Jordan Brand is about to celebrate to the released of their Air Jordan XX8 Sneaker that will be released in Houston on Friday February 15th during the NBA Allstar Weekend with the general release happening on February 16th. The suits over at Jordan Brand sought out the legendary Big Daddy Kane & DJ Premier to record something special for the release with “28 Bars Of Kane”. This is just one of the songs to be featured on a full-length project entitled “XX8 Days Of Flight.”

Pete Rock On ESPN First Take (Video)

One of the top 3 hip hop producers of all-time, the legendary Pete Rock appeared on ESPN’s First Take this morning to debate the key sports stories of the day with Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless. When I heard Pete Rock was going to be on the show I knew I was gonna tune in to watch it, but I did have some reservations because over the years Pete Rock has never been a very vocal person even in hip hop related interviews. After watching the show this morning it did appear to be a little rough for Pete Rock as his relatively shy & laid back demeanor was indeed overshadowed by Stephen A. Ed Lover On ESPN First Take (Video)

I watched the show this morning on ESPN First Take as Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless welcomed former radio & MTV personality Ed Lover on the show. Every Wednesday they invite a celebrity guest on the show to talk about any & everything in the world of sports. In this segment of the show they talked about the Manti Te’o fake girlfriend situation that’s been all in the media as of late. Personally, I don’t believe Manti Te’o’s story he’s been feeding to the media. I have come to my own conclusion & drawn my own theory of what really happened that I’ve mentioned at length on twitter, but I do believe it’s about time the media moves on with it. I laughed out loud at Ed Lover’s repeated use of the word “Swag” in this segment. I found that to be rather “corny”. More behind the scenes video after the jump below…

It’s the most important week in the NFL before SuperBowl XLVII takes place in New Orleans in two weeks. The San Francisco 49ers fly to battle the Atlanta Falcons here in Atlanta & the Baltimore Ravens drive up to the Boston area to see if they can muster a win for Ray Lewis for a SuperBowl return against the New England Patriots. Big Boi Puts Faith In The Atlanta Falcons On ESPN’s First Take (Video)

It’s a huge playoff game for the Atlanta Falcons this weekend as they take on the red hot Seattle Seahawks. As of right now the Atlanta Falcons are a 2-point favorite to beat the Seahawks, but in their last playoff game they only scored 2-points total versus the Green Bay Packers. No wonder people unwilling to give that vote of confidence in the Atlanta Falcons winning their first playoff game ever. Brooklyn Nets Coach Avery Johnson Fired (Video)

ESPN has confirmed that Avery Johnson, named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for November, was fired by the Brooklyn Nets. Assistant P.J. Carlisemo was named interim head coach, and he will keep the rest of Johnson’s staff. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
Now eighth place in their Conference, the Nets started hot, winning 11 of their first 15 games; but only three of the last 13 in December. Simply put, the sizzle fizzled. So, Brooklyn’s management and ownership decided to fire Johnson.
“I just got a sense, as I told Avery this morning, that he just wasn’t reaching [the team] anymore.”

Johnson’s reaction was captured in the clip above and in the clipped transcript below:
“…a really disappointing day… if I was owning the team, I wouldn’t have gotten fired today… it’s about the blame game… for the most part, in this business, the coach always gets blamed.”

Wow… just… wow. Way to ride out the tough times with your coach, Nets! I wonder if the decision was unanimous… Somebody get Jigga on the phone… 1/15 of one percent of the money talks. Okay, okay…that was uncalled for…but funny though.
Would-be replacements for Johnson, a list of noteworthy available coaches includes Phil Jackson (good luck!), Jerry Sloan, Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillan, Mike Dunleavy, Mike Brown, and ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy and Flip Saunders.

R&B: Brandy – “How High”

Brandy had a relatively good 2012 with her return back to the music & making a variety of promo runs & interviews. I was even surprised to see her on ESPN’s First Take speaking on sports. Didn’t seem like people on twitter cared about what she was saying because all they could talk about was how her ass looked on the show. She did indeed look amazing though. To celebrate her great year & the upcoming release of her new album “Two Eleven” next year, she let go of this previously unreleased mid-tempo track called “How High”. I truly dig the song, but the only thing I wasn’t too happy about is when Brandy starts rapping under her alter ego “Bran’Nu”. Sports: Cleared of Rape Charges, Former High School Football Star Still Pursuing NFL Dream (Video)

NFL Hall of Famer and Legendary Green Bay Packers Coach Vince Lombardi said it best: “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” Brian Banks must have heard those words before; because he is living them now.
The former high school football star was exonerated of a rape charge that, after 10 years, would be the end of one’s professional aspirations. Not, Banks’ though. He’s still pursuing his dream to play professional football! Now 27 years old, the linebacker finally signed with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League (UFL) after unsuccessful tryouts with the Seattle Seahawks (see video above), San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Banks should have been a Green Bay Packer. Still could be… Just saying. Considering that the only thing that has stopped him from playing pro ball is that the UFL folded due to financial challenges, you can bet that Banks will get up again (just as Lombardi coached); and if it is at all possible… Banks will get into the National Football League. He declares:
“I really do like my chances…The dream is still in pursuit.”

Cats in my hometown of Philly been riding these bikes around the city & throughout the neighborhoods for years. Interesting to see Meek Mill just tweeted about this new documentary on the Philly bike scene entitled “Ride to the Death.”

Contrast to the stunts, dirt tracks, and the celebrity of American Motocross, and allows you to dive beneath the layers of the urban inner city bike culture. In a strange twist of irony, the documentary is called “Ride To The Death” when in fact one of the bike riders featured in the documentary is actually “Deaf”. No pun intended.
