Camp Lo – “X Seminar” (Prod. By Ski Beatz) [Video]
Nobody brings old school to the new like legendary Bronx (NY, USA) duo Camp Lo. The visuals above, then, will be both a pleasant surprise and a welcome return to throwback bar-for-bar tradeoffs on a track; presented with vintage visual flair. This is “X Seminar” (produced by Ski Beatz). Ski Beatz will actually be producing Camp Lo’s next album in its entirety.
Comedy: Bust A Nut (Video)
Coming to a ‘hood near you. One man, one hammer, one question… You wanna help him ‘bust a nut?’ What??? Maybe you thought that was a Kevin Hart thing going. Well, um, actually… a few folks responded to this prankster ‘asking’ if he ‘wanna go night-night’ (in a manner of fistocuffs speaking).
Haa haaaa! You have to admit. It’s funny to see a prank go off well; funnier still to see it go horribly wrong, with the prankster getting a well-earned azz whuppin! Some folks you don’t play with. See which folks when you play the video above.
‘Mike Tyson Mysteries’ Coming To Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim (Trailer)
I don’t know if you ever did… but back in the day, I actually remember looking around before I laughed at a Iron Mike Tyson impression; wondering if the boxing champ could take a joke or would go off and randomly whupp an azz or three including me. Not saying I’mo just go out like a punk; but back in the day… squaring off with the Baddest Man On The Planet wasn’t good for your general health. Ask any prize fighter he dropped on the ring mat in 90 seconds or less.
But now, with his appearances, movies and stage plays and interviews poking fun at himself and even his past, the world gets a different Mike; less Iron, more amiable. And definitely funny! But who could have known just how funny? Well, Adult Swim on Cartoon Network had a clue; and now there is a series to prove it. Spoofing the ever spoofable “Scooby Doo Mysteries” cartoon show (and its many, many reboots), the “Mike Tyson Mysteries” will be on the Toon tube very soon (due out Fall 2014).
Check out the hilarious trailer above.

ATL: The Untold Story Of Atlanta’s Rise In The Rap Game (Documentary)
VH1 rockDOCS brings another one in for a landing. Last night, “ATL: The Untold Story Of Atlanta’s Rise In The Rap Game” debuted on VH1 and gave viewers an hour of video power that frames Atlanta’s Hip-Hop culture and music development in one complete narrative work; then to now.
The documentary covers the city’s evolution, from segregation to a modern day cultural mecca, aka Black Hollywood. ATL became the place to be; a Hip-Hop nerve center and focal point for what’s now and next. The city with the power now… and into the foreseeable future; and this is the documentary that tells its story. Deep and thorough. Reflective and provocative. Watch and get some questions answered. Start some new conversations. Enjoy.
Kardinal Offishall x DJ Snake – “I’m A Star” feat. Quinn Marie (Video)
Do me a favor. Just continue with that dance floor misbehavior.
– Kardinal Offishall
KardiO! This is some workout music… rather, work it out on the dance floor music. And the video delivers the energy of the music. Crazy! Kind of how Kardi says the video shoot came together…
There have been so many pirate mansion parties in Toronto that I decided to have one of my own. The first mansion that I went to had the gate unlocked and bottles of champagne in the back….so I let myself in! Why? Because I’m a star…WATCH ME DO IT!
Say what???? Man, watch! “I’m A Star” by Kardinall Offishall and DJ Snake features the very sexy Quinn Marie (holding her own in the Tom-foolery of the vid, too).

Methuzulah – “The Strategist” (Produced By Tone Beatz)
We bring it to you like Illa J on Dilla Day.
– Methuzulah
Recommendation: Listen to this jawn twice. Once for the pure Hip-Hop enjoyment; then again for the message. By the second spin, you will get that feel like the slaves passing messages via hymns in the fields. Like a move is about to be made. Methuzulah is indeed “The Strategist.” Peep.
Throw your hands up, and just stand up, if you really think that they should give your land up; and your bread back. Yeah, I said that. I’m just trying to see where ya head at.

(To tell the truth, even the Lower Deck economy class seating ain’t no punk. Nice.)
T-Pain Tells Snoop Why He Let The Locks Go (Video)
Whoa! T-Pain cut off all the dreadlocks. But why? Well, the way he tells it to Snoop on GGN, fatherhood threw him off balance for a bit. Getting a career white hot, balling out of control, grinding for more while he’s got the spotlight, then came family… It got to be too much…not even fun for him. Can’t have So he stepped back. Had to let some things go; some things that were hard to let go.
“It was just some things I had trouble letting go of in my life, so I figured if I can let go of the hair, I can let go of anything.”
So it began with the hair. And it looks like Pain (formerly DJ Pain, always something on which to fall back in Jacksonville) is getting it back together; back into the music. Wonder if that battle with the strip club addiction is on-going (EXPENSIVE habit, we posted on that here).
Eye Candy: Celia K In “Wind It Up” (Video)
Oh yeahhhh! You see her. The very fit, nice-n-thick ATL shawty Celia K is back at it again with her fine as wine self. This vid got labeled “Wind It Up” …and um yeah …called that perfectly. Exactly how I felt watching it. See what I go through for y’all. But it’s my pleasure.
Now it’s yours. More Celia K here. And you can follow @IHeartCeliaK on Instagram.

