The Narcicyst – “Fly Over Egypt” (Video)

I am not real familiar with The Narcicyst and his music but I ran across this joint and I was instantly intrigued. There is always more room in Hip Hop for dope jams with a greater message, which The Narcicyst tries to present on this track produced by Bei-Ru.The video is dope also, as it captures the many sides of Egypt and its people. I have never been to the Motherland but videos like these gives me the motivation to get there…

Bishop Eddie Long Crowned ‘King’ at New Birth Baptist Church (Video)

I saw people talk about this left & right yesterday about how embattled Atlanta preacher Bishop Eddie Long was recently crowned ‘King’ at New Birth Baptist Church out here in Atlanta. Amidst everything that has been going on with this guy, now he’s crowned “King” by what appears to be a fake Rabbi of some sorts. The video gets really wild around the 7:00 minute mark.

A$AP Rocky Meets Rakim (Video)

Rising Harlem Punk Rap artist A$AP Rocky, who’s mother named him after the God emcee Rakim, was surprised by a recent visit from the “7th letter” while doing an interview up at HOT 97 in NYC with Angie Martinez. The story of how his mother first met Rakim is hilarious as hell too. This was a great video to watch as you can tell the kid was genuinely excited & humbled…

Black Milk – “Don Cornelius”

With the news of the death of the legendary host of Soul Train Don Cornelius, I was immediately reminded of Detroit producer & emcee Black Milk’s song “Don Cornelius” which was leaked on the web back in 2010. The song felt like it wasn’t completely finished, but now would be the time for Black Milk to possibly rearrange the words a little, but the sample & chorus of “Keep Your Lighters Up” would make all the sense in the world. For now let’s rewind this joint back for the Don….. Love, Peace, & Soul!

BLACK MILK – DON CORNELIUS

Soul Train VH1 Documentary (Video)

“Few television series were as innovative and influential as Soul Train. Set first in Chicago, and later in Los Angeles, the Soul Train dance party reached national significance and became the longest running syndicated show in television history. Soul Train: The Hippest Trip In America was a 90 minute documentary celebrating the show’s many contributions to pop culture, music, dance and fashion. From 1970-2006 the series offered a window into the history of Black music, and its charismatic host, Don Cornelius was The Man responsible for a new era in Black expression. A trained journalist, Don created a media empire that provided an outlet for record labels and advertisers to reach a new generation of music fans.

As the epitome of cool, many of his expressions entered the popular American lexicon: “A groove that will make you move real smooth,” “Wishing you Peace, Love and Soul!” The documentary will feature performances and great moments from the show, as well as behind-the-scene stories and memories from the cast and crew. In addition, popular musicians, comics and actors of yesterday and today will comment on growing up with the show and will share their stories of how Soul Train affected their own lives.” – VH1

Soul Train Legend Don Cornelius Found Dead Of Apparent Self-Inflicted Gun Shot Wound

“Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius was found dead at his Sherman Oaks on home Wednesday morning.

Law enforcement sources said police arrived at Cornelius’ home around 4 a.m. He apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing.

The sources said there was no sign of foul play, but the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating.

In a 2010 interview with The Times, he said he was excited about a movie project he was developing about “Soul Train.”

“We’ve been in discussions with several people about getting a movie off the ground. It wouldn’t be the ‘Soul Train’ dance show, it would be more of a biographical look at the project,” he said. “It’s going to be about some of the things that really happened on the show.”

According to a Times article, Cornelius’ “Soul Train” became the longest-running first-run nationally syndicated show in television history, bringing African American music and style to the world for 35 years.

Cornelius stopped hosting the show in 1993, and “Soul Train” ceased production in 2006.” – LA TIMES

Irittable Bowl Syndrone: Bill Maher (Video)

I remember watching Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO when he delivered this editorial entitled ‘The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody but Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass’ which I thought was not only funny but on point like a touchdown pass from Tom Brady. In a nutshell, Bill Maher was making the comparison of how the NFL is just like socialism. It’s covered in detail in Bill Maher’s new book of the same name that’s available now on Amazon, itunes, & other outlets. Fraser Davidson, London-based animator, created this video inspired by Bill Maher’s comparison of the economics of pro football and baseball.
