Now let me start this post carefully… this interview with author Yolanda Zellous was about her new book ‘Big Boned Women’. I will try to invite her and the plus sized models she represents c/o Star Sized Studios for part two of the interview BUT let me just whistle the song, “i like big butts and I cannot lie….”. In the book the women share their personal life experiences to provide a clear illustrated message that will create a new reflection of confidence in big boned women. BB King had Lucille and Yamin Semali has his beloved instrument MIDIna. In celebrating their 10th year together, Yamin penned “Never Leave,” and they (he and MIDIna) created the music for it. Is it that serious? In a word…yes! Here’s a word from 1/2 of the group Clan Destined & the solo artist Yamin formerly known as Amdex himself:
“This is probably my favorite composition thus far.  It has no samples and it is a good example of how much one can do with a small idea.  I got my MPC in 2002, so on the 10th-year anniversary, I wanted to do something special for MIDIna, since she has been such a rider.  I couldn’t have made this track, and 1000s more, without her.  I am thankful to have her.”

Hailing from Gary, Indiana (the same small town that gave us Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5, and Janet Jackson), Island Def Jam’s newbie singer K’La puts in worthy work with Nas on “Blame.” A few short years ago, K’La moved to Atlanta to pursue a music career of her own. Waiting tables to pay for studio time, K’La eventually met Anthony “T.A.†Tate (CEO, Tate Music Line). After auditioning for him, K’La signed on with the label and released a mixtape, “Coldest Winter Ever” (free download available here), featuring the track “All Your Loveâ€, produced by Stephen Marley. R&B/Alternative: Teresajenee – “Electric Yellow”

Emerging indie sensation Teresajenee (a.k.a. the “musician beatmaker pen”) actually started making music in earnest in 2007. However, her life in music can be traced (read: predestined) from the crib! Born to music artist parents in St. Louis, Missouri, the Tennessee State University alum has featured on others’ projects, as well as her own, and on stages across the United States, since getting her start a few years ago. Her stated mission is to put out “music that is soulful, introspective, and refreshing,” and she has what it takes to do just that. Teresajenee’s upbringing in a music-rich family environment, her mastery of several instruments (piano, organ, clarinet, and drums), her vocal range, and her demonstrated determination to stay the course of a true artist (not compromising the music for the money) has set on a path to stardom…perhaps legendary status! Alternative: Little Dragon – “Sunshine”

On June 28, indie alternative electro-pop band Little Dragon released a new single, “Sunshine,” in conjunction with Absolut Vodka, for Absolut Remix (the company’s alcoholic punch drink). Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, veteran Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano is the lead vocalist for Little Dragon, which also features keyboardist Hakan Wirenstrand, bassist Fredrik Kallgren Wallin, and drummer Erik Bodin.
