone that uses so little power, it never needs to charge and doesn’t have a battery. Instead, it pulls power from ambient light and radio waves.

Fear Not, Robots Cannot Take All Our Jobs (Video)

Alright, the professor starts boldly with ‘We have to embrace creative destruction’ in his pitch to have us understand how technological advancement is a good thing for humanity and industry. But then he inserts and asserts “…and yes there are definitely some jobs being replaced.” So which is it, Doc, are we celebrating tech gains or job losses? Actually, it’s a bit of both; but it will be alright. Watch.

Erik Brynjolfsson, the director of the MIT Center for Digital Business, explains how robots will enhance our future economy. They will not be taking our jobs but instead helping to create new ones.

You and boo should take a hot bath together after an early dinner. Don’t forget Jasmine (bonus if someone’s name is actually ‘Jasmine’) for the therapy. Then turn down for… BED! How To Find Water In The Desert (Video)

Fact about me: I like watching survival shows; though I am in no way claiming expertise at anything I watch. However, I am tucking this bit of ‘expertise’ in the back pocket of my mind… in the VERY unlikely event I find myself stranded in a desert, cut off, without water.

If you ever find yourself lost in the desert, knowing how to quickly find water is going to be key to for your survival. Here’s what you’re going to need to know.

Food/Science: That’s Not Blood Leaking From Your Steak (Video)

If that KRS-ONE line, “Red and bloody, a corpse neatly packed,” hasn’t stopped you from eating steak, this won’t. Hey, enjoy your steak famlam.

(If it has stopped you, can I have yours? I love a good steak!)

Raw steaks usually have a natural, blood-like liquid in their packaging. Although its red coloring looks a lot like blood, that liquid is not what it seems.
– Tech Insider

Aha! Thought this clip was gonna go ‘anti-artificial’ on you, right? Interesting video. A couple of things: Bloodlike liquid (wtf) and… those percentages don’t add up to 100 (hahaa, thanks to Youtube commenters/fact-checkers for catching that).
