U.S. President Barack Obama Tries Some Alaskan Salmon With Bear Grylls… And Talks Climate Change (Video)

And now a word from our President: Come to combat climate change. Stay for the wild salmon… with Bear Grylls. Hilarious AND awesome at the same damn time! Watch President Barack Obama grub with Grylls in the great Alaskan wilderness. Be sure to check after the jump for more on the real reason the President was in America’s northernmost state.

(Wow. Hope that bear didn’t come back for that fish though. Or any other wild beast for that matter. Too far up for “Sasquatch”… maybe a Yeti or something.)

President Obama Appears On ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ For The Last Time (Video)

President Barack Obama on The Daily Show Jon Stewart… one more time. He’s been there at the table a few times; but this will be the last, as Stewart is leaving Comedy Central’s late night slot in August. The talk touches on Stewart’s leaving but the time is not wasted: medical care for U.S. veterans, improving government’s service and efficiency, the role of government in general guest last night on The Daily Show for their final chat. That’s just in the clip above. Much more. To see the entire episode and interview, hit the link below.

The ‘F*@k It’ List: President Obama Roasts Himself, Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Joe Biden (Video)

The highlight of this news snip clip: President Obama’s new policy list (not a bucket list; but it rhymes with ‘bucket’). But there’s other good stuff in the brief video compilation, too. It was like the end of a ‘Barack Obama Roast’ at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He got shots in on e’erybody. Haaaaa!

Cornel West: President Obama Doesn’t Belong On Any Shirt With Martin Luther King And Malcolm X (Video)

Well damn. No let up from the man Dr. Cornel West. Outspoken plainly spoken critiques of the current U.S. President from him can be found all over the Internet (like here); so this slant is not new. But go ahead and dash any hope of a for-the-Black overture coming from the people’s PhD for President Barack Obama. Whew. Once again, Democracy Now gives the pundit a platform to speak it how he sees it.

Barack Obama commits war crimes — Somalia, Yemen. He commits war crimes in Pakistan, Afghanistan,” West said. “Martin Luther King Jr. tried to keep a spotlight on war crimes, to keep track of the innocents killed … There is a major clash. That is why I tell my young brothers and sisters when they walk around with their little sweater Martin, Malcolm and Barack Obama, I say, ‘Please. That’s like Coltrane and Sarah Vaughan and Pat Boone. They are a very different tradition.’ We love brother Pat, but he doesn’t belong on that shirt and Barack Obama doesn’t belong on that shirt. Let’s be clear.”

Comedy: Key & Peele – Obama Meet & Greet (Video)

Comedy Central hit comedic gold with the Key & Peele series; especially evident when the show’s duo does its President Obama spoofs. In this one, hey, you just don’t know…is the President gonna give you a handshake or is he gonna tuck it?

(Well… you kinda know… but that ish is still hella hilarious! Watch.)

Judge Mathis: Am I My Brother’s Keeper, Or My Brother’s Killer? (Video)

I have not watched Judge Mathis in quite some time, but this is some quality viewing. Speaking as a representative of The White House My Brother’s Keeper task force, TV judge Greg Mathis packages the problem of more and more Blacks dying at the hands of the authorities neatly; in a manner that is readily understood. He declares that addressing the root causes – lackluster education/training of disenfranchised people AND of cops among them – will not be easy, but it will be necessary. Take a look at the recommendations and personal appeal in Mathis’ video presentation above.

Cornel West & Michael Eric Dyson Express Opposition To President Obama’s Handling Of The Mike Brown Shooting & Protests in Ferguson, Missouri (Video)

Interesting. Let’s synthesize the views of two known call-it-as-they-see-it Black socio-political commentators: Michael Eric Dyson and Dr. Cornel West. We’ll start with Dr. West’s clip (above) because it seems to have more of a yearning for balance and justice in its honest criticism of The President than fire. To be certain, Dyson makes valid points; but in a way that engenders more of a cannot-believe-he-said-that factor. Even though the continuing tragedy whose latest face is Mike Brown’s definitely calls for words that shock.

In the above clip (Dyson’s is after the jump), Dr. West is talking on BBC. Despite the time delay due to overseas videoconferencing, we quickly get to some really good meat for discussion. In response to a posit from the BBC Newsnight correspondent made of the Black leader West:

I’m not a “Black leader.” I’m a lover of Black people… I tell the truth of suffering of poor people, in general; Black people, in particular. What we need now is quality leadership on every level. We don’t need the same kind of every day folk coming through with the market branding, with the names and photo opportunities. We need local, grassroots leaders who have integrity. And the sad thing is we have such low-quality Black leadership in America; so that you get a certain distance from what is actually happening on the ground… in terms of following through. We need a leadership… that brings us into the great legacies of Martin King and others.

Ooh, ooh… now click over to the posts on Talib Kweli’s and J. Cole’s recent responses on what is needed. An affirmative, love-driven response, that has actually doing something rather provide another occasion for empty rhetoric and photo opps from the same ‘leaders.’ Wow. And it also shows a risk inherent in Black people taking control of the narrative, as Kweli declared was necessary: that we do not all will not agree on approaches. There will likely be a contingent that opposes folks we ‘need to be on our side’ (like President Obama and his Attorney General Eric Holder; Black people in high places). There will likely be folks who would prefer Dr. West and Dyson ‘hush now’ and not speak their minds.

Mehhh…no!

What we need is the struggle. W.E.B. DuBois vs. Booker T. Washington…opposing stances vocalized, and Black people move forward. Malcolm X vs. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr...opposing stances vocalized, and Black people move forward. Today, perhaps, we have yet again opportunity for the friction of those sorts to generate that heat energy we need (e.g. so called ‘Obama apologists’ that Dr. West calls out above versus stern steady opposition in the calling out, above and after the jump, by Dr. West and Dyson).