Redman adds his voice to Caviar Gold’s campaign to be the brand of choice for herbal medicine (marijuana… talking ’bout that Mary Janeway today). Passing the good to Kurupt, Bingx and Dr. Zodiac in the cipher, the emcees rock this “Caviar Gold” (beat by Duane Darock) single off the company’s musical compilation that will also feature the likes of Wiz Khalifa, E-40, Kurupt, Bone, Snoop Dogg, Crooked I & Techn9ne.
Strobe & Essex – “Charades†(Produced By Jamille Malik) [Video]
How can you let your dreams turn into nightmares? It’s quite clear. You didn’t try hard enough. Or is it that you don’t care? And if you didn’t you can’t hate your boys when they shine; running in them streets when you should’ve been on your grind.
– Aural Essex
Right behind the single my folks drop the visuals AND “The Grand Arrival” (EP). Good work, fellas. Stop all the “Charades” and get on that grind…hard! Hip-Hop needs this from Boston’s finest – Aural Essex and Strobe IW. ‘Two cats from Boston, (Dorchester to be exact) who love hip-hop, anime, graffiti, and the truth,’ according to their Facebook fan page. Good dudes. Came across a good while back, listening in to Boston’s Time Travelin’ Radio (hosted by my good people DJ Nomadik and Darcie Nicole… what up ladies). Called into the show, chatted ’em up, and stayed in touch. Proud to know them.
Usually Essex is the main mic gripper; leaving the beat banging and business wrangling (for IW Records / Dorchester Univercity – label / manufacturing & merchandising) to Strobe. But on this chumpy, props given to producer Jamille Malik for music so cold I get shivers.
Well, enough from me. Watch the fellas take it to the streets in the video above. And as always, you can follow me at my Twitter handle below.

Vinyl Destination | Ep. 17 “Oooh Kille’m” On Season 2 With The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff (Video)
Good rest-up over the time off. Good van ride over to the hotel in England. Good sound check. Good chill time before the night’s show. Oh, speaking of chill… damn it got cold, right Steve? Bwaahahaa. All in all, no tripping just good times before, up to, and through the party set for this episode of Vinyl Solution. Until the crew gets stuck in the elevator…
We gotta draw straws to see who we gone eat…
– DJ Jazzy Jeff
Uh oh. Drama begins. The fellas get out, but it don’t stop. After the party it the after party NO! It’s a mad dash back to pack and load into the van, to dash over to another show in Ireland (Cork; where Jeff and Skillz kille’m every time with that “Jump Around” apparently), then catch a flight, to do back-shows after that (Bristol, then Manchester).
You probably recognize the work of one Dayne Jordan on the episode’s soundtrack; some of the cuts posted here on the site. Dope,
Enjoy the ep.
Big Men (Documentary)
Now, this is long enough a film to be called an epic saga… but it’s real life. And it keeps happening to us. “Big Men” takes us into the high-powered world of African oil deals – money, power, but the respect… that’s limited. The lens the filmmakers use – the telling of a couple of stories about countries at different levels in the oil game at the time: Ghana and Nigeria. The main story is an insider’s inside view of Dallas-based oil company Kosmos Energy and its partners developing the first commercial oil field in Ghana’s history (between 2007 and 2011). In parallel, the documentary covers an angle of the oil story in Nigeria’s Niger Delta: a militant gang trying to profit off oil in many and any ways…holding that they must do it because the prosperity promised the region’s people hasn’t come after all these years. Very telling of Ghana’s future in the industry.
It’s a shame. Same damn story. Outsiders find a rare resource in Africa. They seek to exploit it for profit. They know the venture will be dangerous and risky to the native people and to themselves. But that’s okay in capitalist pursuits; shared risk, shared rewards, right? But then the money comes, and there is just never enough to do the right thing, is there? And you know, even that might be okay, if everyone wins and loses sometime… but that is NEVER the case. Corrupt government and politicians ALWAYS win; partnering with the oil companies who always win. The people who scrape by, legally or illegally, win small if ever. And the every day person ALWAYS loses. And it’s always Africa. And it is always apparent right from the start.
Watch.
In the Ghana story. Man. They were burning $2 Billion of oil … a day … and they are just ‘testing’ the field? Wowwww… Extracting oil from Ghana was not only being done in a less-than-equitable way; it was WASTEFUL and was putting toxins in the air to no one’s benefit. Well, at least to start; as Kosmos Energy and its stakeholders looked to make many more billions once pumping begins in earnest. Guaranteed it doesn’t get better for the people from that point.
The Other Guys – “15 Cents” (Video)
The Other Guys drop the video for “15 Cents” off “Seeds of Ambition.” Listen close as they define the level of grind.
I’m tryin’a make a dollar outta 15 cents. I’m tryin’a make a dime so I can pay my rent.’
Well, you know… you could help with that… via the links below. We got ’em for you. But watch the video first. It’s good.
Janelle Monae Surprises New York Based Band & Fans In The Park (Video)
McCarren Park, Brooklyn, NY. There’s this street band there, The Drumadics, rocks! Worth seeing alone. But what if Janelle Monáe surprised them during one of their shows at the park? Dopeness through the roof! Well…
Janelle Monae surprises New York City’s most talented street musicians: The Drumadics at McCarren Park in Brooklyn. They put on an incredible performance that captivated an unsuspecting audience.
G-Unit – “Ahhh Sh!t” (Video)
Stirring theme can be uniquely treated with shakiness in the effects, to say the least. G-Unit just dropped an EP and this single, an of-by-and-for the streets joint called “Ahhh Sh!t.” Got the video embedded above (RIP Mike Brown, respect Ferguson protesters, #$%! police brutality). You can also pick up the EP (“The Beauty of Independence”) via the link below.
Prince – “Clouds” featuring 3rdEyeGirl
His name is Prince. And he is funky. AND…he is dropping two plates this year (on September 29, 2014) – “Art Official Age” and “Plectrum Electrum” – because he can!
