Herschel Walker Wins His 2nd MMA Fight By TKO (Video)
Herschel Walker used to be one of my favorite running backs ever in college football when he played for UGA. I also followed his pro career heavily when he played in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals before making his transition to the NFL when the USFL folded. As a Philly kid I attended more than a few of those NJ Generals games back then too. In fact when I played highschool football I studied Herschel’s training methods, games, & running style to further enhance my own. Who would have thought that years from now Herschel Walker would become something of the ultimate sports warrior athlete. Herschel is a pure athlete & freak of nature going from running track, to U.S. Olympic Bobsledding to Mixed Martial Arts. This guy is 48 years of age looking like he’s only 30 & pounding out guys half his age. I’m impressed & inspired! Gotta get my physical training & MMA training in. Damn!

Kool Herc, The Father Of Hip Hop Culture, Is Hospitalized & In Need Of Financial Assistance

On DJ Premier’s Sirius XM Satellite radio show Friday night, Primo said he spoke with Kool Herc who is currently hospitalized & gravely ill. The problems are compounded by the fact that Kool Herc doesn’t have any medical insurance which could drive costs to skyrocket. The 55 year old father of what we call ‘Hip Hop’ culture is largely credited for its inception with a event that took place August 11th, 1973 near Sedgwick & Cedar Aves in the South Bronx. Kool Herc is also credited by music historians & DJs alike for utilizing “breaks” during a party or event by isolating select segments of a song which, in a way, became a form of manual remixing live. As a community activist, DJ Kool Herc also was responsible for saving the building in which ‘Hip Hop’ culture was birthed at 1520 Sedgwick after real estate investors wanted to take over the property & remove many of the tenants still living there.
DJ Premier posted on his twitter page how people can help DJ Kool Herc with the information posted below:

UPDATE: Kool Herc’s sister is handling everything for him & has now setup a Paypal account as an option to where donations can be sent:

Taraji P. Henson Appears On The Chelsea Lately Show (Video)
It’s hard for me to believe that Taraji P. Henson is single. She’s not only attractive, but in the majority of interviews I’ve seen her in she’s always displayed a very down to earth personality. It’s rare when you find women who have a sense of humor, great head on her shoulders, & still attractive. Hopefully she’ll shoot a movie in Atlanta soon so I can make my way to the set. I’m only joking. Sort of. Ummm well…… maybe I’m not.
Underrated Classic: Cooley Live – Shake Her (Video)
This song was an underrated classic from back in the day….The key element was the production & the hook in my opinion, but overall this was a classic joint that many hip hop heads from that era may have forgotten. Hip Hop? R&B? It’s true….the 90s was a good period for music even from the one hit wonders. Enjoy

Classic Clips: Chaka Khan On The Drums
Chaka Khan was bad back in her day. Not only could she sing & play the drums, but she was sexy as hell at the same damn time. You female artists today better step your game up! -Isreal
Countdown To Super Bowl XLV: Jerry Jones Gives A Tour Of The New Stadium
We’re just one week away from Super Bowl XLV with the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Green Bay Packers down in Dallas Texas. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would have liked to see his Cowboys play a SuperBowl in the new stadium but quite frankly the ‘Cowgirls’ sucked this year. No pun intended. At least the Cowboys organization can be proud of the awesome stadium they get to play in week in & week out. Most of us will not be able to get in the stadium to see the Super Bowl, but at least we can enjoy the tour ‘ol Jerry gives in the video above. Super Bowl XLV kicks off next Sunday February 6th. Go Steelers

Gladys Horton, Founding Member Of Motown’s Girl Group The Marvelettes, Passes At Age 66
I can’t honestly say I’m familiar with Gladys Horton as an individual because she was largely before my time, but I’m quite familiar with the Marvelette’s as a group & their hit songs such as ‘Please Mr. Postman’, ‘Don’t Mess With Bill’, & ‘Beechwood 4-5789’. Most of the time I keep my ipod on shuffle, but I still continue to listen to plenty of Motown on a regular basis when I’m in the mood. Motown Records was such an iconic record label there’s no way anyone could not be familiar with the massive catalog. Producers like Kanye West are familiar because he’s sampled the Marvelettes work in the past. Not only did I want to take this time out in this post to show respect & honor, but the purpose of this post is also to reflect back to a time when artists had more pride in their craft. Far too often artists of our generation fail to really put on a well choreographed show. I believe if artists trained more like boxers they would go back & watch film of the great ones that came before them. In the video above check out how the ladies had their routine down with ill precision. The mini breaks & skits also connect well & allows the ladies to keep it moving thus preventing any lulls in their performance. It’s enjoyable to look back at history, but it’s also a textbook study for performing artists. Not only is this a time to look at the talent that paved the way, but we salute these legends like Gladys Horton for providing shining examples of greatness. Now I feel like going back & watching the movie Coolie High for the 249,256,389th time…..
Dez – Back It Up (Video)
I ran across this song on the web & thought it sounded kinda cool on the R&B side of things. At first I thought it could have been something Chris Brown recorded but was surprised to find out the person singing is a 19 year old kid from Richmond Virginia named ‘Dez’. Come to find out he also shot a viral video for this song “Back It Up” too so I decided to post it. Chris Brown, Trey Songz, & now I guess this new kid ‘Dez’ is on the way & next up for his shot at stardom. Seems like V.A. is for lovers new young singers these days huh? Check him out on this Facebook Page

Video Model: Tahiry Jose – Stands Alone
Spotted this video over at my homie MarcusRespekt’s blog GRILCHYFACE.COM. It’s a video vignette of Joe Budden’s former girlfriend & model Tahiry Jose. Beautiful & artistically done without being too raunching…..although raunchy is good at times. Ha!