Man. And wait until you see what Dyson says below. Just what was posted earlier. Taking back the narrative, maintaining focus on the core issue – not an assessment of Mike Brown, but of the events leading to and brought up by the tragedy of his being unjustifiably killed. Sure, an assessment of guilt would be called for …in a court of law …if Brown was still alive to stand trial; even posthumously, if anyone (like the police who stand accused of slaying Brown) were ever arrested and indicted.

Get it now? Discuss amongst yourselves. We’ll be here.

He failed to deal with the particular instances not only of Michael Brown — he doesn’t have to deal with Michael Brown. The President said, I don’t want to put my thumb on it too much to weigh the scales of justice. Don’t even talk about Michael Brown. Talk about what led to Michael Brown. Tell us as a nation what happens when festering rage in a community then begins to ignite and then begins to consume not only that community but the people around the nation who are empathetic. So I think The President has a lot more latitude. Does he have opposition? Yes… He’s opposed every step. Don’t use this as an excuse to not speak about race.

President Obama Takes A Walk (Video)

File this under Very Cool! When we talk a walk, it’s good for us. Good for the folks we meet, I suppose. But… watch how these folks light up when President Barack Obama switches it up. Just strolling amongst the citizenry. If this doesn’t make you smile a bit, got bad news for you… you have a case of haterism… terminal… kill yourself.

Nah, don’t. But you will have to deal with knowing that the U.S. President is this loved.

The President was heading over to the nearby Department of the Interior and decided to break with tradition and take a Springtime walk. On the way, he got a chance to meet with all sorts of folks, who weren’t expecting to meet the President of the United States of America.

President Obama Does ‘Spot On’ Richard Sherman Rant at The White House Correspondents Dinner (Video)

To some it was funny. To others the epitome of athletic amplitude. However you viewed it, peep after the jump to view it again… for a frame of reference. Because above, the POTUS (e.g. President Obama) does a Richard Sherman (outspoken Seattle Seahawks cornerback) jokey-joke that lands! Pretty funny, Mr. President. Even Richard thought so.

Comedy: President Barack Obama Gets ‘Between Two Ferns’ With Zach Galifianakis (Video)

“If I ran a third time, it’d be sort of like doing a third Hangover movie. It didn’t really work out very well, did it?”

President Barack Obama

Oh Snap! Yes, the real President Obama – not an impersonator – appeared on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. Usually it’s Zach making guests squirm and getting the overall upper hand; but not on the man Obama. The way this episode came off is nothing short of hilarious! The Prez even got in a plug for Healthcare.gov.

“Welcome to the White House. Actually, for these guys, it’s welcome back to the White House.”
President Barack Obama

The Miami Heat visited the White House for 2nd consecutive year. A two-time winner in his own right, watch President Obama’s full speech welcoming the champion basketballers back above.

Dr. Cornel West Speaks On Failures Of President Obama & Apathy In The Black Middle Class (Video)

George Zimmerman is a criminal. President Obama is a “global George Zimmerman” because he tries to rationalize the killing of innocent children…in the name of self defense…Pakistan, Somolia, Yemen.’

Dr. Cornell West

Well, damn. By now it is no secret that Dr. Cornell West is an outspoken critic of President Obama. He is not ‘holding his breath’ waiting for The U.S. President and Attorney General Eric Holder to ‘come through’ at the Federal Level on justice for Trayvon Martin or with regard to decriminalizing poor Black and Brown people. In the above video, West calls for people to get off the ‘Obama Plantation’… and that is not nearly the most scathing of his remarks. You’ve GOT to watch this!

Lupe Fiasco Disses Obama & Kicked Off Stage at Inauguration Day Event (Video)

Okay… that happened. Never one to bite his tongue, above is video of the shot [at President Barack Obama at an Inauguration concert event] heard around the world [and the Internet] taken by Lupe Fisaco. Here below, the words of the Fiasco (pun intended):

‘Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist. Gaza strip was getting bombed. Obama didn’t say sh*t. That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either.’

Yep. That’ll get you kicked off the stage at an Obama Inauguration event… every time. Reports are that Lupe spent nearly half an hour on one song without moving on during the show, too. That wouldn’t help things either.

Right to free speech exercised… with consequences. Wonder if he got his bread?

Stephen Colbert Offers His Own ‘Ballsy’ Challenge To Donald Trump (Video)

By now, you’ve probably heard (and seen video) of Donald Trump’s challenge to Barack Obama: $5 million to any charity the President chooses IF he surrenders his passport and academic records for review by 5 PM on October 31, 2012. Mr. Trump says he will THEN be satisfied.

Well, on The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert issued a counter-challenge to Mr. Trump: $1 million to let him have the satisfaction of ‘dipping his balls’ in Mr. Trump’s mouth! Bwaaahhhaaahahahahahahaaaaa! Do it, Stephen. Put ’em in his mouuutthhhhh!

Hey… it’s for charity. And remember, Mr. Trump, it’s not polite to talk with your mouth full.

Politics/Comedy: Jon Stewart Calls Bullsh** on Paul Ryan’s Budget Plan (Video)

Trust them. Republican candidates for U.S. President and Vice President, former Governor Mitt Romney and Representative Paul Ryan, have a budget plan. What’s that? You want details and numbers? Come on, we don’t have time for them to explain his numbers. Just trust that Mr. Ryan has run them, and they are sound. Sound good?

Well, on The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart more than implied that that sounds… smells… like BULL-to-the-SHI… er… MALARKEY (as Vice President Joe Biden said)! Do you, American citizen, trust – without any disclosure or independent review of the numbers – that the Romney/Ryan budget will do all that they promise? DON’T! Take a lesson from history… and the video above.
