Blu – “The Clean Hand” (Prod. By Pete Rock)
We posted this joint from Blu & Pete Rock a few years ago & I’ve been banging in it on the radio show for a couple of years now. Now the west coast emcee releases the final version for the people.
Nas Talks Hip-Hop’s Presence In Fashion & Culture and Gives His Response To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’ Verse (Video)
Check out Nas’ response to Kendrick Lamar…
‘My response is “Wow, I love Hip-Hop right now.’
Miss Info, as an adept interviewer, tries to pull more from Nasir on the current “Control” verse controversy. But Nas is appropriately terse. Answers on that topic, and Hip-Hop’s influence and place in fashion and culture, were pointed and polite. You get the feeling that, toward the end of the clip, Nas is more ready to party than to answer more questions. Let’s go, Miss Info!

AZ – “I Excel” (Prod. Cookin Soul)
The 90s Hip-Hop all-time great AZ continues to validate himself on today’s music scape with this “I Excel” (produced by Cookin Soul) joint. “Doe or Die II” will drop later this year. The “Last Of A Dying Breed 2” mixtape will drop next month (September 2013). But you can get the single “I Excel” right now on iTunes.
Talib Kweli – “Human Mic” (Produced By Oh No) [Video]
Talib Kweli grabs the baton (so to speak) from Jigga, fusing art forms to push the Hip-Hop boundaries, and ‘conducts’ his own orchestral masterpiece – “Human Mic” (produced by Oh No) – in this video. Respect to RA The Rugged Man for the visual direction. The single is off Kweli’s latest LP, “Prisoner Of Conscious.”
Comedy: Invisible Driver Pulls Up In The Drive Thru (Video)
I spotted this hilarious prank that magician Rahat Hussein tweeted earlier today. It’s the third video in his “Drive Thru Invisible Driver Prank” series where he pulls up to the drive-thru windows of various fast food establishments as an invisible driver. The looks on all of the employees faces range from scared, humorous, cautious, & straight baffled. I literally LMAO watching this clip. In case you missed the previous episodes you can check out parts 1 & 2 below…
Comedy: The Daily Show’s Take On NYC’s ‘Stop & Frisk’ Issue (Video)
Who said hot women aren’t funny? Well, don’t say that anymore. Jessica Williams is hot… and hilarious in her skit on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The Show is currently being anchored by John Oliver while regular host Jon Stewart is on break working on his movie. This ‘Frisky Business’ segment comes to us from ‘Wall Street’ (aka ‘Business Harlem’), as Jessica gives hardline on-site commentary about the need for MORE stop-and-frisk in this crime-ridden area. Boom!
Terry Crews Stars As ‘Major Lazer’ (Video)
It’s a TV show teaser… no wait, a music video for “Scare Me†featuring raunchy dancehall queen Timberlee and Peaches. Whatever it is, it’s got DC Comics’ cyber-warrior Major Lazer brought to life in HD by Terry Crews. The visuals have ‘opening credits’ and what is, in effect, a mini-pilot of the Major Lazer TV show… which may or may not be a real show (but might make a cool one). Check it out!
“Scare Me” is available on the “Free The Universe” LP by Major Lazer (out on iTunes now).
Lorde – “Royals” (Weeknd Remix)
The first time I heard this song I played it back like a hundred times. This joint is gangsta! This is joint is extremely dope to me musically & lyrically. The Weeknd has a mix of New Zealand songstress Lorde’s track “Royals” with the shots and eagle screeches in there over a nice beat. Don’t know where the original mixing ends and The Weeknd’s remixing begins, but who cares. Press play and rock with this.
The Kali Muscle Story: Fresh Out – Life After The Penitentiary [Video]
Incredible documentary video (from the ‘Fresh Out‘ series) on former ex-con turned actor & professional bodybuilder Kali Muscle.
‘“Happier than a BodyBuilder Directing Traffic†is a Geico commercial we all know and love. That bodybuilder goes by Kali Muscle and he has an incredible backstory with a troubled past. Much like what happened with CT Fletcher, Kali is spreading across the internet after his short documentary surfaced on the Strength Project.’
The 2002 ‘Beltway Snipers’ Story – “Blue Caprice” (Film Trailer)
In theaters September 13, 2013, “Blue Caprice” relates a story pulled from the headlines and accounts of the ‘DC Sniper’ attacks of 2002. Starring Isaiah Washington as John Allen Muhammad and Tequan Richmond as his son.
‘A sniper must be able to calmly and deliberately kill without an apparent reason. A sniper must not be susceptible to emotions such as anxiety or remorse.’
Toni Braxton Gives an ‘Assed Out’ Performance Following Her Major Wardrobe Malfunction (Video)
Pop quiz: Toni Braxton comes out for a performance in a super sexy slinky number looking extra hot… giving an extra hot performance… then you see a flash of that azz. Wow! Then, you see it again and again… What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO???
Mannnn, you enjoy the show!
Now, wardrobe malfunction aside, it was a great show. You see that the New Jersey faithful got an eyeful of Toni from every beautiful side (whew) right from the start of this clip… but later, you see a gentleman fan offering his nice jacket to cover Toni’s way better than ‘nice’ posterior (after stage staff tried a ‘quick fix’). Just watch the whole thing…
Jadakiss Speaks On Kendrick Lamar & How Battling Is Good For Hip Hop (Video)
“Following suit ain’t always good… When you build a fan base in this game, they like you for what thy like you for. They don’t want me to be Kendrick or do what Kendrick do; and they don’t want Kendrick to do what they like ‘Kiss for…”
– Jadakiss
Jadakiss with jewels for the masses in his interview with DRIVEN on the STASHED TV channel. Jada’s seen a battle or two, so he can speak with authority on how a battle can be good (actually “therapeutic”) for Hip-Hop as long as it stays lyrical. Wow. Another timely piece from another Don from the Golden Era of Hip-Hop. Probably recorded before the Kendrick “Control” dropped; but truth is truth. Check out more video from this interview below….
Business: How Worker-Owned Companies Operate (Video)
I was speaking with a friend who is also an Oakland Raiders fan like myself. The Raiders have major financial obstacles in their attempts to get a new stadium built in Oakland or anywhere else in Northern California. The Oakland Raiders have also recently been ranked by Forbes magazine as the least valuable NFL franchise despite having a huge global fanbase. The Raiders have one of lowest amount of operating dollars of all the 32 teams in the NFL. Fans may not be able to help the stadium situation, but they can definitely change the value of the team. I have said on numerous occasions it would be great if the Raiders adopted a similar ownership system like the Green Bay Packers in which the fans of the team can become shareholders. The Green Bay Packers are the only NFL franchise that operates in this manner. Current NFL rules require an owner to have no less than a 30% majority share of the team. I feel this could work for the Raiders if owner Mark Davis offered a 49% or less share to the fans. Our discussion then turned to the corporate aspect of worker owned companies. Ironically I ran across this interesting short documentary on the topic while surfing the web that goes to further illustrate the point that collective ownership is the key to win in many instances.

