Phonte Releasing Debut Solo Album With 9th Wonder Serving As One Of The Key Producers

The folks over at The Urban Daily caught up with Phonte & 9th Wonder for an interview & they delivered some great news that many fans had been anticipating. Not only have the two reconciled their differences, but Phonte says that 9th Wonder will be contributing the majority of the tracks for the album as he’ll be responsible for the albums overall direction in terms of the sound. Phonte says he randomly chose September 13th as the release date for his solo project which coincidentally was the release date of the Minstrel Show which was the last Little Brother album the released together six years ago. Check out the interview HERE

Elzhi’s Highly Anticipated Project ‘Elmatic’ To Be Released May 10th

Out of the thousands of mixtapes & albums due to be released, this is one project that I’ve been waiting & looking forward to for quite some time now. To me Elzhi, formerly of Slum Village, is Detroit’s version of Nas. He is grossly underrated & when he first announced that he was doing a mixtape project inspired by Nas’s classic ‘illmatic’ album I knew he was best suited to represent well. Until May 10th arrives I’ll leave y’all with a few Elzhi joints that I still bang out on the ipod to hold y’all over…..

The staff at XXL are starting to put artists I respect on their front covers as of late. I wasn’t upset with the Freshmen 2011 cover when that dropped because I could understand what they were doing with it in terms of the balance amongst the newcomers. I wasn’t mad at the SlaughterHouse, Yelawolf, & Eminem cover & now the folks over there at XXL keeps the integrity going by placing the West Side Chicago kid on the cover for May 2011. Not mad at this one either…..

Legendary DJ ‘Mister Cee’ Alleged Arrest For Public Lewdness In Gay Sex Act With A Male Prostitute

I recall radio show host Wendy Williams calling Mr. Cee out on air years ago for alleged bisexual behavior with trannies & when I heard this story immediately I thought of her allegations from a few years back. I even had the audio of that allegation & I’m scrambling to find it at the moment. Here’s what’s being said from a few sources….
“Although some bloggers are claiming the story is a hoax, the New York court system’s web site confirms that Calvin Lebrun aka DJ Mister Cee was arrested last week on charges of public lewdness. Evidently DJ Mister Cee, who works for New York City’s Hot 97, was picked up for having sex with another 20-year-old man in public. The two men were evidently arrested in Manhattan’s West Village, an area known by police where men participate in gay sex in public. Cops say they caught the younger man performing oral sex on DJ Mister Cee at Watt and West Streets. ”
