Watch The Final “Aquaman” Teaser Before The Film Debuts December 21st In Theaters (Video)

DC is betting the movie franchise on its next installment, “Aquaman.” The protector of Atlantis, of the seas… will become the savior of the world (and continue the DC comeback in theaters; if it proves itself a successful follow-up to Wonder Woman and “Justice League”).

Fingers crossed.

FOX’s New Show, “The Passage” (Trailer)

Of course, this triggers me. I’m from Tuskegee, Alabama, where the government carried out the syphilis study (medical research). Sure, this is science fiction, right? No way this could happen in real life. Right. Folks this kind of stuff has happened over and over. My vision ain’t blurry. And that’s not even my third eye seeing… that’s just history… readily available for anyone to read. Just Google “Tuskegee Experiment.”

Bitterness aside, I am still watching this. Fox’s “Gifted” is a good series, and this has a similar feel.

Andre 3000 Coming Back To The Big Screen In A Sci-Fi Thriller Called “High Life” (Trailer)

Well. This looks… ominous.

Okay, so don’t try to figure out everything that is going on in this trailer. There is enough meat in what is plain to see: Andre 3000 is back on the big screen (November 7 in France, in 2019 in the U.S.) with a box office hitter like Robert Pattinson (dude from the “Twilight” movies), in a sci-fi thriller that includes a space trip to a black hole.

Yeah, we good. See you next year 3 Stacks.

This Animé “MFKZ” Has Some Of Everybody Doing Everything R-Rated In It (Trailer)

Rated R? That all?? Looks like it could be ‘stronger’ with the warning. Bloody violence, check! Foul language, check! And sexual content, aaaand check! Yep… checks all the boxes for some dope, slick, sick anime that fans like; just like they like it!!

The film [“MFKZ”] centers on young Angelino and his skull-and-flame pal Vinz, who live in a seedy tenement in an LA-inspired dystopian metropolis – a burnt-out, gang and cockroach-ridden neo-urban hell. Following a scooter accident, Angelino starts experiencing migraines and strange hallucinations, as well as fits of rage-inspired superpowers, as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins: he is half human and half Macho, a supernatural alien race that is bent on taking over the planet.
– Pitchfork

Check for this [very] limited engagement anime film in theaters October 11th and 16th.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” Hits Theaters Valentine’s Day 2019 (Trailer)

Surely comic book version purists were miffed at when the X-Men movie franchise messed with several storylines in the first trilogy (esp. in ‘The Last Stand’… Cain Marko aka Juggernaut is NOT a mutant). But this “Dark Phoenix” might, just might, try to steer in the direction of comic canon.

See, in ‘The Last Stand’ Jean Grey did all she could (with Professor X’s …um …help) to control the Dark Phoenix within. But we had no idea where the Phoenix came from. It was like Jean had a super-powered schizophrenic evil alter ego; one that was just there, that Xavier wouldn’t dare let Jean let out. Which likely left longtime ‘X-men’ readers yelling at the screen: HELLO! Phoenix is a COSMIC entity! Where’s the outer space part of the story!???!

Well, fingers crossed, the trailer above could be letting us know that they are going there. FINALLY! Saw a little bit of a space trip in there, but look and see if you see it, too.

(Plus, the teaser text after the jump. Really promising the good goods!)

So far, the ‘prequel’ and ‘alternate’ storyline movies (‘First Class,’ ‘Days Of Future Past,’ and ‘Apocalypse’) of the franchise have scaled up well as far as ‘popcorn effect’ goes… complex story arcs, conflicted characters, BIG explosions and massive destruction scenes from torn down cityscapes to ripped up ocean floors. And a plethora of X-Men are in play (most everyone but Wolverine, unless you count quick cameos). So whatever they choose to do with them and this story we can trust it’ll be epic, well worth the price of admission.

Of course, we will know that for sure by February of next year!

Science Fiction: A Planetary ‘Scavenger’ Comes Across NASA’s Voyager I Satellite Launched In 1977 (Short Film)

Interesting. Thinking that Gene Rodenberry’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” did something similar waaaay back in the day. This looks to be a very update take, certainly it’s own flick though.

And if you recognize the filmmaker Raphael Rogers as the one who did the “Beyond” short film we posted on here a good while back, kudos and a salute to you!

Marvel Introduces A New ‘Captain’ To The Universe (Trailer)

Whoooooaaaa! That looks like it’s gonna be DOPE!

That should be the tagline for almost every Marvel Comic Universe film. Including this one, “Captain Marvel.” Watch the trailer, and have your own reaction to, for Marvel Studios’ latest, in theaters March 8, 2019.