Bumpy Knuckles x DJ Wayne Ski – “New York, Where You At?!?”
“Nine million rappers sharing one or two rhyme styles. Kill them n!ggas off. Triggas pulling off!”
Timely. Probably not recorded with anything to do with Kendrick’s “Control” verse or any of the freestyles; but what Bumpy Knuckles would say is likely summed up in this “New York, Where You At?!?” Then again, Bumpy Knucks never needed another record to spark fire on his own records. More proof of that here: Bumpy and DJ Wayne Ski with a FREE download to keep us interested in the “Black Card” album’s ever pushed release. Check it out.

R&B: Estelle – “Be In Love” feat. Jeremih
As a fan of reggae/dancehall & dub music I can really appreciate when good singers get together over this type of island breezy production. British singer Estelle enlists fellow R&B singer Jeremih to get down with her on this “Be In Love” track from her upcoming “Love & Happiness: Vol. 2 Waiting To Exhale” EP that will be released on her own label imprint New London Records. I’m feeling the latest push by a number of true R&B/Soul singers taking chances with more island style production in their music.
Rapsody – “Jedi Code” featuring Phonte x Jay Electronica
New joint from North Carolina female emcee Rapsody called ‘Jedi Code’ off of her forthcoming mixtape ‘She Got Game’ that’s due to drop any time now. This 9th Wonder produced joint also featured some welcome guest appearances from ill lyricst/singer/comedian Phonte & the ever elusive Jay Electronica.

The Kid Daytona – “Friendz†(Video)
Hip-Hop heads will likely recognize the beat. And respect The Kid Daytona’s lyrical technique. His “Friendz†is a good cut. Nice vid by SodaKat. More from The Kid:
‘I wrote these raps over KRS One’s classic “A Friend” instrumental, mainly because I thought all of this “No New Friends” shit was corny… If new people come into your life and bring positivity, prosperity, and new money opportunities… I say welcome them with open arms! And on the flip side of that, having people in your life with no drive and a bunch of negativity isn’t healthy at all… With that said, enjoy the visuals.’
