Comedy: Tommy Davidson Serving ‘Chocolate Sundaes’ (Trailer)
‘What’s Black and White…and 100% hilarious?” ‘Chocolate Sundaes’ sketch comedy… hosted by Tommy Davidson (one of the ‘In Living Color’ core cast members back in the day)! Showtime better do right by this show! That’s all I’m saying. It premiered last night, but will run all month long (according to the trailer above).
The first 10 seconds… I was hooked! Watch.

Nas Speaks With David Grohl On ‘Chelsea Lately’ (Video)
‘Chelsea Lately’ with no Chelsea? Yeah. Don’t worry about it. Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters took over hosting duties for Chelsea Handler and interviewed Nas for the series Grammy show week. The interview touched on Hip-Hop’s presence at the Grammys, differences between the Hip-Hop world and that of Rock music, and more. Good late night TV.

[WOW! The ONLY way I got a a piece of a copy of “The Family” was holding a micro-cassette recorder up to the TV speakers to record off BET! – @ojones1]

Dead Prez – “No Way As The Way” (Video)
Official music video for “No Way As The Way” from the Dead Prez (M1 and Stic.Man) release “Information Age Deluxe.” Beautiful sentiments on life and spirituality expressed in the song (brought to life in the video). Check out what Stic.Man had to say about its conceptualization:
‘The song “No Way As The Way,” that title comes from my martial arts practices. Jeet Kune Do is one of the arts that I’ve had the chance to practice. Jeet Kune Do was created by Bruce Lee. It’s an approach to martial arts that says that having no way as the way, is the way. To make it simple: not being locked into any particular way as the only way to get something done, in terms of your fighting.
That spills over into the philosophy of life in terms of having no set way, no rigid position that you’re trying to hold, but being adaptable and fluid and flowing. Long story short, that martial arts practice has inspired my thinking a lot. When we decided to write a song on “Information Age” about spirituality and religion, it was so fitting.’

Era of the Engineer: Young Guru (Video)
Young Guru is staking out his lane as a subject matter expert (more like a technical engineer than a music/sound engineer) in an impressive way. Here is video of Hip-Hop DJ/Producer/Engineer Young Guru on his weekend in San Francisco. Lectures at Pandora headquarters, AES Producer Panels, conversations with the creator of BitTorrent… Young Guru touches many points along the modern music productions and distribution spectrum, keeping in touch with those who continue to shape it. Great vid.
AraabMUZIK – The Prince Is Coming
Providence DJ and beat monster AraabMuzic (born Abraham Orellana) leaks the first single – “The Prince Is Coming†– from his forthcoming mixtape “For Professional Use Only†(due out February 15, 2013). This joint is a certified banger & I always expect nothing less than the best from this producer. The track reminds me of my first trip to Dubai last year. I could have used this track in my iphone when I touched down in the city to signal the arrival of the one & only Prince King Jayforce. Maybe I’ll use this track when I eventually get around to editing all the video footage I have from the trip. For now peep the track & my photo under the hood below…

Demigodz – “Dead In The Middle” (Video)
This video for the single “Dead In The Middle” by Demigodz (Ryu, Celph Titled, Apathy) is a straight up banger! Good choice in sampling Big Pun’s classic “Dead In The Middle Of Little Italy” lines in the hook paired with the scary Scooby Doo ambience. Overall these cats are winning with this combination of ill lyricism & delivery, a banging track, & a dope ass looking video. I’m still trippin’ off that “Sack-Religious” line. The group’s album – “Killmatic” – is available for pre-order now at www.demigodzstore.com
REKS – “I Remember” featuring Rapper Big Pooh (Prod. By A3)

Technology: Flying Drones, You Can Own Your Own (Video)
Above: Bitcraze is buzzing will be selling mini-drone copter kits this spring, but you can pre-order now.
Wait…WHAT? Didn’t we just post on military drones that might be over our cities. Now, we’re talking about drones in our cities… launched from private homes? Yep. Believe it.
Marcus Eliasson, Arnaud Taffanel, and Tobias Antonsson are the engineers behind the Swedish startup Bitcraze; and they now accepting pre-orders for a palm-sized quadcopter called the Crazyflie Nano. At less than four inches across and 19 grams, the device is small enough to fly under tables and chairs, and through enclosed spaces.
The trio used only open source material for the project’s hardware and code. So, they did not have to waste time and money they did not have to test and perfect their market version. No fighting over intellectual property rights either.
They have already gotten suggestions for modifications to the $149 device, and hacked the copter to carry a video camera, LEDs, and even an inductive charger. There will already be a more advanced, $173 Crazyflie Nano, with a magnetometer and altimeter offered.

R&B: BJ The Chicago Kid – “Honey”
BJ The Chicago Kid has some great music that I’ve been occasionally going back to over the last year like his “Good Good Love” collabo with rap artist Rapsody & my favorite “Good Luv’n” off of his “Pineapple Now-Laters” project. With that said it’s a good thing he’s not one of these artists that’s been constantly throwing out disposable material on the internet every day of the week. His label reps over at Motown are claiming that this new joint “Honey” produced by B!nk is his official first single. Right away when I peeped that producer & singer/songwriter combination I knew this joint was gonna sound good & I wasn’t disappointed. Nice little nods lyrically to Aaliyah’s hit record ‘Rock The Boat’ & the Bee Gee’s heavily sampled 1979 classic ‘Love You Inside Out’.
Phil Beaudreau – “This Is Why” feat. Dawuan Parker
I haven’t heard not one subpar record from newcomer Phil Beaudreau upon discovering his music within the past year. His unique vocals coupled with the production talent of producer Dawuan Parker is a winning combination for him. Without question “This Is Why” I believe this kid could make an even larger impact in the music industry if he wants to & if the stars align properly.
R&B/Soul: Tweet – “Enough”
Good scoop from SoulBounce. Tweet is finally dropping her EP “Simply Tweet“ after teasing us with weekly #TweetTuesdays leaks last summer. Tweet recently signed to MC Lyte’s DuBose Music Group. So… Lyte doing that work for the Jordan campaign… and the Tweet signing and coming release… Hmm. Nice moves.
Souls Of Mischief – “Stop And Look†(Remix) [Prod. By Black Milk]
Adrian Younge is mixing of old soul with music in step with (maybe even a bit ahead of) today’s trends for a collaborative project with Delfonics front man William Hart – “Adrian Younge Presents the Delfonics” (due out March 12, 2013). The lead single put a Hip-Hop twist on the tried and true sound – a track called “Stop and Look (And You Have Found Love)†…and now… This… is… the [“Stop and Look”] remix. Check out Detroit’s Black Milk track work, blessed by lyrics from West Coast Golden Era emcee troupe Souls Of Mischief.

Nesby Phips – “Kids Kids Kids” feat. Dee-1
The homie, emcee, & dope producer from New Orleans Nesby Phips gets it in with fellow N.O. native Dee-1 over this “Kids Kids Kids” track where they spit inspired bars focused on taking care of the family. Good to see these cats finally linked up on a song since they’ve been running around in the same circles performing & being nominated for various awards since 2008.
