Event: Sango at The Graveyard Tavern Tonight in Atlanta!
Yet another thing that’s cool about the A-T-L (and…eh hem… about checking this site often), is the hip happenings that hop into to view to do. Like, you could stream the music below and say to yourself, “Sango really puts some chill vibes into the atmosphere.”
And you’d be right.
And right when you were about to say, “I bet experiencing Sango live would be next level,” you notice the flyers on this post and go, “Oh sh!t…I can catch Sango live TONIGHT!”
And you’d be right. See you there!
Shout out to the good folks at WERC, AB+L Radio and So High On Life for putting this on and putting us down.
Cam Newton’s ‘Huddle Up’ (Episode 1) [Documentary]
Cool Cam Newton documentary. Covering mostly his moves in the off-season. Behind the scenes, rehab, return to his Auburn University stomping grounds (to go back to school mainly). Great stuff. All part of his story as told by the Huddle Up series from Greenlight Productions and sports clothier Under Armour.
This is just the first episode. Catch all the upcoming episodes as they are released at the Under Armour site.
Lecrae – “All I Need Is You”
To say this is Lecrae’s latest, entitled “All I Need Is You,” would be simplistic but true. And we would miss a fundamental shift in the music buying base at iTunes. This jawn (you listen and judge, but I think it’s cool) is music by a professed Christian artist (or emcee-who-happens-to-be-Christian… either way) that went number 1 on iTunes. Lecrae’s LP “Anomaly” (due out September 9, 2014) is just that apparently; what could be called gospel Hip-Hop going to the top in a non-gospel category. Go look for yourself via the iTunes pre-order link (and stream the single) below. Give it a listen.
Devin The Dude Featuring Scarface, Slim Thug And Paul Wall On His Show (Video)
Did you think this might be a new Devin The Dude song and/or video? Nah, this is ‘The Devin the Dude Show’ with guests Scarface above in part 1; and Slim Thug and Paul Wall in parts 2 and 3 after the jump. For real. Snoop can host GGN shows and music video countdowns, right? So… now it’s Devin’s turn. Guests share views on today’s music, how they came up (in music and life)… good talk… and yes, where there is smoke, Devin got that fi-yaaah!