Filmmaker And Tech Enthusiast Pete Majarich Gives Us A Look At The ‘Surface Of Mars’… From Utah (Short Film)

Uh ohhh. Elon Musk, we have a problem.

There are still moon-landing deniers around who claim that all that video of that American space trip was faked. And this short film “The Visitor” (by Australian filmmaker Pete Majarich) is an even more appealing, amazing, look at a trip to what looks to be a ‘red’ planet.

This was shot in a southern Utah desert. Confirmed (hit the jump and see). So, if we make the Mars trip… proving it… could be a problem!

(But this is a cool tech-driven flick though. No problem with that.)

The Final Teaser For The “Predator” Reboot Is Shorter And Packed With More Crazy Action (Trailer)

Why should we give the “Predator” reboot a chance at the box office? Because,

They’re large.
They’re fast.
And f**king you up is their idea of tourism!

Movie line of the year!! Dialogue like that, plus whatever has Keegan-Michael Key hollering, “YEAH!” like that. Gotta risk the price of the ticket to see.

From the outer reaches of space to the backwoods of southern Georgia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before. And only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biology professor can prevent the end of the human race.

From “Luke Cage” Villain Back To Big Screen Bad Guy: Mahershala Ali Features In “Alita: Battle Angel” (Trailer)

You didn’t think Mahershala Ali was done when Alfre Woodard’s character deaded ‘Copperhead’ in season 1 of Netflix’s Marvel series “Luke Cage”, did you? Nah man, Robert Rodriguez still has work for the brother; work that will debut in theaters December 21, 2018.

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.

Long Live The “King Of The Monsters”… Godzilla! (Trailer)

Whoa! Looks like the modern movie-making era is finally getting it. Need to ramp up the hype to MONSTER levels WAY in ADVANCE for a potentially planet-wrecking monster movie. Godzilla, being the king of Kaiju monsters worldwide, deserves that respect and box office build-up.

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
– Warner Bros. Pictures

“Kong: Skull Island” was righteous. Here’s to hoping that this new “Godzilla” chapter even tops that. We’ll see NEXT summer!

Could Ant-Man Be The Most Powerful Avenger? (Video)

This one is more [theoretical] science than science fiction, and I will tell you in advance… I did not get it (even after the second watch) totally. But that last ‘outtake’ point that Kyle makes… I got that the first time! In fact, me and @RealSuperKing were talking about the ‘mass problem’ on “Ant-Man” in a different way while back: When he gets super-tiny, but retains his mass, wouldn’t he crack anyone’s arm he ran up?? SCIENCE!!

When you think of powerful Avengers, you probably think of Hulk or Thor, but should we be considering Ant-Man too? Kyle has the quantum realm science on this week’s “Because Science”!

This ep is awesome to watch. Now, do NOT let all this ruin your movie-watching experience. I won’t. In fact, I’m hoping to see an ‘easter egg’ in the “Ant-Man And The Wasp” movie that hints at Ant-Man giving Thanos the business… and saving the world #InfinityWars #HelpUsScottLang #MaybeOurOnlyHope

Action-Thriller “The Predator” Gets A Proper Reboot (Trailer)

In theaters on September 14, 2018, expect to hear some hollering at screens; the good, excited fan kind. Seen some lameness in the extensions of Schwarzenegger’s classic, but this one looks like the one that will allow us to collectively hit the reset button and forget about those ‘others.’

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
– 20th Century Fox

And Sterling K. Brown striking while that iron is still hot. And Keegan-Michael Key in there (because why let his partner Jordan Peele grab up all the movie review column space). Ha!

New ‘Bumblebee’ Transformer Movie Features Iconic Yellow Volkswagen Beetle Vehicle Form (Trailer)

Not mad at this at all. Feels like this flick’s storytelling will move closer to the comics and old cartoons. Good stories, maybe enough to pull a good movie from. When the Transformers emerged from 4 million years stasis on Earth, Bumblebee was a key figure. Though not the biggest or strongest, he was often entrusted with important spy missions, with protecting the Witwickys (Sparkplug, who helped discover a fuel conversion process for the Autobots, and his son Buster)… plus he could SWIM (comic fact-checking by ojones1, so y’all can ‘at’ him if you wanna argue, hahaaaa)!

Of course, Hollywood won’t stick to the 80s story too tight, but this still could make for a good holiday film.

The End Of “Avengers: Infinity War” Explained (Video)

WARNING: Do NOT watch if you have not seen ‘Infinity War’ and do not want it spoiled!

Okay, Marvel usually licenses properties in 3’s, but there is a lot of grain and grist in the rumor mill saying there will be an ‘Avengers 4’… and bits & pieces viewers got by the movie’s end actually make that make sense.
