Consider that the Internet Serviette Nardwuar came from way up north (Canada) to meet up and hold up a mic to the revolutionary mic controller, Mr. Chuck D of Public Enemy, reppin’ the East Coast. Everything’s bigger in Texas, including this interview. We usually see Nard catching his subjects off guard between the gifts and his grasp of quirky facts from their histories. The truth hurts. So get ready for some pain, as DJ Scratch (turntable controller for EPMD back in the day) delivers truth and insight into the ‘why’ behind Hip-Hop’s homogeneity nowadays. The beats sound the same. Truth. The rhymes? No need to even say it. But considering DJ Scratch’s Golden Era pedigree, it is amazing that he is able to break it down for us in the video above without losing his cool or shedding a tear about our music’s loss of authenticity.
(Feel it when Scratch says he did not even want to copy any of DJ Jazzy Jeff’s techniques and standards back in the day… They were HIS… and the rule for all things Hip-Hop was: No biting allowed!)

Common ‘Keeps It 100’ on Black Women & Fatherhood on ‘The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore’ (Video)

Common recently appeared on the panel revolving around Black Fatherhood on ‘The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore’ that airs on Comedy Central. New York Times columnist Charles Blow, founder of the Center for URban Families Joe Jones and comedian Mike Yard also take part in this discussion that began with the simple statement that ’72 percent of black children are born to unwed mothers.’
Although they tackle serious issues in this discussion, things get hilariously uncomfortable fast as Larry poses questions about whether they’d play in the Super Bowl instead of witnessing the birth of their first child & their opinions on whether or not black women are too domineering in relationships. Check out more video from the discussion below……

Film: The Tupac Shakur Biopic Is Set To Begin Shooting In June 2015 (Video)

According to this recent interview with one of the film’s producers, Randall Emmett (credits: ‘End Of Watch’, ‘Lone Survivor,’ 50 Cent’s Starz Original Series ‘Power’), we are looking at production for the Tupac Shakur biopic to start in June. This is big!
Morgan Creek is on board. The rights to the music…acquired and locked. Afeni Skakur (Pac’s mom) is executive producing. Green light! Believe it.