Kobe Bryant vs. Michael Jordan: Move For Move (Video)
Okay, direct comparisons aside, have you ever directly compared Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan… move for move?
“Can’t we just agree that these guys are like phenomenal players and just move on?”
Nope! We gotta watch this cool montage of videos showing each mega-baller doing the same moves the same way; and appreciate NBA greatness mirroring NBA greatness!
Rah Digga – “I Ain’t Neva Lied” (Produced By The Lab Ratz)
Songs just sittin around…time to let em go…
– Rah Digga
Well, let them sh!ts go then, Ma! “I Ain’t Neva Lied” is apparently what Rah would call easy work. But still the good stuff. Banging beat with live lyrics. Just right for the site. No real info out there on any project this’ll be a part of. But hey, Sean Price has been dropping all kinds of loosies lately. Maybe we ought to chill and let the lady bless us like this. Enjoy.
VICE: Women And The Men’s Rights Movement (Video)
Interesting considering child support, domestic violence, & other issues. This VICE expo on the Men’s Rights Movement (MRM) takes a slant that, perhaps until this visual presentation, that we haven’t given serious audience to.
No allegations of rape levied against women who take advantage of drunk men for sex (whew, you can imagine how hard it was to not put take advantage in quotes)… men’s only draft registration, lack of a birth control pill for men… in this age of equality. Is any of this fair in our modern era? Has the pendulum swung to far, or not far enough? The video above may make you think… both. Too far, shifting power/privilege too much from men to women; social positioning for men being weakened so much so that they have to fight (like women have historically) for fairness. AND not far enough, as (taking the stance of this vid) we may not have actually moved very far along the spectrum of unfairness to fairness – with men as a class suffering oppression way more than women in lots of situations.
Consider this: In America, we are pursuing justice and protections for female victims of assault, but what about such for the accused assailant? Didn’t we slam the prison door shut (so to speak) on an athlete that dragged his unconscious fiancee-now-wife from an elevator yet make many, MANY meme pics and spoof videos themed around Jay Z taking many, many blows from Solange. With lots of under-breath commentary hinting that Jigga probably said/did something to provoke the wig out? WHAT? Well, who stands to say, “Hey, why would Ray Rice get that physical with Janay? Was he attacked first?” Hmmm… How can we even ask that of such a big strong football player who could ‘stop her’ without hurting her? Yeah, Ray being assaulted is too ridiculous to consider. But is it really? Discuss…
So… how can we orient the fairness pendulum’s swing back toward a position that allows balance; that gives serious consideration for the man’s rights (like to defend or even escalate, per the example discussed above, for instance)? Maybe it takes extreme measures like what the MRM is employing in its blogs and publications to put forth A Voice For Men (AVFM). So many layers to this onion. VICE starts peel them.
If you won’t hear men’s pain, you will eventually hear their anger.
– Paul Elam, MRM Founder
Watch the VICE video (focusing the lens on the women who support and advocate for the MRM). They’ve done it again.
Opinion: Neil deGrasse Tyson Responds To Uproar About His GMO Comments
Well, well. Looks like a lot more folks than me took issue with astrophysicist, Cosmos host and science celeb Neil deGrasse Tyson the other day (see my post here). Given such, Tyson responds to the controversy. Ha! Doesn’t he do that every other day? This time, he responds to the masses of people (pointing to myself) who took issue with some or all of what he said in his widely publicized and criticized “chill out” commentary on blanket opposition to GMO.
His response, in sum… was, ‘Yeah, what I said was right.’ BUT… the way he rebutted the rebuttals is why Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson continues to be one of my ‘you should really LISTEN to this’ guys. And while I must give a shout out to Raw Story (on whose posts I have based my posts here on; because they showed in my stream, even though I follow Dr. Tyson directly on Facebook)
… I am going for the raw feed from the Facebook post of the man himself. Your response to the world’s responses to your response, Dr. Tyson?
In life, be cautious of how broad is the brush with which you paint the views of those you don’t agree with.
Respectfully Submitted
Boom! Dr. Tyson has spoken. Now, let me speak.
You know, reflecting on my last post, it was the “chill out” part that prompted me to do the writeup. So, no issue remains there. And, though its content-lifting was done responsibly for the most part, I got my information second-hand when first-hand content was available. Other bloggers’ Facebook posts have so drowned out Tyson’s that I had to Google his direct response from his Facebook wall (which I should have done before anyway). This is part my striving to be a responsible blogger. Why does that matter? Maybe it doesn’t so much. But how does reading “Neil deGrasse Tyson: GMO producers ‘ought to be able to make as much money as they can’” make YOU want to respond? Yeah, me, too; and Tyson’s response wasn’t really all about that. So I smack my own forehead and admonish myself and all: Get your story from the teller’s mouth, people. That’s another lesson I re-learned.
That said. I’m STILL chill, and there are parts of the GMO push with which I do not agree. But I will keep in mind that my brush and strokes against the GMO work on display should be small and specific. In that, my response is, in sum… ‘Yeah, what I said was right’ (too).
Kudos, NDTyson. Respect due and given.
(Heh, heh… Just realized that Dr. Tyson considers a two-minute response brief. Imagine a casual convo with the brother. Gotta love intellectuals…)

Daytona – joined by N.O.R.E. and Chris Rivers – on a remix of “Type Ish†produced by Harry Fraud produced is that dope (score for Daytona); and it’s a dope way for Rivers (Big Pun’s son) to amass even more Hip-Hop respect and love. Nice! Cop this cut ASAP for the F-R-E-E (e.g. FREE download below).

Katt Williams Says Dave Chappelle ‘Was Decapitated In Front Of Us’ (Video)
“I’ve always been aware of who’s funnier than me. I’ve just also been aware of who wasn’t.”
– Katt Williams
Ohhhhh. Ding ding ding! Love him or hate him, Katt has something to say…always. And whenever he wants to speak, he’s never scared to speak up. Listening to his ‘Dave Chappelle was DECAPITATED in front of us’ testimony above makes me reconsider the positioning of Katt’s brand of ‘crazy’ in my mind (newsflash: we’re ALL crazy; you just gotta find folks who like your brand of crazy and call ’em friends). Makes sense. VLAD TV scored with this interview clip.

Saint Millie – “Glory” (Prod. By The Gift) [Video]
Saint Millie releases the official video for his single “Glory” (produced by The Gift). Space-time-mind bending visuals backed by Teedra Moses samples all brought together in this APJ Films visual presentation. Been feeling Hip-Hop since sixth grade, but a career for Westside Chicago artist Saint Millie really started with his founding of the ‘Chvrch Music’ movement, and the dropping of his first solo project, “No Religion But Up.” Saint Millie’s flow resembles early 90’s era Hip-Hop with his own signature futuristic twists.

Jonwayne – “No”
“Stop frontin’ …and start backin’ me.”
– Jonwayne
So, I was checking (and jacking) Bad Magics (my people) for dope sounds and came across that Jonwayne-produced “America The Beautiful” by Homeboy Sandman. I let SoundCloud keep playing suggested jams while composing my Sandman post, and this Jonwayne jawn hit my eardrum hard. His cut is titled “No” but after listening, you’ll give it a thumbs up I’ll wager. Don’t know much about Stones Throw’s West Coast producer/emcee Jonwayne cat but it sounds pretty dope. What I’ve found, I’ll put after the jump.

