Christina Aguilera Sings ‘At Last’ at Etta James Funeral (Video)

The legendary Etta James was laid to rest in Los Angeles after losing her battle with luekemia on January 20th. One of the attendees at her funeral was Christina Aguilera who performed the Etta James classic “At Last”. She did a very good job here & I’d say she’s one of the very few performers of this generation who could pull it off. I’m sure Etta James would be proud.

DJ Whoo Kid Speaks on Possibly Being The Cause Of Kanye West’s Near Fatal Car Accident (Video)

DJ Whoo Kid speaks with ThisIs50’s Jack Thriller about the day that Kanye West got into his near fatal car accident in L.A. back in 2002 that inspired Yeezy’s hit song “Through The Wire.” Regrettably or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, DJ Whoo Kid says his actions towards Kanye may have caused the incident that set off a chain of events that marked the beginning of the rise of Kanye’s career.

Clear Soul Forces – “Get No Better” (Video)

The young Detroit homies Clear Soul Forces dropped a new video that I wasn’t even aware of until I saw it zip around on twitter via retweets. Especially fueled by actor Idris Elba’s twitter praise of their work. Good to see the brothers still grinding it out for as talented as they are. I had them on the radio show several months back & they basically gassed up their whip & drove to Atlanta for the interview. That’s dedication for that ass. They are definitely one of the motor city’s finest on the rise & should win with that type of grind. This is the first single off their upcoming album “Detroit Revolution(s)” due March 13th & this particular & single was produced by KanKick. The video was Directed by Richard Taylor.

Snoop Dogg Tells Wild Party Story While at The Playboy Mansion (Video)

Everybody should know by now that Snoop Dogg is a straight up O.G. playa playa so I’m positive there’s 100s of stories of groupies & other shenanigans that have popped off over the years. Check out this video from Vice & Project X’s “Party Legends” series where they re-create stories from celebrities they’ve interviewed who are notorious for having wild party pasts…..

Lyriciss – “Get It & Go” (Video)

This is a dope joint that I’ve rewinded back more than a few times on the Beatz & Lyrics Show from D.C’s son in rhyme better known as Lyriciss. This “Get It & Go” joint produced by Soulful! & off of his “The Balance EP: Money” gets the visual treatment & I’m not mad at this joint right chea….

Boog Brown – “Baby Girl” V1&2 (Prod. By Georgia Anne Muldrow)

Boog Brown has released her first ever vinyl 7″ as part of Mello Music’s new monthly series. The record features 2 songs produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow. The first “My Love Remix” was featured on Boog’s “Brown Study Remixes” album, but the B-Side is a previously unreleased track that Georgia laid the soundscape for under the title “Baby Girl”. The 7″ vinyl series is limited to just 300 copies of each edition! To give listeners a taste, Boog & MMG are giving away for free the B-Side track “Baby Girl” along with a second version of “Baby Girl” – both produced by Georgia Anne Muldrow.

Kevin Garnett’s Crazy Post Game ‘Bar Fight’ Interview (Video)

Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett & his squad, minus Rajon Rondo & Ray Allen, won a wild game last night over the Orlando Magic after being down by 27 points. The boys in Beantown overcame the Orlando Magic 91-83 & “KG” was so amped up that by the time he got to Craig Sager for an interview he damn near started speaking in tongues about “Bar Fights” & even added that Charles Barkley knows about Bar Fights! Hahahaaaa! Hilarious!

Chuuwee – “Watching The Throne” (Video)

Sacramento emcee Chuuwee is definitely one of the young newcomers in Hip Hop that I’m definitely keeping an eye on. I’m looking forward to his upcoming show in Atlanta so I can peep his live stage performance. I’m hoping to be as impressed with his live performance as I was with his “Watching The Throne” street album.  I even banged out several key songs like “Dolla Bill Cosby”, “Cold World”, & “Trappist Monk” from the project on the Beatz & Lyrics Show regularly. Check out this second video & title track from the album & if you’re still sleeping go on ahead & download the free album at the link below…

Carl Thomas – “Don’t Kiss Me” feat. Snoop Dogg (Video)

I was just telling people on twitter last month that the new album “Conquer” from R&B soul singer Carl Thomas has some great gems on the project. “Long Distance Love Affair”, “Sweet Love”, “Round Two”, & “Don’t Kiss Me” are the key tracks that stood out to me.  This joint “Don’t Kiss Me” featuring Snoop Dogg is definitely one of those gems & apparently the former Bad Boy artist’s team felt the same way about the song enough for them to shoot this video…

8Ball & MJG Feat Big K.R.I.T- “We Buy Gold”

“We Buy Gold” is the definition “Southern Playalistic Cadillac Funky Music”, if you didn’t already know. You can hop in your car with this playing and ride off your last $4 in gas and not flinch ,this joint is that smooth. Big K.R.I.T cooks up a very melodic beat that meshes perfectly with legendary Memphis emcee’s 8Ball and MGJ, who lyrics encompasses laid back life in the South. With a lot of the focus on very big sounding crunk style beats, Southern Hip Hop needs more of this type of music, and hopefully this is a sign of us getting it soon.

Saigon – “Hungry” (Video)

Many Hip Hop artists throw around typical cliche sayings like “I’m going in” or “I’m hungry” (amongst other things) quite frequently. However Hip Hop is more than talk, its show and prove, and Saigon is doing just that, by eating any beat that has been thrown his way.  Here are the visuals to the Sire produced “Hungry” from his Warning Shots 3:One Foot in the Grave mixtape. The Yardfather is letting it be known that any wack emcee can get ate (figuratively and literally apparently).  Am I the only one thinking Hannibal Lectre??? Anyway, parallels between Sai-Giddy and the brilliant psychiatrist/cannibalistic serial killer aside, this is a dope jam. Enjoy!!

D’Angelo Performs First Live Show in 11 Years (Video)

The soulful voice behind classic albums Brown Sugar and Voodoo seems to be finally back after an 11 year hiatus. Even though D’Angelo’s absence had much more to do with personal troubles than lack of musical inspiration,it looks like the good brother is back on the right track. He was spotted at Filadelfiakyrkan in Stockholm, Sweden performing new joints along with classic joints like “Chicken Grease” and “Shit, Damn, Motherfucker” to a lively crowd, with the energy and passion that we grown accustomed to from D’Angelo. I also see the homie Kendra Foster doing her thing signing background!! No word on an album just yet, but things are looking up. We need you D!!!
