All Eyez On Me (New Trailer)
We posted on it last year. But then, the Tupac Shakur biopic was a year or so away. Now we are months away from the “All Eyez On Me” film release. Here’s the latest trailer for the film.
Crazy Like That Glue: The Craig Mack Story (Documentary)
Heads know that Notorious B.I.G. hit hard in the mid-90s and Bad Boy Records was knocking the competiton out the damn ring! Okay, but heads who really know know that there was another emcee that was right there, that was the first, the premiere artist that was actually supposed to be the Bad Boy standard bearer… the one they call Craig Mack! You remember “Flava In Ya Ear” was the business! But somehow business got eff’d up along the way.
This Craig Mack documentary tells us how, and how “Crazy Like That Glue” things really came to be. You know, heads are probably wondering, “Whatever happened to Craig Mack anyway?”
This doc covers that, too. Fascinating viewing. If you pay close enough attention, you’ll probably be as intrigued by folks who had NOTHING to say in this as you’ll be by what folks appearing in the doc had to say. Go on, settle in, and press play.
(Film produced by James Billings.)

Prison Fighters (Showtime Documentary Trailer)
‘Prisoners turn Muy Thai fighters to fight for their freedom’ definitely reads like a logline for a hit series. We assure you, it is not. Think more like ring announcer Jimmy Lennon shouting, “It’s SHOWTIME!” And you will be much closer to truth.
PRISON FIGHTERS: 5 Rounds To Freedom uncovers a shocking practice of liberation in the criminal justice system of Thailand. The SHOWTIME Sports original production examines a fully sanctioned and accredited rehabilitation program called Prison Fight through which convicted criminals can train and compete in fights that lead to early release. Premieres on Friday, Feb. 24 at 8:30PM ET/PT on SHOWTIME.
Star Wars: Exile (Episode 1) [Fan Film]
HOOOOOOLY SHEEEEIT! This is a FAN film? Damn. Almost makes us feel bad for just buying tickets and renting these jawns and letting the movie producers & directors do what they do.
Almost… See, you have to have a George Lucas type to inspire a Pokey Spears & Noel Braham work of art like this. Enjoy!
(And that gorgeous Georginna Savoye… Mercy! May The Force Be Us. The JayForce.com is definitely be with her.)
Africa’s Great Civilizations (Documentary Series Trailer)
#AfricasCivilizationsPBS premieres February 27 on @PBS. Will you be watching? pic.twitter.com/zAQ60ctWRr
— Henry Louis Gates Jr (@HenryLouisGates) January 16, 2017
It’s February. Black History Month to those who want to celebrate it as that. But since we make history every month, and we predate history, let’s go with the LOVE theme (not even waiting until the 14th *wink*).
So, on everything we LOVE, the late author & renaissance man Dr. Henry Louis Gates is at bringing us this POWERFUL docu-series on “Africa’s Great Civilizations.†Stirring, speaking truth for the ages… A must-watch when it drops Monday, February 27th on PBS. Peep the trailer above.
(And don’t let “them”… any “them” tell you YOUR history. “They” should not determine YOUR place in the universe. YOU should!)
Lowriders (Trailer)
You know how folks talk about a flick being a ‘coming of age’ movie? This feels more like a ‘coming of CULTURE’ joint. Getting screamed on for ignoring your roots (that elders speak of that you know little about and have never ‘seen’), cursed for creating art from your heart, the passion and defiance of youth… wow. You get it before you ‘get it,’ right? Truth is, I know very little about “Lowriders.” But if I look at this from where I stand, standing on what I know, there is way more than a little bit of Hip-Hop’s cultural underpinnings here.
“Lowriders†is set against the vibrant backdrop of East LA’s near-spiritual car culture and follows the story of Danny, a talented young street artist caught between the lowrider world inhabited by his old-school father and ex-con brother, and the adrenaline-fueled outlet that defines his self-expression.
Watch the trailer. Watch again. This trailer hit me. Gonna be a ‘sleeper recommendation’ of mine. When it hits, remember I told you!
James Baldwin: ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ (Official Trailer)
“In his new film, director Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished – a radical narration about race in America, using the writer’s original words. He draws upon James Baldwin’s notes on the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. to explore and bring a fresh and radical perspective to the current racial narrative in America.”
“One of the best movies you are likely to see this year.”
– Manohla Dargis, The New York Times
In theaters February 3rd