Iron Man Fan Creates A Life-Size & Wearable Suit [Video]
A life-size Iron Man suit with eyes that light up like in the movies? Go on…
Welsh hobbyist (and uber-Iron Man fan) Peter Mitchell, used his engineering skills to construct something quite remarkable.
Totaling about £450 (about $760 US) in materials, Mitchell admits that due to hours (about a year’s worth) of hard work it took to create the suit, a real cost estimate would be a huge challenge to produce. Let’s call it priceless, and let that hardworking man have his moment.
Pete Rock – “James Brown Tribute†(Mixtape)

Sports: Why Would Shannon Briggs ‘Attack’ Boxing Champ Wladimir Klitschko? (Video)
Watch… Looks staged. But it’s okay. As long as it’s entertaining… “Have some water” (bwaaaahahahaaa).
I know what the video was ‘meant to show’ but I put dots together differently. Truth: We have had no real reason to get hyped about the heavyweight division in quite some time. But… Shannon Briggs? Last fight I saw him in was against Jason Statham in one of the “Transporter” movies. Even Statham has moved on.
But boxing history holds that the ring retires great fighters, especially heavyweights. In other words, a fighter keeps fighting until someone throws him a bonafide can’t-be-denied azz whuppin in the squared circle. Sure, every now and then you get a Lennox Lewis, who retires on high; but most heavyweights who were on top either fight in relative obscurity OR they had that one ‘ewww daaamn someone oughta stop this’ match (ex: Ali v. Holmes, Tyson v. Lewis… and Hollyfield should have been “retired” by the two that Lewis gave him).
To his credit, I don’t think Shannon got his “retirement whuppin” … but this hounding for the champ’s attention is long after what would be considered his career peak. Now, George Foreman had two careers, in essence; winning the title again well after what most would say was his prime. BUT even he had some “retirement” (once from Ali, sorta) and another from Axel Schulz, an German bruiser who was declared the loser that night even after knotting Foreman’s eye so high his shades rose off his face.
Perhaps the Klitschkos (Wladimir and Vitali work as a unit) deserve to work the game as a weakened division and early politics kept them out for a bit. Some (pointing at myself) say Lewis got away with murder …with a VERY controversial win over Vitali (watch the proof here for a few seconds) back in the day and retired without making it right. Maybe the Klitschkos feel justified in leaving like Lennox Lewis, still pretty, pretty healthy, and pretty much in a sound state of mind.
Oooh, @ojones1 are you saying this Briggs rah-rah is a set up to fuel promo for a title fight with he and Wladimir INSTEAD of facing true contenders? Well…I wrote it, huh? Guess I threw the brick. Can’t hide my hand now… It follows that someone would ask/blurt, “Well, who are these so-called contenders, O?” I’m glad you asked, me-acting-like-someone-asking-me-a-question… Allow me to quote Bleacher Report in my response:
“I think so,†said Jennings. “But I can’t do it alone. Trust me. I can’t do it alone. I’m one of the guys. I think that it’s just going to take more than one guy.†Jennings said he and fellow undefeated prospect Deontay Wilder were probably the two most exciting heavyweights in America right now, to go along with the United Kingdom’s Tyson Fury. He said a group of guys like that, which might include other fighters who have yet to emerge, could make the heavyweight division real exciting.
– Bleacher Report
AND Wilder has whupped MUCH azz (29-0, ALL KNOCKOUTS)… AND Wilder is from Tuscaloosa (where we make champions, Roll Tide)… AND Bleacher isn’t even touting him in the above writeup.
Yeah, there are more worthy fights to be made than Briggs v. Klitschko. So I say good try to this ‘smoke screen.’ But I don’t care wither way. For one, no one cares about the heavyweight division now (maybe that’ll change, but not now). But second, I like Pro Wrestling… and this ‘drama’ outside the ring leading to a pay-per-view showdown in the ring… works for me!
So… Who’s bringing the folding chairs? Gotta hit somebody with a folding chair to make it a pay per view, right?

Daaaaamn! T-Pain wildin’ (hope that money’s pilin’)! I mean… What man doesn’t like going to strip clubs every now & then to have a drink with friends? But even a multi-multi-millionaire or even a billionaire has gotta say to himself, “There’s no way to make sense of spending millions of my dollars in strip clubs! I gotta chill.” And what about buddies? Ain’t no other ballers rolling with him to throw some piles on all them azz taxes? And what about wifey? Pain said she likes to go, too. Cool; no doubt, very cool. But ya gotta wonder if she ever nudged her man on some save-some-for-Mami’s-g-string *ish. Hmmm, wifey’s a cutie (see after the jump). Wonder where she’d fit on the Universal Hot-Crazy Matrix?
