Willie Taylor (of Day26) gives voice to the frustration of getting romantically tied up with someone who belongs to another on “Not Mine.” Accompanying Taylor on the Brandon “B.A.M.†Alexander beat, Dondria echoes the sentiment. Now, you can feel the lovers’ lament; but beware… you also can feel the fire and desire between these two (on the track… I’m not trying to start rumors about their personal lives). This is one of what will surely be many gems from the upcoming full-length solo release, “The Reintroduction of Willie Taylor” (due out September 25, 2012 according to DJbooth.net).

New Voter ID Laws Take Us Back To The ‘Jim Crow’ Era (Video)

Supposedly, new Voter ID laws are being pushed into place “to reduce instances of voter fraud.” But many have said, on record, that voter fraud is NOT even a real problem. Now, fraudulent practices with vote COUNTING… Well, that’s another Bush election altogether. Fact: Requiring NEW forms of ID to combat voter fraud has the effect, intended or not, of DENYING THE RIGHT TO VOTE in key segments of the population! Keesha Gaskins and Michael Waldman from the Brennan Center for Justice sat down on PBS’ Moyers & Company to explain. Using new research, Waldman and Gaskins argue these laws represent “the first rollback of voting rights since the Jim Crow era.â€

A twist on the theme of James Bond 007 movie “The World Is Not Enough,” Nesby Phips (producer behind the “Floorsleepers” series) and Reem collaborate to bring us super agent firepower in mixtape form on “0017th: Hollygrove Ain’t Enough.” Ralph Simon (co-founder of Jive Records) introduces the project as a character likened to “Q” from the 007 movies; issuing mission orders to featured New Orleans ‘agents’ like Mack Maine, Curren$y, Juvenile, Fiend, and others. What?? Where is the Air Marshall? Hahaaa! All of a sudden, dancers who were part of Kanye West’s Australian Tour 2012… did a choreographed dance routine… on an airplane… in flight! Where’s the choreographer, Yemi AD? Filming the @#$! thing, of course. This is crazy! But… there are worse “takeover situations” that could happen on a plane. I’ll bet folks were quickly able to get over an in-flight flash mob of beautiful women.

Caught wind of the buzz on this single just doing my thing online. A Facebook friend inboxed me… hours later I got an email… and saw a Facebook wall post for “Is Your Love Big Enough?” Figured I better get on the job and check it out. The song’s performer, alternative folk and soul singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Lianne La Havas, was born and raised in London, England, the daughter of a Jamaican mother and Greek father. Recently, “Is Your Love Big Enough?” (La Havas’ debut album for Warner Brothers) was released in the U.K. in July 2012; followed up with a U.S. release earlier this month. The single and full length (both carrying the same title) are available now via iTunes. Lianne La Havas is currently on tour across Europe. Saw no U.S. dates on her site yet, but who knows? For now, take a chance to get up on this talent before she makes her way to the states.