Africa: This Magnificent African Cake (Documentary)
Appropriate title, seeing as how the Europeans did in fact cut up The Motherland like cake. Check out Episode 6 of the “Africa” documentary series, “This Magnificent African Cake,” and you will see.
Alien: Covenant (Trailer)
Amazing! One of those lifelong, decades-strong franchises that Hollywood seems to really love… This is the latest “Alien” installment. In theaters May 19, 2017.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with “Alien: Covenant,” a new chapter in his groundbreaking “Alien” franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America (Festival Trailer)
I never set out to convert anybody. In my quest, some of them ended up converting themselves.
– Daryl Davis
So, go on and plan on watching the trailer above TWICE, because the first run will likely leave you breathless. This is the award-winning documentary about a Black musician, Daryl Davis, who befriends and engages members of the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacists in an extended dialog about race, hate, and how we can get past it. Turns out this all started as a bold an simple measure to get the KKK’s answer to this question: “How can you hate me if you don’t even know me?”
(Davis’ dialogs with Klan members have been so powerful that several members ultimately left the organization. You MUST watch!)
“Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America” comes to PBS on February 13, 2017.
ESPN’s 30 For 30: Nature Boy (Teaser Trailer)
Finally… The R… oh wait, that’s another pro wrestler’s schtick. Ha!
But wrestling fans might be feeling like “finally” when the kiss-stealing, wheeling-dealing, limousine-riding, jet-flying son of a gun gets his 30 For 30 shine on ESPN. Watch the teaser above for the ESPN documentary for The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Wooooooooo!
Blade Runner 2049 (Teaser Trailer)
Okay, there is enough time to watch the original “Blade Runner” (with Harrison Ford) starting now… because October 6, 2017, the story continues.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
“Blade Runner 2049” also stars Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
The World’s First Male Sex Doll (Video)
Ooookay. VICE’s Karley Sciortino is taking girls “playing with dolls” to a whole other level! Getting mighty cozy with the concept in this documentary episode exploring the making of male sex dolls for women.
Because, you know, gender equality.
(Hahaa! Karley, though. Got an undeniable sexy about her, right? Just saying, she probably does not need to go the doll route. Surely there is a real ‘plaything’ out here that will gladly play with her… Errr… Just watch.)
The Birth of Saké (Documentary)
Incredible! This documentary is about a tradition, an art, craftsmanship, a lifestyle, a family business, a journey of self-discovery and appreciation and so much more brought to us by Japanese-American documentarian Erik Shirai. Turns out that Saké is waaaay more than fancy rice wine. The story’s telling – in “The Birth of Saké” – does involve a lot of cups of it though. The best!
Check out the trailer above. Catch it on Netflix. More on the documentary at NBC News online.

Dunkirk (Trailer)
Christopher Nolan has some award-winning movies in the theatrical trophy case already – “Interstellar,†“Inception,†“The Dark Knight†Trilogy. But this “Dunkirk” is looking EPIC! And we will get a look at it in theaters July 21, 2017. To whet appetites for the war film, Warner Bros. dropped off this trailer. Bet money this won’t be your run-of-the-mill war period piece. Believe that!
Haiti & ‘The Forgotten Occupation’ (Trailer)
Damn. Just damn. When we look at ‘poor Haiti’ from America, we should hold more rage in our hearts than pity. The U.S. have just done wrong by that Black nation. WRONG!
In 1915, more than a century after having eradicated slavery from their country, the people of Haiti suddenly find themselves the victims of a brutal American occupation, reigniting an all too familiar past for the proud, independent nation.
Watch the trailer for “The Forgotten Occupation” above. Shout to Radio Rebel Tayla Andrè for sharing. For more info, check out TheForgottenOccupation.com.
Assassin’s Creed: “Cafeteria” Clip (Teaser)
Nice! Michael K. Williams is right in the middle of things in this upcoming video-game-come-to-screen flick “Assassin’s Creed.” Michael Fassbender plays the lead, but in the teaser above, we are allowed to see the character played by Michael K. figuring prominently in the plot. Both are descended from members of an ancient assassins guild (per the movie namesake’s game franchise’s backstory), but how the characters are pieced together… for or against each other… Well, that’s what the ticket purchase will be for, right?
That, and all the azz-kickery that is sure to be in the movie; given the trailer (we posted on here earlier). “Assassin’s Creed” hits theater screens December 21, 2016.
