Lord Jamar Of Brand Nubian Speaks On How The Music Industry Is Pushing A Gay Agenda (Video)

‘Rap is gay-friendly. Rap is rich-friendly… There’s a lot of people with money that happen to be homosexual.’

Lord Jamar (of Brand Nubian)

Wow. Suffice it to say, Lord Jamar speaks his mind. He says rap ‘speaks for the haves, where Hip-Hop speaks for the have-nots.’ Above, the emcee speaks VERY deliberately about the difference between ‘rap’ and ‘Hip-Hop’ and about what Hip-Hop is and is not. He also declares who has the right to say what Hip-Hop is and those who do not. Jamar apparently sees rising music star Macklemore as an avatar for what he’d call the gay agenda in rap. Watch the clip as Lord Jamar speaks (plainly) for himself.

The L.O.X. – ‘Hood Cake’

Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King March 19, 2008 New York City, NYJadakiss, Styles P, & Sheek Louch get busy over the instrumental to Drake & Jay-Z’s popular ‘Pound Cake’ collaboration. I have to admit I like this D-Block version better than the original. D-BLOCK!!!

Drake – “Hold On, We’re Going Home” feat. Majid Jordan (Video)

I haven’t heard Drake’s new album “Nothing Was The Same” yet, but I do know I really dug this particular soulful single called “Hold On, We’re Going Home”. Great choice to release a brand new video for this song.  This mini-movie features cameos from rapper ASAP Rocky as well as actor Steven Bauer who famously starred as Al Pacino’s right hand man “Manolo” in the movie Scarface”. I still dig the song although this mini-movie didn’t fit what I mentally pictured for such a great R&B record.

Talib Kweli – “Turnt Up” [Video]

Take the bassline for Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid In Full” and ‘turn it up’ for 2013. Good idea from Talib Kweli. Producer Trend freaked the beat for “Turnt Up” – the latest single Kweli laced with lyrics for his “Prisoner Of Conscious” LP (out now, linked in our earlier post here). Video Directed By Talib Kweli and Kenzi Sonoda.
