Poised Under Pressure: How Michael K. Williams Finds Peace (Video)
I love what I do, but I LOVE when people love what I do.
– Michael K. Williams
That sentiment stokes the fire that builds pressure in the cooker. Making this episode or that film the best, making the most of this media appearance or that one. On top of that, Michael is his own ‘image consultant’ – choosing his own clothes and look for these events. Why does he add that pressure to the situation when, at his level, he could hire someone.
Because the time he spends dressing himself, getting a haircut… are like his Zen meditation. Peaceful silence and renewed focus. Watch.

San Andreas (Teaser Trailer)
“Where will you be, who will you be with, when everything falls apart?â€
Coming this summer is the brand new disaster earthquake film “San Andreas” starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. What should make this epic film frightening for many on the West Coast is the very real likelihood a disaster of this magnitude will take place because the San Andreas fault line runs underneath much of California. I’ve even heard & watched seismic experts say it’s not a question of “if”, but it’s a question of ‘When’ it will happen. Hopefully it doesn’t occur before the movie hits theaters on May 29, 2015.
“After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter.
But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.” – San Andreas Movie
NYC Ferguson Protests (Mini-Documentary)
Ambient music as the backdrop for this moving picture portrait of the Ferguson-sparked protests that took place on the streets and bridges of New York (New York, USA). Improvised piano performed as the score by Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange.
“I feel ya” And Other Expressions Of Andre 3000 On Exhibit (Video)
When you describe Andre Benjamin as an artist it could mean multiple things. First he is a musician, also a visual artist, an actor and just a cool Southern gentleman. Not to mention Andre is known by many names – Dre, Andre 3000, 3 Stacks to name a few. So when you think about Art Basel it’s not surprising to see Andre getting involved with the yearly Exhibit/Event.
Andre Benjamin has teamed up with  filmmaker Greg Brunkalla (B.F.A., film and television, 2001) and painter Jimmy O’Neal (B.F.A., illustration, 1989) both graduates of SCAD (Savannah College Of Art & Design). The exhibit is called “I feel ya†where all 47 of 3 Stacks black jumpsuits that he wore during Outkast recent tour. His fashion statement became part of the live show where phrases like “Make Love Like War†and “Across Cultures Darker People Suffer Most Why?â€
The display is accompanied by a short film titled “Trumpets” by Brunkalla and large paintings by O’ Neal. If you are at Art Basel 2014 you can catch an early glimpse and it will continue to show at Savannah College of Arts & Design (SCAD) University summer 2015. Check out this video that features Paula Wallace president of SCAD talking with Andre 3000 regarding what inspired this fashion statement.
“I feel yaâ€Â provokes a socially dynamic conversation about language and context.

Journey Home (Trailer)
An injustice often makes for a good movie storyboard; unfortunate that the situation has to be so tragic in this case. Did you see ‘Fruitvale Station’ (the tragic story of Oscar Grant’s shooting)? This is going to be another incredibly painful why-dammit-whyyyy experience like that. Should be a powerful film to watch. Inspired by the tragic shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
The Digital Sex Industry (Documentary)
What is sex? What is sex online? What can tech do for (or to) your love life? Though we have continually wrestled with these questions… perhaps it’s time we REALLY talk nuts and bolts (yeah, let your mind wander) about it.
In “Digital Love,” VICE investigates how love and sex is faring in the digital age, starting with technology’s notorious bedmate, the adult entertainment industry. We make a pilgrimage to LA’s “Porn Valley” to witness firsthand how virtual reality is scarily close to creating fully interactive porn before heading to Europe’s sex capital, Amsterdam, where the Dutch enthusiastically enlist the use of “teledildonics” to enhance their long-distance relationships.
Porn leads the way in media and tech. This could very well be the very near future. And Facebook is in on this now? Once again, VICE is taking us there. Watch.
Jurassic World (Film Trailer)
Looks like this one could make up for “Jurassic Park III.” Okay, so on June 12, 2015… twenty years after the incredible original… the scientists and business folk finally have their dino-Park open. “Jurassic World” looks to be a hit. Unfortunately for the thousands upon thousands there, biting is allowed!
