Dave Chappelle ‘Sanely’ Walked Away From A Big Money Deal When Everyone Thought He Was Insane (Video)

This is wonderful. The full circle of Dave Chappelle’s life. Walking away from millions and millions of dollars, when you understand it was because he was doing what was right… for him, is the SANEST thing Dave could have done back in the day. And doing such is not a new thing to his family. For generations, since his Great Grandfather, Dave’s family history is rife with stories of folks doing what’s right; with the bigger picture in mind.

David Chappelle is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer, best known for his satirical comedy sketch series Chappelle’s Show (2003 – 2006). Chappelle is the recipient of numerous accolades, including two Emmy Awards and three Grammy Awards as well as a Mark Twain Prize. Dave Chappelle is renowned for his ability to point out the underlying truths in society and bring humor to serious issues.

We have shared this particular story from Dave before. But I like the way it is ‘remixed’ here.

Dave Chappelle Speaks On Ethics And The Relevance Of What He Did NOT Do (Video)

What was that? You wish there was more Dave Chappelle content posted on here? Well, what a coincidence 😉

In a rare interview, comedian Dave Chappelle tells “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King about why he is connecting with a part of his family history at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. His great-grandfather, Bishop William David Chappelle, was a former President at the University.

Comedians Dave Chappelle And Jon Stewart Speak On The Era Of President Trump And Their Comedy (Video)

Two of the most brilliantly funny and thoughtful comedians ever – Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart – sit down with one of the best news commentators today, Christiane Amanpour. Score for CNN… and for us all.

(And Dave says we should NOT consider this the ‘Trump Era’ as he is not worthy and we don’t deserve that. Point taken. Good one.)

Speech: Dave Chappelle Accepts Harvard’s WEB DuBois Honor (Video)

That’s what makes us Chappelles great… WE KNOW WHEN TO QUIT!

Not before at least ONE more standup special though. He said so above.

In general, more Dave Cha-P please. Indeed! Check out the full stream of his acceptance speech for an award from Harvard. GREAT speech! Great introduction, too.

And just LOOK at the folks Dave is on stage with. WOW! Some awesome company.

Politics: Dave Chappelle Speaks On Kanye West And President Trump (Video)

I’m not mad at Kanye. That’s my brother. I love him… I don’t have to agree with everything he says…
Dave Chappelle

The REALEST talk while still keeping some of the funny in there. We’ve come to expect that from Dave Chappelle. Gotta imagine he has some empathy for an artist who the world has called ‘crazy’ (since he has been there himself).

Comedian Dave Chappelle and Maryland democratic gubernatorial candidate Ben Jealous discuss the political divide in the US since President Trump was elected president with CNN’s Van Jones.

Great interview clip! Very thoughtful conversation.

“A Star is Born” stars Bradley Cooper (“American Sniper,” “American Hustle,” the “A-Team” movie) and pop music superstar Lady Gaga, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper also directs. In this tragic love story, Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (played by Gaga). The characters start building a relationship, but as Ally’s career takes off, the relationship starts breaking down, as Jack fights his inner demons.

Dave Chappelle On A Low Country ‘Ride With Norman Reedus’ (Video)

Alright, that’s gangsta.
Dave Chappelle

I’m a fan and faithful watcher of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” but I have not made time to watch an ep. of star Norman Reedus’ show, “Ride,” yet. This one featuring Dave Chappelle looks like a great one to start with. Dave and Norman are already cool (and funny) in their own rights. But together – getting into some good food and great stops & historical sites – they go for a ride on a higher level.

Enjoy the clip above and the one after the jump. And here is the link to the full episode (need a subscription to watch).

Dave Chappelle And John Mayer’s On-Stage Tribute To Charlie Murphy (RIP) [Video]

Wow. Dave Chappelle surprises the crowd at a John Mayer concert and this happens. Yep, the ‘White People Dancing’ tag team from Chappelle Show, Season 2, Episode 3, reunites one more time… and do a tribute for Charlie Murphy (say it like Dave doing ‘Rick James’ b!tch in your head), who the world recently lost after his prolonged battle with lukemia.

Yeah, Dave Chappelle and John Mayer chat, share a couple of chuckles and make a memory for Murphy that they share with the crowd.

Dave Chappelle (Netflix Teaser)

Was up late, as usual, and caught an old rerun of The Chappelle Show. Dave Chappelle is a fool! Remembered that he had something coming up on Netflix. And now… this trailer.

Throwback: Dave Chappelle In This 1990 ‘Spread The Word – High School HIV/AIDS’ Public Service Announcement (Video)

Okay, stop giggling. Dave really meant this. Trying to get down with a serious work on a serious topic. Thinking about where he was in his career when this came out, let’s say he succeeded on several fronts. Eventually finding his comedic lane to ride gave him a bigger voice for a much larger audience; but this shows that the actor/comedian already had a mind to say something of substance before he really got on. Watch.

Okay “Control Your Jimmy” is funny… but don’t bag on the man’s skills. You see he is not rapping today.

Katt Williams Says Dave Chappelle ‘Was Decapitated In Front Of Us’ (Video)

“I’ve always been aware of who’s funnier than me. I’ve just also been aware of who wasn’t.”
Katt Williams

Ohhhhh. Ding ding ding! Love him or hate him, Katt has something to say…always. And whenever he wants to speak, he’s never scared to speak up. Listening to his ‘Dave Chappelle was DECAPITATED in front of us’ testimony above makes me reconsider the positioning of Katt’s brand of ‘crazy’ in my mind (newsflash: we’re ALL crazy; you just gotta find folks who like your brand of crazy and call ’em friends). Makes sense. VLAD TV scored with this interview clip.

Dave Chappelle Talks about His first Encounter with ‘The Roots’, Meeting Rising Star Kanye West, Upcoming Shows And More (Video)

Hahaaa! She thought Dave Chappelle was ‘a lost Root.’ Hearing Chappelle’s new stories about back-in-the-day stuff lets us know he’s still got plenty in the comedic tank. And it’s so effortless for him. The whole ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon clip is funny, but don’t be drinking anything when you’re playing the part about Dave’s first encounter with Kanye in the latter portion of the above clip.

Fair warning…

(More footage, from the top of the interview, after the jump.)

Dave Chappelle Speaks On Turning Down $50 Million, Bouncing Back From Extreme Adversity & More On ‘Late Night With David Letterman’ (Video)

Great clip! Great insights (and laughs). Give it the full 15 minutes of your attention. As David Letterman interviews comedian/actor Dave Chappelle, the two discuss his sudden, astounding, and costly ($50 million he walked away from…50…MILLION) resignation from his Comedy Central show years ago, his memory of a horrible standup experience at Radio City Music Hall (opening for Aretha Franklin) at 19, family life and more.

“Of course I would like to have that money. When you quit, my friends’ll try and make me feel better but no one’s been through that so they’ll say stupid stuff – not stupid stuff, it’s nice – ‘Well, you know what Dave, at the end of the day, you still have your integrity.’ Yeah, that’s great. I’ll go home and make the kids some integrity sandwiches.”
