The legend of Michael Jackson lives, in all facets, through things like this interview; animated for and presented by PBS’ Blank On Blank series. And part of his legend, is the well-known quirkiness inherent in in-person interaction with the King Of Pop. Even before “Thriller,” MJJ had his rules… like don’t stare or look him directly in the eyes. The rule/directive for this interview: Michael only talks to his sister Janet. So the interviewer, John Pidgeon, had to ask his questions to then 13-year old Janet Jackson who then relayed them to Michael.

I got wind of this from Dayne Jordan himself. He let me know he released a new song…“LOST.” I checked for it on his site. Boom. Doooope!

The visuals for “Checkpoints” probably bring to light what most of us probably know (a reality of which we are informed or numbed enough to no longer fear): a ghetto is a ghetto. And the ghetto (be it in yesteryear Germany; or today’s Gaza or Ferguson) is where the real casualties of war take place. Where we are being killed in government sanctioned ways… oppressive poverty, lacking nutrition and education, youth roaming the streets… unprotected from danger… from those meant to protect and serve… either the government chooses to do something, or chooses NOT to do something, about what’s going on in the ghetto (here or there, now or then; no difference).

If you remember, there was an “Hey Arnold” episode named “Sally’s Comet” and the episode was about a comet that only passes by once every 70 years. Arnold and Gerald couldn’t see the comet though, because too many lights were blocking the view of the night sky.. So, Sky took that concept and made it relate to our world. Most times, people miss out on all that life has to offer because they are burying their faces in lights; cell phones, laptops, video games, etc. There’s nothing wrong with it, but sometimes you have to turn the lights off, if you wanna see the stars. Life is an adventure, go and experience it.