(Damn scientists never know when to quit, do they? What’d they think would happen?)
Raiders Of The Lost Art (Part 2) [Documentary]
Having a Part 1 implied at least a Part 2, right? And with as monumental a happening as the formation and release of PRhyme is… you didn’t think we would leave you hanging with just a piece of the story they have to tell…
Did you? C’mon now!
Is your rhyme dope? If it ain’t, it don’t mean sh!t. That’s the bottom line.
– DJ Premier
Bonus: Adrian Younge’s contributions to “PRhyme” are highlighted. Catch up with the first part before hitting play, if you need to (below). Link to the pre-order follows, too.
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ART (PART 1) | DJ PREMIER X ROYCE DA 5’9 – PRHYME
#89Blocks: A Film By Goldie Taylor (Trailer)
#89BLOCKS (formerly called “The Other Side of Grace” is a feature length documentary on the rise and decline of an American city, the resilience of its people, and a football team that refuses to quit. Producer and veteran journalist Goldie Taylor takes us back to her hometown of East St. Louis, Illinois – the most dangerous city in nation (according to the FBI) — where legends are born and sometimes die.
This is the latest trailer for a movie that is still in the works. More funding is needed to complete it. Watch the trailer, and if you are moved to donate to the cause, here is the link:
Raiders Of The Lost Art (Part 1) [Documentary]
I’m gonna keep boom-bappin’ it…
– DJ Premier
Damn right. Preemo spends every day in the studio. Royce da 5’9 getting it in in the gym [nearly] every day to keep his body, mind and rhymes tight. Grown men do grown things. Grown men in Hip-Hop… might just save this thing. Pay attention to part 1 of this docu-series narrated by Bun B (of UGK) about the lives of the duo behind PRhyme and their giving life to their self-titled project giving new life to old school Hip-Hop style!
The Cobbler (Trailer)
“It’s a privilege to walk in someone else’s shoes. But it’s also a responsibility.”
Adam Sandler. Dustin Hoffman. Steve Buscemi… and Method Man. At the very least, this should be interesting.
(On the other hand, what is it with Sandler and gadgets in movies? Didn’t he already do “Click” with the ‘remote control of life’ thing?)
But yeah, besides the interesting cast. Discovering you could become anyone whose shoes you stepped into – as “The Cobbler” – whose shoes would you choose? Watch Sandler’s character’s choices (and lessons). Trailer promises a thought provoking, touching film.
Sex & Broadcasting (Trailer)
We know the story of WFMU, 91.1 FM New York. Not specifically that station, but about hardworking folk who work at a radio show, doing shows and the work it takes to make them out of pure love (e.g. no money), devotion and a sense of duty to the community. We have been doing it for years, for our show – Beatz & Lyrics – every week, for listeners worldwide. So this trailer touched a special part of our collective soul.
Check out the trailer for the VICE documentary on the New Jersey station. Looks good!
Eaten Alive (Trailer)
You’ve probably heard talk of it by now: A dude that goes into the jungle looking for an anaconda to eat him alive. And you probably dismissed that talk as some craziness; or at least something you must have misheard in some way. Nope.
Naturalist and wildlife filmmaker Paul Rosolie enters the belly of an anaconda in a custom-built snake-proof suit.
It’s just like you heard (but it is crazy, so you were actually right on that). It ‘goes down’ December 7, 2014 at 9 PM ET.
Annie (Final Trailer)
Now there’s a release date for the ultimate Broadway musical and movie remake… “Annie.” The sun’ll come out tomorrow. But this movie will come out December 19, 2014.
Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.
Rosewater (Trailer #1)
Gonna be hard for the host of Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to hide behind the just-a-comedian shield with this real-life theatrical political statement.
A journalist is detained in Iran for more than 100 days and brutally interrogated in prison.
Yeah, that happened. And Jon Stewart (‘Daily Show’ host / producer & screenwriter for this movie) felt compelled to tell the story. Due to be up on big screens soon!
